Daily Video Tips

Really believe in principle of this tip. However, have now been doing 4/5 days in a net in garden (UK Lockdown) and am doing a lot of shanks. Not something usual for me (17.9 WHS). I cannot work out why. In fact i have actually missed ball totally on inside 4/5 times? Any ideas?
Yep, if the arms stay in front of you, something has to get behind you. The thing that gets more "in" is the club head. Arms can work out, like this tip example, but the club head goes down and "behind" you.
Where can one purchase the type of band you used for this lesson?
Most hardware stores. Plumbing tubing.
Hi again martin - i love the feeling of getting the trail elbow in front on downswing (koepka like) but if focused solely on it, i shank the odd shot. Have you found increasing side bend on the downswing will assist in getting the trail elbow more bent through impact?
Hi Mark, add Viktor Hovland to that group. The club head has to shallow behind you a bit more, a sensation in the wrists. If the shaft gets steep, shanks are coming.
How do I keep the left wrist maintaining a "strong" position like yours at the top and in transition down?
I tend to "flip" my wrist, thus losing power.
Thanks
Hi Garry, if your weight is gets into your lead foot on the downswing and your head stays behind the ball (dynamics) you'll likely have a strong strike. If you "slide" toward the target, most folks add loft via cuppy wrists.
Great drill, thanks Martin. Great use of the Planemate tubing.
Thanks Steve! Have great day.
Like this a lot. It also appears from the video that at the start of the downswing your hips are clearing early (separation) to create the space for those arms to swing through.
Hi Joseph, ideally we can get some separation. Harder as we get older and a little too easy for kids!
Would this aim stick with the tubing work for short pitch shots as well say 40 to 90 yards?
Yes, for sure.
Martin,
I have a question about the grip of the club. is it better to set up at the ball with the hands forward or how would you grip the club at address?
The club shaft should tilt a sliver towards the target. Don’t overdo it.
Great Tip
Thanks John!
