A fair test
This was my 2nd time playing this course. The first being 6 or 7 years prior. 30 min frost delay in morning. Quite unusual for this course. A long hitter could eat up the par 5s as they are not particurlarly long. I played from the whites and am a 9 handicap on this course. Quite a few bunkers. Waste areas and water on a few holes. Bermuda fairways were half green and half brown. Greens were wet and held very well. Many uphill. Downhill and sidehill lies. Reading greens somewhat of a task due to course being built into side of hill. A very fair test but reasonably accurate drives and a decent mid to short iron game and this courae can be had. 4 hour round. I rated this excellent value value for money due to golf now hot deal. Walkong off the street and paying rack rate. That would not be the case. A very nice course none the less.
Worst Course and Staff Ever!
After all the stress from work, me and my family decide to take a 5 day vacation to vegas.
We heard of all the courses we could play in vegas but wanted a affordable price where all of could afford and not break the bank. We asked the hotel staff at the wynn and they recommended a bunch of courses. Of course not wanting to pay more then 50 dollars per person, our bell boy told us about primm.
The drive from the strip is about 50 min going 70 flat. It is a horrible drive and would recommend it to anyone. We arrived and notice a front entrance but no one was inside. We arrive at bag drop and waited for about 5 min before getting our bags in a cart.
We arrive at the bar and the lady inside was very pleasant. We arrive in the shop and we are waiting to check in. We notice that the person inside was not friendly and was not courteous at all. He was extremely rude and had no communication skills. It seemed that he didnt enjoy life and hated everyone in the world. Everyone inside seemed very arrogant but who am i to make judgments in people who i dont know personally.
We finally were able to check in and teed off. As we were playing, we noticed a group in front were extremely slow and tearing up the course. We called the shop and the person said he would send out a Marshal. No Marshal came for 30 minutes and we called again. We spoke to the man on the phone and he said he personally go out and check out the group in front. After 1 Hr and 45 min we saw no one. We were so frustrated with the customer service, we just left after playing 6 holes. We wanted nothing to do with the course and incompetent people who work at the course.
If you like slow play and rude staff come this course. I will never be returning to this course ever!
Great course...will definitely be back
All I can say is WOW! Did not expect a course like this out in the middle of nowhere. Desert course is a great layout with numerous elevation changes and a challenge for a good player but very playable for my buddy who is a higher handicapper. Course was in good condition overall. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Wonderful experience for us Texans looking for something different out here and we found it. Will try and come out here every time I come to Vegas!
Worth the drive
Love the fact that the driving range is included. They provide water and golf tees. Carts have GPS. Full service course at a resonable rate.
Great stop on the way home
Our daughter, and her family (3 grandsons) live in Vegas, so we drive through Primm a lot. Yesterday we decided to stop and play the course, and were happy we did. Challenging without being frustrating, pretty to see, and very quiet - we let two singles go through during the course of our round.
Great clubhouse, and good food! Staff was knowledgable and friendly.
Hidden gem
Played the desert course. Challenging course with beautiful bunker lined fairways. Tough greens if you miss your spot. Worth the drive from Henderson. I'll play again & would like to try the lake course.
NIce day of golf.
Always enjoy me games at Primm.
Excellent
The course played very well it was in excellent condition I'm looking forward to going back and playing it again.
Primm Valley - Desert Course
My buddy and I hit the tee about 10am. It was a very busy day as it normally is at Primm Valley, especially since we played as a twosome. The staff at Primm is always great. The course was in excellent condition, I just wish I had played better!
Exceptional
The course, staff, and conditions were absolutely perfect. If you're coming from Las Vegas, it's worth the drive. When I tell people about Primm, I always recommend the Lakes course but we played the Desert course and when I go back, I'll be playing the Desert course again. I really like the layout, driveable par 4's, tough par 3's, even back to back par 5's on the front 9 which makes it unique. One negative thing I would say is that they didn't have any tap beer in the bar (all the taps were down) and the other beer selection wasn't the greatest. If you don't drink beer --- there wasn't a negative about the day. The practice facilities are world class with free range balls, two practice chipping areas where you can work on your 80 yd and in shots, and two practice greens (one for each course).
Stay out of the traps!!!
Great course, love playing here, but the traps really need some fresh sand.
Limited beer choices in the bar. Nothing on tap and cans include only domestic (Bud,Lite, ect) and imports of a very light character(Modela, Stella, Hienie, Shock Top.), all the same thing. at least have cans of a brown ale, stout, IPA, even Sam Adams. Who does the ordering?
Primm valley desert
Really enjoyed the course . Easy drive to the course
Who could know?
If your running from Las Vegas to SoCal or vice versa you would never imagine that this lush golf paradise lies right behind the berm with the trees. Well worth the 45 minute run from Las Vegas, but I must caution everyone about high weekend traffic volumes, not the course's fault, but I15 can be a pain at those times.
Great Place
I've played here many times and personally believe the customer service here is the best of any course in the area. The pro shop staff, starters and cart people are super friendly and always great you by name.
The course's are good, but the traps do need work (like most courses in Las Vegas). The value here is excellent and would highly recommend playing either course at Primm.
beautiful coarse
from great practice facilities to beautiful greens this place is awesome! victor and mark are the best!
Slow Slow Slow-No marshals anywhere
If it hadn't have been for the 5+ hour round it would have been great. I called the pro shop on the 13th hole to ask if they would help us out and send a marshal to kindly speed up a group in front of us. "They are only 1/2 a hole behind" they said. 14 runs parallel to 13 and no one was on it. No marshal ever came and the back nine took an agonizing 3 1/2 hours. Factor in the 45 minute drive back and forth to Las Vegas and it turns into an all-day ordeal to play at Primm. It's a shame, too. Both courses are quite good and the practice facilities are excellent.
From first to worse.
Primm used to be a first class resort for golfers. They used to have cross cut fairways that looked like a baseball outfield and greens that were pristine and quick. Over the past few years, the course has deteriorated in quality and the staff said that's because the MGM owns this resort now and they take good care of their other course and they are the step child out there.
They had done their seasonal maintenance but they still have several types of grasses and weeds growing in the fairways. The greens were punched but also had some weeds and so many bare spots that you could tell would never grow in.
They overbooked a tournament on the Desert Course and thus, moved us to the Lakes Course. There were no carts available for the guests playing the Lakes Course and as guests who were finishing their morning rounds, carts were being diverted over to the tournament. There were a lot of carts in the cart barn but the staff informed us that they were in various states of disrepair for one reason or another.
We got off the tee over an hour past our tee time and were still waiting for carts for our group. The staff told us that it would be at least another forty minutes before they could get us carts. We opted to tee off and walk until such point, the staff would bring us carts. We walked almost the entire front nine before we found some water and staff showed up with carts. We told them that this was unacceptable and something needs to be done about it. They just advised us to go complain to the Pro when we completed our round.
The Pro was advised that we would be coming there after our round and we were not happy. His first words to us were "You guys don't look to worse for the wear"! Wow, really! How about, I'm really sorry for the inconvenience, that's not the type of program we run here and let us refund your green fees for you. Instead, it was "I'm sorry but I'm not authorized to make that decision"! At this time he just gave us the MGM's golf management supervisors card. The Pro said he noticed how big that tournament was getting two days prior to our arrival and thought "Hmm, this is going to be a problem"! Yet still managed to plan poorly for the day in question.
We threw the card away figuring he would not even answer his phone, when it was a complaint it may just result in a comped round at a future date knowing we would never drive back out from L.A to play a round of golf at what has turned into an over priced municipal course.
This is the last time we ever play Primm and ever recommend Primm to our associates.
Great time at Primm.
Greens had been punched but where very puttable. Course WA in great shape and pace of play was good. Had a good time.
Lakes course
nice layout that was a little beat up greens had just been punched and sanded/not good/ staff was great pace of play was great
Great course gone downhill
I am a local who booked an early morning tee time on a Sunday. The price was $50.00, which I have no problem paying for a Tom Fazio layout, but was surprised to find punched greens. The fairways were very patchy and barely have a top coat of overseed on them. The condition of these courses has gotten pretty bad since I first played them in 2012. Not worth 50 bucks, and really not worth more than 25. I hope the management will reinvest in these courses, as they are truly great layouts.
Thank you for your review! We apologize that you did not enjoy your experience at Primm Valley. We appreciate your feedback and will make sure to address these points. Thank you again!
It is funny how the staff will respond to all good reviews but if something bad is said about the course or staff there is no response. I've played both courses often but since MGM took over the course has gotten worse. it is to bad because to me it was worth the drive from Henderson. Plus i'm a 15+ handicap but loved the course.
Thanks for your review! We are pleased that you enjoyed your experience at Primm Valley. We apologize that the course conditions were not up to par. We hope to see you back once our greens have fully recovered!
