Very Impressed
Read a review that this course was the best in the Up State of SC. And boy was he right. I haven't played many courses in the Up State however I cant see any other public course being better. Course conditions, layout, were superb . Drove from Charlotte just to play it and I plan on doing it again soon.
Clemson Walker Course
Excellent condition. Challenging course with small greens that have a lot of slope. Hard to chip close to the hole if you miss. Lots of elevation changes tee to green. Fun round.
This course is awesome!
I've played here plenty of times before late Clemson games and this course never disappoints. Conditions and course layout is just awesome. Highly recommend!
Perfect condition
I have played the Walker Course many times over the years. The new zoysia greens are as smooth as any as I have ever played. The course layout has a good combination of risk/reward Par 5s and challenging, lengthy Par 3s if played from the back tees. The finishing 4-5 holes provide beautiful scenery of Lake Hartwell and some birdie opportunities as well. One of the best public venues to play anywhere for golfers of all skill levels hands down.
Best course in the upstate
Course is in great condition, even the rough is meticulously maintained. Quality is on par with private Cliffs courses.
great layout
Great condition, generous size greens and great layout makes it is a joy to play
Walker Course
This is one of my favorite courses anywhere in SC. It's always in great shape. The layout is tough but fair. I like the hybrid options that are available on the card. Beautiful place to play a round of golf.
Awesome Father's Day!
The Walker's Course provided environment on Father's Day! The staff was friendly and the course was in wonderful conditions.
I will definitely play again!
Clemson Walker
The course was in good shape with very good greens. The starters were very friendly and actually got us off earlier than our tee time. We played as a twosome were in no hurry and enjoyed taking extra putts on the greens since the group behind never pushed us.
In great shape
The course was in the best shape of all the courses in the upstate we played greens were a little slower, but rolled true.
Love The Course, But They Need A Ranger
I've always enjoyed playing The Walker Course (despite it being Clemson University's course). The only issue with my experience was a group who slowed play so much, there were 4 groups on one hole, the slow-pokes on the green, the next group in the fairway who were the most angry, then us on the tee box (who were moderately angry) and the group behind is waiting to tee off. It seems like some people don't have the courtesy to not hit several balls on the hole b/c they didn't like their initial shot. There are some who don't know to let a faster group play through. Surprisingly those type of people were creating the logjam on Wednesday. A ranger is needed to hurry those inconsiderate folks along so everybody can enjoy their experience...because everybody behind that particular group paid for their greens fees, too. That kind of stuff is just uncalled for and unfortunate.
One of the best in the Upstate
Very scenic course, many differing holes with great shot values.
Soggy
The course itself is in great shape and although it had not rained in a while, the course was still a good bit soggy retaining water in many fairways. The greens are rolling true and are in great shape. Not much green in the fairways yet but I'm excited over the possibility when grass grows this spring.
Love Walker Course
This course is awesome. Back nine is incredible, right on Lake Hartwell. Sometimes you can heard the Clemson band in the background. Favorite course in the area. Greens should be awesome very very soon. This is the place to bring your family and friends when they are in town. Hole #9 is SUPER challenging.
Excellent Golf Course
We play this course as often as possible because it is such a great track. They redid the greens during the summer and they are fantastic. This is such a nice course with a number of challenging holes, especially from the Purple tees. The 9th hole is likely the hardest hole you will ever play and walking away with a bogey can be defined as a win. If you are ever in the Clemson, SC area, you have to play this course!
Great experience!
Played 11/11. Great day for golf. Yes the ground was saturated with all the recent rain but the greens are as smooth as I have putted. Average speed. I can't wait to play it in the summer when its dry out. Very nice layout. Staff was great and the people I was paired up with where 2 of the nicest.
Course Playablility
Don't understand why this course is rated so favorably. Played it in the past and don't like their changes. Installed new greens which are horrible. Who has ever heard of zoysia for greens? Had to hit every putt hard just to reach the cup. Greens were firm and if you tried to hit short ball would plug. It is a very pretty looking course but doesn't play well.
Sorry I spent the money.
Great Greens, But Front Nine Fiasco
Was really excited about playing here for the first time. Read the reviews about the new zoysia greens, and was really looking forward to see how they rolled. Got to the course an hour early, so had plenty of time to hit balls and test the putting surface on the practice green. Check in was easy, and they indicated that I was paired with a threesome. About 10 minutes before our tee time the threesome arrived in two carts, but with only two bags. One of the players was a Clemson football player who was "learning" the game. The other two players were a father and son, and the football player was the boyfriend of the daughter of this same father. In nine holes, neither one of the younger players got a ball into play. We were constantly behind, and the father was giving "lessons" to the football player. Sometimes you run into these types of things when you get paired up. Tried to enjoy the course as much as possible, but they were constantly talking while I was playing, and would walk around on the greens when I was putting. After nine holes, the father realized they really didn't need to be on the course, and left after 9 holes. I was then by myself between a twosome in front, and a threesome behind me, neither group would let me join up with them on the back nine. Have never understood this as well, have always invited singles to join my group if we had an open slot. All in all, really enjoyed the course, and want to come back for sure. The greens were excellent. Just hope that don't run into the same situation when I play again.
Excellent course!
Staff was very friendly! The greens rolled well and were decently fast. The sand was perfect. The fairways and rough were groomed very well. Shot a 79 for my first round. I'll be back. May even join now that I've played it. Great course. Lots of fun!
One of the best I've played this summer
Always wanted to play The Walker Course and got my opportunity yesterday. Course was closed for 2 months this summer to redo the greens, course had only been reopened for a week when I played it and it was in immaculate shape. The greens were slow and fuzzy, but I understand that being fresh sod. Only bad lie I got in the fairway was when my tee ball plugged near a sprinkler area. I look forward to playing it again.
I believe that River Falls has diamond zoysia greens.
