Good conditions
Except for some tee boxes that need some improvement fairways and especially greens were in excellent condition
First time back in years
Course is in great condition only negative was pace of play. singles twosomes and threesomes mixed in with the 4somes. Waited on every single shot. No real reason for it Not a marshal in sight. 2+ hours for front nine 2 1/2 + for back nice for an after 12 pm tee time.
Great course
It was wet and they allowed carts on course
I think they will regret that decision
Challenging Course
First time playing here. Staff was very friendly and gave me tips about greens. Pace of play was good for a holiday. Will definitely play again in near future.
Except for being harassed…
I was accosted not once, not twice, but 4 times by on course staff. Being threatened to get thrown off the course.
Why?
My cart wheels weren’t on the path around tees and greens.
Btw, not a motorized cart my PUSH CART as I was walking!
Ridiculous. Great way to make a paying client angry and consider future tee times elsewhere.
Always fun
Always love playing this course as I love the way it’s set up as well as the greens are always true. The staff is always great and very friendly.
Too soft
The course is very soft. When you walk on the green you can see every footstep on the green. Causing putting to be bumpy and untrue rolls. I do not think the greens have ever been rolled. A couple of the tee boxes were in rough shape as well, Also there have been large ruts in the fairway for several months now due to the overall softness.
Do your homework
This was my first play at BVGC, August 2025.
I read the reviews before the day of and so should you.
I enjoyed 18 holes even though it was hot and humid.
Markley Grille was a real treat: homemade meatball sliders and fries were outstanding. Why eat a hot dog…..aye carumba !
Reading the reviews about ranger harassment was NOT the case. 9-minute tee time separation reminded me to keep our play brisk. The rangers DID make sure we had cool water on three occasions – even on the 17th hole. We fixed our ball marks and a few extras; raked the bunkers as well. One bunker was in bad shape; not sure why.
My understanding is that the carts are tracked electronically. Any reminder to players about pace of play is not biased. One practice swing on the tee box will serve you well. The greens at BVGC are not that hard to read. No need to do that [stuff] seen on TV.
To those players who had a less than positive experience: remember to do your part and enjoy golf as it was intended. The option is to play at a country club for obscene money – if they would have you as a member.
Respectfully, CH
Layout nice, condition poor, rangers are awful
Course used to be very nice, not so much anymore. Tees were in poor condition, greens soft and slow, fairways with huge bare spots. Even their signature island green par 3 had a bare spot the size of a bread plate in the middle if the green. To make matters wirse the rangers are rude and annoying. Ive played here every year several times for the past 15 years, no more, the ranger issues started abiut 5 years ago . If you stop at the turn to use the bathroom, you’ll undoubtedly have a visit from a miserable man who will make a snarky comment then soeed away abd hover for at least a few holes. No where else hsve I ever experienced such terrible rangers. Needless to say this will be the last dollar i will ever doend at Bella Bista. Changes need to be made.
Still a good course, but...
I agree with the other recent comments. Course is playing very soft due to recent rains. Some fairways were a little damaged but they roped off those areas. If the greens were firmer I would play this course again but not at full price.
Soft and Wet due to all the rain
I’ve played Bella Vist a few dozen times over the years. This was not the best shape the course has been in but it’s not bad. Course was very soft due to all the rain. A few areas roped off to really soft and wet conditions. Greens ran a little slow. Rough and fairways in pretty good shape. A couple of burnt out and diseased low lying patches in the fairways. Tee boxes in decent shape. Played after 2:00 on the weekend so rate isn’t too bad. I wouldn’t pay prime time weekend rate to play here. That’s a bad value for the $
