Santee National Golf Club
About
Santee National Golf Club possesses all of the charms of the Carolina Lowcountry but it is also nicely contrasted with highland terrain. The course sprawls across rolling hills covered with moss-draped live oaks that demand accuracy. Both the scenery and the challenges continue with pristine white sand bunkers that stand out against the lush greens. There are also five sparkling lakes throughout that come into play on several holes. The front nine is wide open but the course narrows as you move onto the back nine and it also becomes more wooded. It is a tough golf course but more forgiving than it seems. As the only Golf Digest 4-star rated course in the area, Santee National has a longstanding reputation with locals and it is also popular with visitors.

Great course
Love playing here! Pace of play was a little slow but normally not an issue here.
The course
The course was great and pace of play was excellent. One big downside was the bugs/bats the carts and the course were covered with them everywhere. Felt like you had them all over you on every shot
Great golf course
Love it! One of my favorite local courses. Cart paths need some attention but the course is in good shape.
Great course for the price.
Course was in good shape. Staff was friendly. We will definitely be back again!
Santee National
Fairways soft and in excellent conditions. Greens were punched recently but coming back nicely. Friendly staff.
South Carolina’s Finest
Santee National Golf Club is one of South Carolina’s finest courses. Greens are always true and the challenging course plays fair. Not far from Charleston or Columbia and lots of great winter golf for snowbirds!
Elevated low country
Traveling home to Florida from a work trip in North Carolina, all the signs pertain to Golf in the area got me tweaking to get some holes in. This was my second time playing this course, I previously played it a little less than a year ago. I did not make a tee- time and just showed up as a single and had the entire course to myself. The Pro shop attendant, who was a little bit younger than me(I’m 40) was extremely friendly and helpful. Provide me with another course guide which I had brought with me from the last round here. The greens had been recently sanded and punched but my initial disappointment vanished quickly. The course is a mixture of long par 3s and short par 4s. As I said earlier, I had the course entirely to myself. All the holes are pretty unique from one another and provide equally unique challenges to avoid. Some holes feel like a mountain course, some holes feel like a park style golf course with a nice mixture of wooded areas and water hazards. If you hit a driver you better hit your line and trajectory. 3 wood requires a touch less precision of the tee but will add difficulty to your approach shot. You don’t have to be long to play from the tips on the par 4s but you better have a 230 club on the par 3s. The first time I played this of course it was later in the day and overcast. This time it was midday, sunny and visually felt like a different course. Not many houses along the course to hit. Don’t be long on approach shots. I took my time but was able to get 18 holes in and plenty of lollygagging in 2 1/2 hours. I deducted 1 star due to sand and punches.
Nice treat in the low country.
First visit to this surprisingly solid low country course just a couple miles off of i95. After a few rounds in Charleston we hit up Santee on a warm Sunday mid morning. The clubhouse staff was very friendly, the vibe personal and professional. Course was in really good shape, don't be decieved by the practice green (It was the only stressed green we saw all day). Fairways were in very good shape only the boundaries of the rough were dry. Interesting layout with a mix of unique holes some isolated in woods while others in more open areas. Beyond the layout varied elevations and quite a few well protected greens made this a fun round. Will be back for sure!
Needs work
The cart paths were in need of replacing, to much tie offs around holes - lots of walking. Need more 3 pars, out of burgers at 4:00pm and no bar.
Nice Track
Course was in good condition, Fairways a little thin. Greens fuzzy, yet rolled well. Very palyable layout
