South Shore Golf Course

I try and avoid South Shore Golf Course by all means however when k want to play last minute and the other two on this island are booked, I have no choice. That being said, they tell everyone that kids vandalized the green on 12 and 14 however, I’ve been playing this course for a while and since I can remember, these two greens were in the middle of the fairway. So I’m not sure if they don’t have the money to fix them or are too lazy but the course is clearly neglected. Certain tee boxes are turf, and the pace of play of not policed. I called the pro shop to tell them to move everyone along and they had no way of solving or remedying the situation. Golfers seen teeing off multiple times all into the woods and playing whack a mole hitting 4-5 times before they even get to the green. Just needs to be run properly and to spend some money on it.

Paid $60 and that was overpriced for the conditions. Easily the worst course conditions of any course I’ve ever played.

I have never been on a course where everything was aerated, greens (although not the temporary ones) and fairways. Cart paths were in shambles and nowhere to buy a drink or food because the concession stand makes its own hours. The staff is friendly but this place needs some major TLC.

Rangers are needed, the golfer in front of us was laying his golf bag on the green and hitting multiple balls. Those tee mats on 17 and 18 are terrible, I'd much rather hit off bare ground. But the foxes are cute. Thanks.

Don’t waste your time or money. 5 of the 9 greens on the back are terrible and 15 out of 18 tee boxes are missing grass

I really liked this course back in the day but it has fallen off big time. Tee boxes are pretty bad and there are multiple greens that are comical in presentation. The cart paths are atrocious and we saw a kid riding a scooter on the course (reported it). I do not know why people would play this on the weekend for what they charge. Hopefully things change.

The course is so convenient and the staff in the pro shop are very friendly. The course has such great potential but unfortunately the tee boxes and some greens are terribly maintained. Many tee boxes are completely dirt and two back 9 tees are temporary and artificial which doesn’t even allow you to use the regular tees. Three of the greens are in terrible condition with 11 resembling putting in your own back yard. The sad part about it is that these greens were redone at the start of this season and opened new in the end of May….today you wouldn’t even know they were in good condition two months ago.

The course is nice however for layout and convenience which makes it a desirable place to catch a quick round with friends or by yourself. I just wish they would keep the course nicer especially knowing the holes that repeatedly have the same bad conditions or at least lower the cost more than they already do. It’s only a few dollars lower than LaTourette which is in much better shape.

I love the front 9 here. It was my first time playing the full 18. I like the layout of the back 9 but the tee boxes and greens were in very poor condition. Still a great time out but putting on some of the back greens was almost impossible. Especially #11. Just picked it up.

Why would you put fake grass in a tee box. This ins not a golf range.

Tee boxes are all dirt and mud. 11th green isn’t even a green. It’s basically a rough with a hole in it. Waste of money

Tees boxes over grown. Greens were like spray painted dirt, crooked cups. Lots of issues with greens and tee boxes.

Been playing here over 10 rounds this year and for past 20 years several dozen rounds. Earlier this year it Was nice to see the new greens on 11, 12 and 14. Unfortunately the green on 11th hole is in terrible condition. Looks like a fungus has taken over. What a shame it was amazing back in May. Greens on 12 and 14 are decent but definitely not in same condition as earlier. White tee boxes have taken a beating as well. Greens on all the remaining holes are in amazing condition.

Been playing here for many years. Was happy to see greens 11, 12 and 14 reopened about a month ago. And up until when I played today greens 12 and 14 are in great shape but the green on the 11th hole has gone downhill. Green has yellowed out and dried out. Just a week and a half ago it was all green and awesome. I play from the White tee boxes for the past few years, I used to play the blues, the white tee boxes are really in bad shape

Nice to see New sand in the bunkers on the 16th hole. But why not on holes 13 and 14 ? They need it

Gave this course 4 stars for all the reasons I stated above. Love this course layout, it’s my favorite on the island.

First give a big shout out to the ground crew. Doing a fantastic job fixing up tee boxes, fairways and bunkers. Still need improvement on some holes but I can honestly say they are putting the time in. Actually saw them running the sprinklers on a few holes. Also big shout out the crew. Came around to give out water.
