Good Value for the Hot Deal Opportunity
We played this course a year ago in the fall. Everything was great, and we looked forward to returning asap to play the East Course. There was an outing on the East, so we played the West again. For early May in NC, with everything greening up, you expect most courses to be in near peak condition. One too many fairways burned out, and greens that rolled true but not very fast. The course felt just a tad "over par", but we'll be back to play the East course at some point, hopefully sooner than later. Staff exceptionally friendly and amenities top notch.
course not being maintained
The East course is a wonderful layout, challenging golf course which rewards shot accuracy. The greens are large, undulating and equally challenging. However, the course is not being well maintained. Bunkers were flooded from rainfall 48 hours earlier. Bermuda greens appeared to not having been mowed in the prior 36 hours. While I technically had a golf cart; the entire course was cart path only, so my threesome walked quite a bit, which should have been disclosed when booking. The facility/resort is beautiful, wonderful food at the cafe next to the pro shop. Would not return unless and until the course is better maintained. Also no senior tees.
First time playing grandover but not the last. Everything about the course was excellent, from the tee box thru the fairways to the greens. Very nice.
Worth the price of admission
Great course with a challenging layout. Well maintained with an excellent staff. Pricey but actually worth it so I guess that makes it a great value 😁. I'll be back...played the east course. Want to see how the west course plays. Thanks for a great experience Grandover.
Better Than Advertised
Everything was perfect! The course layout is impeccable and the condition of the golf course was superb. A lack of staffing doesn't allow the full Grandover experience (no cart girl on the west course nor 19th hole experience) but the golf is absolutely perfect!
Rough
Great course. The only issue is u shouldn’t lose golfballs in the first cut off the fairway. Too deep totally unacceptable
Great Golf
The course was in fantastic shape. Greens are undulating but not so fast that you three putted every time. Very challenging. West course does not return to the clubhouse after the first nine holes. Snack bar after the ninth hole was closed on a beautiful Saturday. Also, no beverage cart at all. So if you wanted water or other beverages you had to buy them before you play. No GPS or USB plug on golf cart. So other than lack of on course food and beverage service and that slight drawback on the golf cart, our overall experience was great! Range balls are included in the price of golf. Amenities in the clubhouse are top notch.
Great time!
Course was in great shape and enjoyed the layout. Played the west course and only experienced issues on one hole where it seemed the sprinklers had gone off too long and the hole was fairly soggy.
Great as always
A little slow for a Thursday but hard to complain, I’ve reviewed this place before, go play it, treat yourself.
Need to Marshall the course
We had a twosome playing in front of us that knew nothing of golf etiquette. Wearing basketball shorts and a tshirt playing all over the course. At the turnaround we continued - they stopped. On the 12 they drive around us while on the green and goes to 13 box. Needless to say we waited more. Would hit several balls and leave some behind. No worries they were range balls. Made the day longer than need to be. Where was the Marshall. You pay that much money, there should be someone watching and regulating play. Thought I was on a cheap public course. Beautiful course but will never spend the money to play again.
Always a Treat
Staff has become much much friendlier than I remember from years past. Worthy of commenting, I wish I had some names, the ranger, all the pro shop attendants, even left my $500’ range finder on the cart and the quality staff had already turned it in before I’d realized I left it.
Can’t say enough about the staff, those folks are on point.
Greens were a little on the slow side, but the fairways were absolutely immaculate.
If you get a chance to get out to either course, just convince yourself it’s worth 2-3 rounds at your usual spot, you won’t regret it.
Sam the Tee time General! You need to chill!!!
We where pumped to play!
Day started great, arrived early, staff in pro shop 5 of 5..
Then we meet Sam.. pushy Sam. Rude Sam.. I could go on!
We went over to the range and took a few shots, some good, some bad. Gotta get loose after the drive..
All while Sam was being eagle eye, and rushing us to the tee box ‘10 minutes early’.. and the first tee was seriously 1 min away.. at this point I was ok Sam, keeping the pace.. no worries..
But here is when it starts… Sam asked me: ‘do you even play golf??? I was like excuse me?? The rudest thing you can say to a person that just paid $90 for a round and even heading into a round! 1st hole tee off is hard enough without having ‘Sam’.. few words back to Sam and we tee’d off. My partner tee’d off ‘average start’ and then I hit.. we are on the way… SO WE THOUGHT…. While I was tee’ing off Sam spoke with my partner ‘we have to talk’ he said.. he waited to when I got back to the cart and proceeded to tell us ‘we had to play captains choose.. this time not referring to my ball.. but my partners.. make your mind up Sam….
At the point of time, I had enough of Sam! Words where spoken, Sam got the point FINALLY.. ‘use your imagination please ;-)’ …
It was so rude! We are in for a chilled fun Sunday game and Sam honestly made the first few holes a horrible experience! Couldn’t believe at a club with high ratings and consumer satisfaction, has a Karen ‘Sam’ being honestly a police officer on the course!
I’ve played TPC Sawgrass FL and Kirkland in Scottsdale, Monarch in CA, never an issue and now playing a local course in Greensboro NC.. this happens! Just a shame!
I hope no one else experiences Sam.. ‘ dear Sam!! Chill out Sir!! Golf is meant to be enjoyable! We are not all turning pro and it’s meet to be fun and challenging!
Keep your opinions to yourself! Don’t forget without consumers you wouldn’t have a job!
