Mountain Valley Golf Course - Valley Course

This is such a great complex and it is truly a shame that it is closing after this season.

Great course have played it many times especially in a tournament style. But was nice to just play with the family. Sad its closing end of season.

Let’s begin with 3 notes:

1. I am a rough eater, so consider that. I rate against “perfect”

2. The staff could not have been friendlier or nicer or more accommodating.

3. The weather the past month has been very up and down, so the condition of the course, which I rated a 4, could easily have been a five but for the harshness of the weather. It wasn’t an issue of lack of care or effort.

I don’t generally like mountain courses, but the entire front nine I kept telling my friend how much I was enjoying the course and how much I’d absolutely play it again. I also shot a 41, so that helps!

Then we hit the back 9. THIS is why I do t like mountain courses!! I don’t think I took a single shot after the tee where the ball wasn’t above or below my feet. And maybe I’m wrong here, but no matter which direction we were hitting, the wind seemed to be coming at us! I shot a 50.🫣

My only complaint was the pace of play. It took 4:30 to play 18. We were a duo with duos ahead of and behind us. In front of the 2 in front of us were two foursomes who were slow and refused to let anyone through. On the 12th tee I called the clubhouse and they sent someone out,, but pace never improved. While waiting on the 18th tee, two groups behind us drove past and just skipped the hole. That was my only real gripe. But again, the course was in very good shape for the time of year and the staff was great. I’d go back for sure.

Was very disappointed with course. Literally no grass on fairways. Greens were spotty. They allowed high school golfers on the course in the middle of the round. They were supposed to let us play through. Ended up skippong holes because of that. Went to the Pro Shop to discuss. Well that was worthless. Could not have been more dismissive. I travel 90 minutes to play here and always thought is was worth it. Not anymore. Save your time and money.

Greens are perfect. Fairways are perfect. Make this one of your stops.

The course, as always, was not watered very well during this dry summer. With regular watering this course would be a five star experience all day every day.

The closure of the main clubhouse to golfers is very disappointing. The new/old clubhouse is okay, but just”okay.”

Love this place, 2 great 18 hole courses, well maintained, great clubhouse and food, awesome layout and scenery. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for some nice courses to play.

Very disappointing. This course has gone way downhill over the last several years. The tee boxes were overgrown on more than half the holes. The fairways had mushrooms growing on them, you couldn’t tell if it was your ball or a mushroom until

You got closer to it. Greens not in the greatest of shape either. Probably one of, if not the last time I’d go back here.
