Excellent
Our round was after their Eclipse event. Course was closed, but Tee time was available online. They were very accommodating and let us and another group out. Nice people, excellent Golf Course.
Course in excellent shape -- great value
The course was in great shape and you couldn't beat the price - $20. FW's were very lush and closely mowed. Greens were smooth and running relatively fast for the heat, i would judge a 9. The course is flat, but there are a lot of doglegs to break up the monotony. Green complexes were fairly easy, and flat but there were alot of subtle breaks. I played at 6900 yds. the net set of tees is around 6100 which is a big difference
Perfect day
Played here last year for the first time and decided to try it again. Weather was perfect and so was the course. Greens rolled nicely. The rest of the course was in great shape also, some traps were hard pack as are most courses anymore. Pace of play was under 4 hours. I understand August is usually slow in SC, but the weather was perfect, low humidity and not much wind.
Will definitely play it again when I'm in the area.
Loved it
Place was very nice to play. Challenging back tees that made the course difficult for advanced players. Course was in great shape and the greens were rolling true.
Would enjoy playing there again
Nice layout.
Course was nice, liked the layout, well maintained.
We were a twosome, teed off only 10 minutes after our starting time. Pace of play was incredibly slow. No ranger, no notice of lack of drinking water until number 7. Refreshment cart did appear on the scene around #5. Gnats were terrible and using "OFF" did very little to keep them away. Santee is a nice place. I'd play there again if in the area.
Super layout!
Of the 3 area courses we played in our golf package, Santee National was our favorite. It's a very pretty golf course and a great value. The course is in great shape and it's fair for the average and high handicappers. The fairways were very nice and most were plenty wide enough. The Bermuda greens were a little bumpy but we were told they are scheduled for "yearly" aeration in a couple of weeks. This course needs to be on your list to play in Santee.
Well Maintained & Fun
Rude starter (gave me a hard time adding a second player to my tee time even though I was a onesome playing behind 3 4somes). After that, everything was great. Course was in great condition especially near the greens. Plenty of chances for fades and draws. Reachable par 5s make for great scoring opportunities. Only hit 1 bunker (thank goodness) but it was the way a bunker should be. Greens were quite fast compared to my normal course.
I carry a 16 handicap and managed a respectable 82.
For $20, I'd play this course weekly!
awesome course, very playable.
i will try to play this course on my future trips to hilton head Everytime.
Great Course for Price
Santee National was a great experience and fun course. The weather was great and the pace of play was excellent. Will play there again.
Recommended
One good thing about this course is that it is in good condition at every level, and that did lead to an enjoyable playing experience. The scorecard gives the maps for each hole, very useful as there are some sharp doglegs and long holes. Not an easy course, and one that needs good club selection rather than simply long shots. The course is quite open in places with reduces the eye appeal, but many of the hazards that can reduce shots lie just off the fairway.
Greens
The course was challenging especially the greens. The were hard to read and they need to work on them to get the Poa anna grass out.
Outstanding course
The best course that I have played. I would highly recommend this course to anyone at any skill level.
