Raven's Claw Golf Club

About
Located in Limerick Township, Raven's Claw Golf Club is one of southeastern Pennsylvania's best golf and residential communities. It consistently ranks as one of the state's top 10. Carved from rolling hills and mature woodlands, the layout features a variety of different holes. No two holes are alike but they require some creative shot-making abilities. With tight fairways and undulating greens bordered by mounds of rough, the golf course also demands accuracy. The design incorporates links-style elements that present a formidable test. The golf course is undoubtedly challenging but there are also recovery opportunities on each hole, which makes it less daunting for beginners. One of Raven's Claw Golf Club's most memorable holes is the tricky penultimate hole. This unforgiving par-3 has a double-tiered, undulating green with no bailout areas to the left or right. Golfers that hit it short will face a blind second shot.

Over Watering
I haven’t played Ravens Claw for a couple of years. The conditions can be spotty. We played on a Saturday afternoon shortly after 12:00. The pace of play was acceptable. It took us 4:30 to play, which is pretty good because there is a lot of trouble off the tee that can slow down play. The tee boxes, fairways, rough and greens were generally in good shape. The course has been severely over watered, especially the apron/approaches. We had multiple plugged balls during the round. I almost lost a ball. It was completely below the surface just off the green. The greens were very spongy and slow. Playing late in the day, spike marks were a problem. There were also tons of ball marks on the greens (c’mon people). I got a workout fixing ball marks on every green. I love the course layout. No two holes are the same and it makes you think off the tee. The trip to the Claw is over an hour for me. While I like the track, I wouldn’t drive the hour with so many good courses much closer. Lay off the water and I’d make the drive. It would improve conditions dramatically.
Soggy but excellent round
Played on what ended up being almost a complete wash but the course held up really well though some really heavy rain.
Excellent design, this course has plenty to reward great shots and is very demanding. Especially in the middle of the round 8-14.
Course was in amazing shape and the greens were fast and challenging.
Friendly staff everywhere and kudos for some having to brave the elements. Great amenities as range balls were available complimentary to hit a few to warmup prior to teeing off.
All and all a great value for the price you’re paying. There aren’t many challenging and well kept courses like this in the area that are open to public play. Will absolutely be back to play and hopefully stay dry this time.
Awful Greens
I've played Raven's Claw several times. The course is usually in decent shape; however, the fairways and green seemed like they haven't been cut for days.
The course was dry so the storms from last week shouldn't have affected maintenance. The greens were aerated a few weeks ago; however, it is obvious they aren't being maintained.
The greens were longer than some fairways I've played (not an exaggeration) and were very bumpy with ball marks everywhere.
Overpriced and slow pace
Played here yesterday and was very disappointed with the condition of the greens and pace of play. There were tons of little patches of overgrown grass which made it extremely bumpy and difficult to putt. The pace was not good either. Had to wait on almost every shot. I didn't see a ranger out there moving people along either. At 9am this shouldn't be the case. I don't expect slow pace or poor greens at a course that is charging $79. I love playing here and have played here numerous times. The layout is phenomenal and the conditions are usually great but as I said, for $79, the condition of the greens and pace of play yesterday were unacceptable.
Challenging, Fun and In Great Shape
It's October and the links at Raven's Claw are full of tricks and treats. The design is far from the boring norm of public fares, and the condition of both fairways and greens are superb, a real treat after the weather we have endured. The multiple sets of tees make the course playable for all, but for those who choose to play from the tips the challenge is formidable and fair.
It is rare to find a public course that every level of golfer can be excited about playing. And the rolling terrain brings a cerebral element into account if one wants to post his or her best score. You can bomb away at times, but often the best reward comes by knowing what type of shot to play and when.
Overall a hidden gem, although not as much as in the past as golfers near and far have spread the word of the delight that is Raven's Claw.
Course is going Downhill Fast
Used to play here all the time when I lived closer in the area, back in 2015-2017, course was always in great shape, greens, fairways, teeboxes, etc. Now every year when I come back to play here, it's always something. Course had a 20 minute frost delay, which is fine I understand that, but then for the round to take 5.5 hours after that is unacceptable. Had to call the pro shop to get it to speed it. We had one person leave our group due to the time. Greens were bumpy, choppy around the pins, dead spots on the greens and fairways, teeboxes torn to shreds.
For $80, that is a ripoff, if the course was charging in the $50 price range that would be the max I would pay for the course. The best fairway and green was the driving range and the practice green. Everything else was sub-par. Probably my last time playing the course.
not worth the price
expensive for the condition . Pace slightly slow. greens lots of ball marks. Would expect better for the cost
Always one of the best in the area
It’s a must play each year. Great staff and course!
Top 10 course in PA!
Once you play it, you’ll see why it is ranked top 10 in Pennsylvania. It’s a lot of fun from the whites and a real bear from the blacks, if you’re looking for a challenge. The course has excellent scenery and makes you feel like you traveled a lot further than you actually did.
The restaurant is family owned and a great place to grab a sandwich and something to drink after your round. The staff is always extremely friendly and fun to talk with after you’re done.
The PGA professional Jim Bromley is one of the best teaching pros in the area if you’re up for a lesson.
One of the best in PA
Nicely maintained with great staffs. Course layout is fun yet challenging. Like it very much.
Perfect weather for golf
Played Ravens Claw with my league as we do every year. Course was in ok shape. Guys in the league were able to score, many had their best round of the year. I know aeration of the greens is coming and the greens definitely show wear from all the play. I always enjoy playing Ravens Claw and I have played there many times. I know each hole very well, but there are plenty of challenges for golfers of all handicaps.
Terrible Management
I want to thank you for wasting my time today. I drive an hour and 20 minutes to get there for my 240 tee time today. When I arrived at 220 I was told the people I was scheduled to play with had been sent out 20 minutes earlier! Also, my 240 tee time was no longer available so I'd have to wait until after 3 to go off by myself behind groups of foursomes. No thanks.
The whole reason I booked the tee time was because I was told I would be joining a group. I would have booked at another golf course had I known tee times were mismanaged there.
How hard is it to stick to a tee sheet?
Why did you ask for my number if you can't simply call me and tell me what was going on.
Terrible management
Great Day of Golf
From the time you pull onto the property you feel like you’re on a golf community. The club is great, all the employees go above and beyond to make you feel at home and to make sure you have the best day of golfing ever! I can’t say enough great things about this place. The course is beautiful and very well thought out. But besides that, it’s the employees who make the place great, from the girl behind the bar to the guys checking the course on carts to the guy who sets you up in the clubhouse to get you going for the day, can’t ask for a better way to spend a weekend. I highly recommend to anyone and everyone!!!!
Challenging course yet fun to play
Great layout. Some very challenging holes especially if you’re not accurate off the tee.
Greens aerated recently. Pretty much all area courses are doing the same so no surprise. Price was discounted as a result.
The fairways needed some tlc but it’s been a tough summer with too much rain.
2nd time playing here and I enjoy the challenge. You need to hit some shots off the tee where placement is more important than distance.
Nice clubhouse with shower facilities.
Worth playing here if you have the chance.
Really good public course
I played the course multiple times in preparation to caddy for the Symetra Tour tournament in late May. It was well maintained as always, greens rolled well and consistently. Tee boxes and traps in above average condition. I’ve always liked the staff and they continue to be friendly and helpful.
The layout is varied to keep you interested, and gets tricky at the turn to wake you back up.
It continues to be a favorite in the 50 mile area.
Raven's Claw
I used to play raven's Claw a lot, not so much in recent years but went back for Father's Day.
Greens were fantastic, rolled fast and true, with very few ball marks or areas of need. Much better than I remember and better than most public courses you will play. I was impressed.
Rest of the course was in good shape as well - played firm on the fairways.
Hate hole #11, #17 is a bear.
December Bonus Round
Love this course. Usually use my $10 reward to play here. It’s a challenge from the tips (which I never play from) but the golds are great. The fairways are wide enough especially the front 9. I enjoy this course and only a few folks braved the elements so pace of play was great.
Great value
I really enjoy this course. Wide open but not easy, playable for everyone.
