Great experience
Wish there was more amenities on the course available while playing but all in great experience and challenge for anyone experience or Rookie player to enjoy them selves
Poor service, poor pace of play, no food.
Played behind a fivesome that had no clue what they were doing. When I called to reserve the person taking calls was “pretty sure” it was regular greens and carts. Couldn’t get ahold of the pro shop and there was no food at the turn.
Northern Nevada Winter Golf
It’s been a good winter for the Sierra snowpack, which means trying to squeeze in a round of golf has been especially rough this year.
Great to get out and swing a club, but disappointed that we had to deal with temporary greens, hence the low green fees
Not as good as it used to be
I like Red Hawk, both the Hills and Lakes Courses are fun to play and the facilities are nice. Good food and friendly staff. The course conditions have gotten worse year over year and are struggling to keep in good condition. That being said, it is still a fun track and I will be back.
Great weather, nice course, but ...
I've played Red Hawk a ton in the 20+ years it's been open. It's a really good track and a good test of golf.
I'll also say that Red Hawk does a great job with pace of play at both courses. There's days when you show up and see a packed parking lot and feel a five-hour round coming on but it's almost always four or just over, in my experience.
This round showed a growing problem with courses and GolfNow/TeeOff, however -- the lack of the course accurately conveying conditions through the booking website.
We showed up and learned it was cart path-only. Understandable but there was one member of our group who was not physically in a good place for that.
Whether cart path only or temporary greens or carts have to be back in by a certain time, it's problematic enough that I won't be renewing my GolfPass membership. GolfNow/TeeOff blames the courses and the courses blame the website. Have had enough.
Great course.
The Lakes course is the go to for this area. Good course, challenging and the amenities are excellent. Comfortable carts and smooth cart paths throughout the course. The greens for this particular round were in excellent shape for this time of year.
Fast pace,nice fairways and greens
The course is in very good shape for November. Completed 18 in 3.5 hrs
did actually play the Lakes course. Over booked the course so had to play the Hills. It was not a bad track, .Greens were extremely fast and bumpy with lots of break.
Nice day
Pace of play was great considering the course was packed. Seemed a little under-staffed.
Greens are firm but receptive.
Only quibble is a lvl of consistency with the bunkers. Some are soft and fluffy. Others (around 9, for example) are hard-packed.
The sand
I've played the course many times before it's a nice course and it's in good shape. The thing that impressed most of all was the sand they had it filled recently making it some of the best in town.
Irritating Golf Cart Issues!!!
The golf cart we drove came with a very restrictive (and annoying) automatic low speed setting that made for inconsistent speed settings on the entire Hills golf course. How would you like driving a golf cart that continually lurched, even when the accelerator was fully depressed? The cart display also showed continuous unnecessary minor warnings (e.g. “Caution Bump Ahead”) that pestered us while driving.
Great course, terrible bunkers
I have played this course probably 30 times over the last 2 years, and I firmly believe it is one of the nicest courses in Reno! The afternoon tee times in the summer can’t be beat cost wise. However, REDHAWK HAS THE WORST BUNKERS IN RENO. Their sand is absolutely awful, Rocky, concrete like, and are impossible to hit a decent shot out of. Course backs up pretty bad during the day, but typically afternoons breeze by. I’d give this course an overall 10/10 but the bunkers bring it down to a 7.5/10 for me
