The Players Club at Foxfire Golf Club
About
Foxfire Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf, the Foxfire Course and the Players Club Course. The Players Club was added in 1993.The layout is a deft combination of traditional American golf and traditional British links design that provides the perfect complement to the original. The golf course is the more challenging of the two, but not by much. The layout features narrow fairways lined with trees and water hazards on eight holes. There are three particularly tricky carries over water. Strategically placed bunkers and contoured mounding also treacherously lurk by the greensides. The par-4 16th hole is the course's signature. This demanding hole plays uphill through trees to a green that is guarded by five bunkers. The most memorable hole though, might be the par-5 eighth, which features the longest sand bunker in the Midwest.

Challenging course
This course is one of my favorite courses that are really difficult to keep my score lower. This is so exciting and motivates me to improve my management skills.
Making a comeback
The Players Club is getting back to the course I remember from about 10 plus years ago. Whatever or whoever they hired or sold the course to is doing an excellent job. The last time I played the course it was in terrible condition. This morning it was awesome. The greens were in perfect shape, fast and rolled true.
TPC FOXFIRE
Nice day for golf. They did have all the pins in the hardest positions in honor of the Masters. Made the course even harder along with the 15-25 mph winds. Greens were fast
Good course! Hard if you're new
Had a great experience playing a round here. Staff was amazing!!! Course was difficult wirh numerous hazards and greens that had crazy breaks. The grounds crew didn't do us any favors by placing flags in the rhe toughest places on the green! Haha.. but was very fun and you had to really think about your shots. That's how golf is supposed to be. The only thing that I didn't like is that some greens were hard as a rock. Well placed shots literally bounced head high and rolled or bounced completely off the greens. Very fast fairways too. I will DEFINITELY be back! Good course!
Bunkers/fringe need some work
Overall in pretty good shape. Greens were great - fast for April. I’d say only 40% of the bunkers were playable and several of the fringes had bare spots. Quite a bit of ground under repair, but not in normally-playable locations.
Glad to golf in spring
Very happy the course was open. Any lower grade was mostly due as it was early in the season. So we didn’t really get a chance to see all the amenities. With the amount of rain, the driving range was closed and a lot of other things were not quite open. But I bet when the trees are in full bloom, the Course is excellent. Would highly recommend it was good to play.
Beautiful Course
My second time playing there with family and I introduced an out of town friend to the course. Everyone loved it.
Please hire a starter!
Beautiful course layout- course and grounds could use some repair but overall impressed with the layout and green complexes. Mix of challenging and easier holes. Was disappointed in pace of play, seems like there is no enforcement of pace or groupings. By the 8th hole we were 3 groups deep at the tee box, and ended up calling it a day after nine. When driving back to the clubhouse, we ended up passing a foursome that was clearly holding everyone up. No one else for more than three holes after them. Behind them, multiple groups on each hole. Hesitant to return as I do not want to wait 20 mins at each hole to simply tee off. If there were better pace management or spaced groupings this course is a great one.
An old favorite that isn't aging well
Although I played this course after a hard rain and had to deal with path only rules, the soppy conditions weren't what dragged this review down. There was a general feeling about this place losing its luster that reminded me very much of one of two things. Either the owners aren't spending much on upkeep because it costs a lot to do so, or they're preparing to sell and no longer care. The carts are actually new (which is one little saving grace), but the paths and parking lot is in complete shambles. It didn't help that the we're plenty of spots where I have to drive through flooded areas, but there wasn't a smooth ride to be found anywhere. The course itself is still pretty nice. Can't really complain there. The rest, including the clubhouse, is like a trip back to the 1970's and not a dime spent in upkeep since. This was my second round here this year, and both times they had the pro shop closed in the lower level. I find this annoying since I wanted to buy a new glove. Anyway. I'm not saying stay away. This is one of the best course layouts in the area, although it's getting harder to say it's worth the trip if you're more than 20 minutes away.
hot fun
not a ton of shade on the course, but i suppose that means you stayed in the fairways so oh well. good round
Fair public course
Value is great. They have a driving range to warm up before a match, though half was closed and the tee boxes were not in good shape. They have new golf carts that are very nice. However, the car paths are quite bad: many pot holes and rough areas. We were told they're being replaced this fall.
Sand traps were fair. There's a nice half way house after #8 that's accommodating with food, drinks, and a restroom. Overall, it's fine for the cost if you're just looking to get out and play 18.
