Good place to play.
Over all I liked playing this course. I had an early tee time and was the 3rd group to tee off. As a solo the people in front of ne allowed me to play threw on the 2nd hole which isn't that common on a lot of courses. As a first time being there and letting the staff know that they gave me guidance on the layout. Ground staff do an amazing job keeping the course clean and would also stop working regardless of the distance away to let me focus on my shots. One guy even stopped and pointed out were my badly struck ball ended up. I will be returning here and hopefully will try the course later in the day.
Great course for the $$$
New carts and pro shop. Very helpful staff. Greens were superb and hands down better than most private clubs in the area with the exception of Stonelick. Overall course condition was excellent.
Friendly Meadows is Friendly
First time playing this course. The course itself was in good shape. Pretty dry considering all the rain lately. Greens rolled nice and were quick. Only issue was 2 drunks in front of us thay were playing too slow for a twosome. They would wait until the group ahead of them were 2 shots in front of them, hit multiple tee shots when unnecessary and threw clubs when they hit bad shots..We were approached by ranger who asked us about them and was very nice about it. We were only a twosome ourselves and there was no one behind us as most of the groups were foursomes. Great course overalll with friendly professional staff that I would play again.
Terrible staff
Scam artist owner and the staff is very not friendly which is ironic for the name of the course. Unless it is in your backyard there are 100 other places on the east side I’d rather golf.
5.5 hour round!
Waited 30 minutes past tee time for a cart. Not enough carts.
Course was jammed.
5.5 hour round!
3 hours for 9 holes
If I could give zero stars, I would. The course conditions are absolutely atrocious—fairways and greens are so hard they might as well be concrete. Every shot feels like you’re playing off a parking lot.
The pace of play is beyond unacceptable. Groups were taking an average of 20 minutes per hole, and the rangers—whose job it is to keep things moving—were sitting around on their phones doing nothing about it. After three hours of slogging through just the front nine, we realized there was no way we could commit another three hours to finish the back nine.
When we politely asked for a refund for the unused nine holes, we were met with a flat-out refusal. No empathy, no attempt at customer service—just a hard “no.” It’s insulting to pay good money for what turned into one of the most miserable golf experiences I’ve ever had.
Save your time, money, and sanity. There are plenty of courses in the area that care about conditions, pace of play, and treating their guests with basic respect. This place clearly doesn’t.
Course was fine, other factors made it less than stellar.
Booked the tee time, unknowingly was playing a couple of groups behind a school tournament. Pace was slow but fine. I couldn't warm up at the range because they didn't have enough balls shagged to dispense them. Annoying, but fine. When I went to tee off on one, the starter had left to take care of some other things, and after I teed my ball up, spectators for the high school match rolled up in carts to watch the kids on nine. Totally acceptable, except they got out of their carts to watch and decided standing quite literally one foot from my tee'd up ball was okay. I had to ask them to move, and tee'd off with their cart 4 feet behind me. Right in front of the prop shop and not getting any intervention there was wild to me. A couple of the tee boxes were more sand than grass. Not what I would expect from a course I thought was very nice for the area.
Nice Country Course
If you don't require a country club-like course and want to get out and play golf on an interesting if not meticulously maintained course, you'll likely like Friendly Meadow. Every hole was different and interesting. Lots of water and challenging features. The operation seems very well run and the staff is extraordinarily friendly.
