Instructors James Oh

Impact is all the rage when discussing great iron play. But a technically sound backswing is critical to finding that forward shaft lean impact position we all desire. In this tip, James Oh starts at impact and works backwards to teach the correct position at the top of the backswing.

Thank you for this tip. I have always struggled with my irons and being consistent. I'm constantly hitting the ball on the toe, no matter the iron. I address the ball similarly to your address, take it back slow, but tend to swing too hard coming back, which probably opens the face. I am going to try this tip to see if it helps me get more consistent. A short backswing I think definitely will help slow me down. Looking forward to giving this a try.

excellent technique- especially tight lies

I really like this concept. I went to the range today and tried it with my 7, 6 and 5 irons. It really helped me. I may try the shortened swing on the course. Could this same drill work with 3, 4 and 5 hybrids?

I tend to have a short backswing like Rahm and feel like I should be able to take the club back more. Would it be easier to focus on my hips turning back or should I focus on my shoulder turn (left shoulder under chin). I feel like I don't have enough tension in my backswing to generate power. Thanks!

I seem to lose the athletic smooth acceleration when I try to bow my left wrist. Should I be setting up my bowed wrist at the beginning of the down swing or should it just happen naturally

I tend to come up and out of my golf shots. How can I fix this problem.
