Great Course
What a great course. Played the Lakes and really enjoyed it. Discounted afternoon rate started at 2. Gave us more than enough time to finish without being rushed. Will be a favorite Reno stop from now on.
Good time
Nice course. Was more challenging after the wind picked up. Prices a bit high to quench your thirst.
Nice to a tourist
I was in town just goofing off for a couple of days and some people recommended this course. Great condition, challenging, and nice staff.
Midday play
Course is dry and greens very bumpy, cart path only. Nothing noteworthy.driving range is really bad, dirty, the nasty mats you have to hit off leave crud on your clubs that's difficult to clean.
Redhawk Hills - wear running shoes
Off-season and dormant grass and they neglected to tell us that it was cart paths only. On the first hole, we drove out 90 degrees and the cart shut down and it took quite a while to crawl back to the path. Um, the grass is dead, what are you trying to protect? For a very hilly course, walking back and forth was very tiring and ridiculous. On many occasions, with all the undulations, we couldn't see our ball and couldn't gage distance which added time and frustration. The greens were in very sorry shape too. 5 bucks for about 25 range balls hitting off artificial turf. The speaker to announce tee times is obviously in need of replacement. Only one restroom, so be sure to bring an extra bladder. Only $39, but there are multiple other courses at or below.
winter conditions
The fairways and ruff were in good shape. The only thing is the greens. They are bumpy. Ball goes off line easily. But they haven't rolled the greens in months.
In Shorts inFebruary!!??
This is the second time playing the Hills Course. The first time was in Oct 13. Due to early snow only the front 7 and 17 & 18 was open!!This time price was great to finally get to play all 18. It is February so that speaks to the conditions only being average. I had very little inter-action with staff as I was only in the club house less than 2 minutes. No starter at the first tee. but that could be due to the time of the year. I'm sure during the summer they have one. Pace was good, played in a little over 4 hours.
red hawk
great course other than playing on temporary greens
Beautiful
Fair course , great views and an attentive staff even late in the year.
Nice views
Nice course aerated greens made putting difficult but that cant be helped. GPS always helpful.
Only one problem
Nice course but the geese droppings was enough for me to not come back. 2 greens were loaded with them and you had to clean a path to putt. Almost all the tee boxes had them and it became a pain to find an area to tee off and stand without them. My playing partner stepped out of his cart several times and landed his spikes in them. Lots of birds, lots of poo and these geese are not small. I don't think the management can do much about it but i would not play there again because of it
Fun and challenging
Course is visually appealing and moderate difficulty. Front nine is not as challenging as the back. Fairways are very good. Greens are good.
Pace was very good with no delays on the front. Road block on the back. No marshals. Very enjoyable and will play again soon.
Very nice course
Really nice course. Our tee time was 4:55 and we had to pay $39 and have the cart back by 6:30 so we felt like we paid a lot for an hour and a half of play.
The course was in great shape.
The weather was perfect and the course was in great shape. 17 out of 18 greens were in good condition.
The Absolute best
So many superlatives. If you have a chance, play this course. Best I've played in the Reno/Carson City area. Well worth the Golfnow rate. You will not be disappointed!
Nice Golf Course
First time here.
Course was in nice shape, wind blowing about 20+ which is normal in the afternoon. The greens were smooth!!
GPS on cart was 10 yds off compaired to my Bushnell.
Course is worth playing!
good choice in Reno
Nice design. Few blind shots. Driving range conditions poor. Pace of play awful and no marshalls. Course conditions generally good with some areas needing attention
bargain at $65
Must play if in the area. Great elevation changes. Greens quick and smooth. Nice layout of holes. I echo the other reviews that state pace of play issues. My twosome come up on a three some about the second hole and was stuck behind them all day. We would finish a hole and meet them at the next tee even before they could get in their carts to head down the fairway. NO marshall around.
Course in great shape
You need to think about your game plan on this course. There are many bunkers with different types of sand in each one. If you get stuck in one - think about where you need to be and work on getting there. It is not a simple course. If you want to score well, you need a game plan. I loved it. I joined the Talon Club and I'm so happy I did. Tomorrow I will play the hills course. This will be my goto course when I'm in Reno. I desperately needed a good course to play when spending 1/2 my time in Reno. Discovery Bay is my main club and I just could not take playing another Muni.
Fun challenging course
You can't just walk up with a driver on every par 4 or 5 because you have to stop and think first because there are a ton of sand traps. Course was in great shape, greens were fast and true. Had a great time!'
