Santee National Golf Club
About
Santee National Golf Club possesses all of the charms of the Carolina Lowcountry but it is also nicely contrasted with highland terrain. The course sprawls across rolling hills covered with moss-draped live oaks that demand accuracy. Both the scenery and the challenges continue with pristine white sand bunkers that stand out against the lush greens. There are also five sparkling lakes throughout that come into play on several holes. The front nine is wide open but the course narrows as you move onto the back nine and it also becomes more wooded. It is a tough golf course but more forgiving than it seems. As the only Golf Digest 4-star rated course in the area, Santee National has a longstanding reputation with locals and it is also popular with visitors.

Great!
Course is in great shape and fun layout. It was really slow. I went Friday afternoon Memorial Day weekend so bear that in mind. Still, there was no ranger and a few groups holding us all up. The bugs became ferocious after the sun went down.
A Great course
We were warmly welcomed by the two young men in the pro shop at Santee National Golf Club. Since it was our first time playing here, they provided us with a course map and gave us some helpful tips about the course.
There was no starter, but we were able to tee off on time. We played as a threesome behind a foursome, and although we occasionally had to wait briefly, the pace of play was still very good.
The course layout is beautiful, featuring gentle hills, water hazards, and well-maintained bunkers. We also really appreciated that there are no houses directly along the fairways, unlike many courses in Florida.
Great Layou
We felt the layout and play ability was good. The conditions were subject, The fairways were hard as a rock and the greens very rough. A lot had to do with lack of rain not the staff. Overall, enjoyed the round. Pray for rain.
Nice track. Painful pace.
Second time playing the course. Second time pace of play was slow. Painfully slow. The course is a great destination for groups with their package deals. Add in a couple of forced carries, and it backs up quickly. Fortunately I got paired up with a nice guy and we talked quite a lot between shots. But not eberyone may be so lucky. Otherwise, a nice place. In good shape in spite of the dry weather. Great to see them busy. Great to see the condition.
Great Course. Great Value
I am a California transplant now living in Columbia, SC. The area I am from has some of the best courses in the planet. That being said, Santee National is without a doubt right up there with them. I played here for the first time today and it was 10000% worth the trip from Columbia.
- Tee boxes are well maintained.
- Fairways are firm, no sloppy areas.
- Rough is well kept.
- Bunkers look brand new.
- The greens are the best greens I’ve played on in SC. Fast, firm, and challenging.
- Design is fantastic.
- Pace was perfect. Finished in 4 hours.
Shot my lowest score in 2 months on a course I’ve never played before. What a great day.
Just book the tee time. You won’t regret it.
Sunday Funday
Absolute wonderful course. First time playing and not going to be the last time playing. Course conditions were excellent hats off to the ground Crew. The staff inside the club shop was super friendly. Five star course. Perfect for the rate.
Course has challenges
The course design is good front is open with some challenging water hazards. Back 9 more trees. Due to the drought very dry. Greens were a challenge with different elevations and speeds. Pace of play very slow well over a 5 hour round we waited every hole.
A++
From the first tee your challenged with a blind landing area in the fairway. Then the first green makes you hope the rest are just as well maintained, which they are. More than enough elevation change and dog legs to make it challenging and fun.and as close to perfect greens that you’ll see at a public course. Drove over an hour and I was not disappointed. Exceptional course maintenance tee to green.
Santee National
Would absolutely play Santee National again. Drove about an hour to play and will be returning again soon. Course was in great shape with consistent greens, well kept bunkers, and a very fun layout. Staff was super friendly too. Overall great experience and can’t wait to head back soon
Did not disappoint
From tee box to greens, course in great condition. No complaints and it's always a pleasure to come back to this course and find such top notch conditions. One note - dress code is enforced.
One of my favorites
Staff members are always great. Free range balls, and great overall course.
Excellent! Worth the Drive !
Had a wonderful day at the course. Staff was friendly and course was great.
Great course
Loved this course. Always in good shape and a piece of paradise. Recommend to everyone.
Good stop before Hilton Head
Santee National is a convenient place to play just off I95 , about 2.5 hrs N of Hilton Head. the golf is fairly easy , with wide fairways , and a bit of water . I stop there when driving to HH or FL to break up a travel day. Hotels are cheap and they have a decent driving range if you are pressed for time.
Great day
Played as a single, no wait on Reebok, several groups let me play through and completed round under 4 hours. Several doglegs required precision, greens were slow, but true. Open woods suited my game!
One of the best values in the area
The course was in great shape and the staff, as always were very welcoming and friendly. This is the one of the best public courses in the area. Most of the public courses are way overpriced in the Charleston area and not in very good condition. This one has a fair price with overall good condition conditions would recommend this course to anyone in the Charleston area.
