About
Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia was designed by Greg Norman. It sprawls across 163 lush and secluded acres where golfers will be hard-pressed to find a home anywhere close to the course. Norman carefully utilized the natural terrain, incorporating the meandering creek on several holes and also adding a few holes that venture up the side of a hill. Thanks to the dramatic elevation changes, there are some tees where your ball seems to stay in the air forever. The first nine is more open with a traditional links-style layout that then leads to the more densely wooded back nine. In addition to the trees and other natural hazards, there is also an unusually thick first cut of rough as well as tall stands of native grasses.

Great course!
Have never been disappointed with course condition. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Can't go wrong with a round there.
Unfriendly Atmosphere - Worst Experience in Cincinnati
Regular morning groups were very unfriendly. We were getting ready for tee off on a Tuesday morning. There was a large regular weekly group on the putting green right next to the first tee. After we exchanged tee times and they learned we were goimg off first. I was confronted by a guy in their group saying that they may be bad but they play quickly and that if we don't, we could go behind their group in a fake playfull passive aggressive way. After I called the guy out saying we don't need to be speeched to on our pace of play before we have even teed off. The guy played it off like he was joking. I've been playing this course since I was a kid in high school competitions and in other groups for over 20 years and never have I dealt with such arrogant people on a golf course. The maintenance staff was also very unfriendly shouting at us on hole 10 because I didn't rake the bunker. The bunker hadn't been maintained and was wet and hard as a rock. Raking is something I regularly do, but doing so in this case wouldn't have done anything to the improperly maintained bunkers. Also the employees behind the bar were very unfriendly, barely acknowledging us as we made the turn for picking up food we ordered from hole 9. Awful experience. Sadly this course has gone way downhill from it's hay day.
Nice Course, but...
...the bunkers are in horrendous shape. I'd expect better from a premium course with a premium price.

Pace of Play/Ranger
Overall decent course but like most other reviews have said, the pace of play was awful (5-hour round), waiting on every tee box and every fairway, and no one repairs ball marks on the greens. The redneck riviera of Cincinnati area golf.

Elks in better shape than most at this point in the year. Would play there again.
Great layout. Rough and greens needs work
First time playing this course. Great layout with challenging holes and some good movement to the design. The staff were all helpful and polite. The bad news was the rough around the greens was baked out and patchy..As a group we agreed to move your ball to any place near with grass. The greens had been punched but that was not as bad as the unfixed ball marks. There were signs on every green telling people to “ repair your ball marks on the green” but it was very apparent people were not! The greens need work. I WILL go back because I love the layout, I just hope some work has been done to address these things.
