Ambassador at Hickory Valley Golf Club
About
Hickory Valley Golf Club boasts two 18-hole, regulation-length courses, named the Ambassador and the Presidential. The Ambassador Course is the shorter of the two at 6,450 yards but it still offers a fair test. The classic layout is routed through towering hardwoods forests that stretch to over 70 feet high. The tall hickory trees loom over the fairways. The small greens are sloped back to front, presenting a challenge for even the most seasoned players. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are a few tricky doglegs to contend with. The bunkering is minimal but the abundant trees will be enough to keep you on your toes. The golf course has some challenging holes but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Early tee time made for a quick round
I had 7:30 tee time but arrived early and got sent out early. The course was setup for a junior tournament that day, so it was in great shape. Greens really rolled true. I was finished in less than 2.5 hours, which is a rarity these days even playing solo.
Golf
Love Hickory Valley. Played here countless times for 20 years…
Nice overall cost for golf on a Sunday; Fathers Day.
Fairways and Greens nice! Greens - fast and tricky - awesome work!
Slow pace - hire a ranger, legit pace is 4hrs or less. I don’t appreciate it wherever I golf and I don’t appreciate the slob golfing in jeans, screaming unchecked. Apparently jeans on Sunday is fine. Undo this.
Staff resolved a transactional issue with payment that was not their problem, with ease. Thank you!!
A lot of food and bev - cheap - awesome!!
Don’t appreciate music on the course. This needs to be enforced and undone with. It’s the gentlemen’s game, its not Covid Golf anymore - taking peoples money, and this isn’t LIV Golf
Love your course but please do better.
a course that requires some thought
one of the more interesting shorter courses i've played. maybe after a few rounds it gets easier. think i like to find out
Awesome course
Keep it on the fairway anything beyond that point is unforgiving. Beautifully scenic course though just the right amount of hazards and obstacles to test a player.
I bring your bug spray!
Played a Friday twilight round on a mostly empty course. Flat and walkable for those so inclined. Several creeks which wind through the course made things interesting but probably also support the healthy population of biting insects. Conditions were good. Rough was thick, but not unfair. Balls in rough were sometimes hard to find. Nearly all the greens were postage stamps. Staff was more friendly than some reviews would lead you to believe.
ambassador course needs attention
fairways, tight and weedy
roughs. up
trees, overgrown
Needs work
Course was okay but the sand traps were horrible
No rakes
The group in front of us was so slow that it took an hour to play the first three holes. They let us play through after hole four. It was a five hour round
What A Tough Course!
The rough will eat you alive, 2.5" to 3" of thick dense rough. The layout is very challanging with slow undulated greens that will make your head spin. The tee boxes suck so bad, they need to be mowed down to 0.25" to 0.50" big time.
The starter was very rude! I seen no difference in this course verse the ambassador course the cart path needs to be fixed the pace was ridiculous slow
Overpriced for maintenance
There are much better deals in the area than this. While I love the layout and how challenging it is, the maintenance is questionable at best. The greens are never the same week to week and the bunkers are awful compared to lower priced courses in the area let alone the courses charging these prices.
