Tour 18 Houston
About
Parlaying the successes of the Dallas-area Tour 18, Houston's version of America's greatest holes has become one of Harris County's most popular golf destinations. This one takes advantage of the Southeast Texas pines, with towering trees lining every hole, and the impressive conditions that have made both Tour 18s popular with the public.
Two holes stand out on the front side, and they're not the replicas of Augusta's Amen Corner (5-7 on this track). No. 1 is perhaps the most difficult on the course, intimidating off the tee because it is surrounded by wetlands. You'll need a solid drive to start well on this narrow, 440-yard hole. Bay Hill, La Costa, Inverness, and Pinehurst are also modeled, but the other great hole on the front is No. 9, a version of TPC Sawgrass's island hole.
Texas' own Colonial's third hole makes a showing on No. 12, and you'll get to see what Pebble Beach might feel like on No. 13. And those who've played the Dallas track know that the crew can sometimes get diabolical with their stimp-meter readings and pin placements, which is similar to what happens on No. 15-a replica of Shinnecock Hills' 8th hole. The green on this one slopes so heavily toward the front that a three-jack is almost certain.
Doral rears its head on No. 18, the perfect finishing hole for this track. Play the approach to the right side of the green, away from the water left, just like the pros do when they're protecting that precious lead.
Getting there : From US 59 north, turn right on FM 1960 and drive east for about 2 miles to the course entrance.

Hole 9 Photo submitted by bullet2008 on 08/20/2013
Definitely going back!
Was a very beautiful course. Fun and challenging. Very well maintained. Definitely going back. They had all the cool and historical holes we'd expect and it did not disappoint. Drove all the way from Dallas area just to play.
Fun course
Always a treat to play here. But a 5 hour round on a Monday isn't what I wanted. The birdie on 9 made it easier.
Good value for what I paid
Greens are hard and difficult to hold. Layout is good but needs a lot of basic maintenance.
Played just the back 9. Interesting concept in theory but doesn’t always pan out. Hole 16 for instance is just not a well designed hole.
They allow fivesomes? And we were stuck behind a group that had a child taking at least 20 ish strokes a hole but Marshall said nothing. Cart girl just hangs at intersection of two holes.
Great course after the Masters’.
This is one of my favorite places to play in the Houston area. Awesome course for scenery and play. The hot dogs are great and the staff is super friendly and helpful. (Almost don’t want to review to keep you people away. But, this place is worth it!)
Always Solid
People can complain all they want, but T18 is always a solid choice. Greens and fairways are always nice and the layout…well that’s why you go there! Got to catch a hot deal to really get value since it’s on the high end. Maintenance crew was scrambling during our round pumping out water from sand bunkers. Those will need some work, but they were on it.
At least we got through Amen Corner and Sawgrass...
Intermittent showers cased the cart path girl off early. Rain got serious after our tee shot on 17, so couldn't finish the round. Course played well through the showers, greens drained well enough to keep playing.... until lightning and flash flooding, etc.
Still, enjoyed the round before going home to watch the real Masters.
Pretty Good
I played this course 20 years ago and decided to try again on this trip to Houston area. The reviews were marginal but decided to try. The staff in the clubhouse, grill, and starter group were all excellent, friendly, and approachable. The course itself has gone down slightly. The bunkers haven’t been maintained. They are playable but need some trimming and raking. The fairways were by and large very good. Nice firmness, well trimmed. A few thin spots here and there but that goes with this time of year. Greens were excellent. Good condition, smooth roll, held well, I’d play again. Good value.
Good concept but lack the aura…
When you advertise dreams, it is easy to disappoint. For most of us, playing the championship holes will remain a wish - Tour 18 proposes to get close to that…but does not deliver. The course feels old and the upkeep is not at the level expected. Do not get me wrong - it is ok to play it - but while some holes are interesting and challenging, in the end I do not feel it was special. To be fair, I only played the back nine…and missed Amen Corner and the Island Hole replica. But that half of the course was average.
Great course/ Horrible staff
Marshals were extremely rude and need a major attitude adjustment.
Nice Concept
Although I was not at my best this day, the course offering was a good challenge. Most courses that I frequently play are mostly straight and wide open. This course truly challenged my abilities to hit fairways. Most of the fairways were in great shape. Some had a few spots in them but nothing I would condemn the course for. I have played courses that had far more issues for more money. Greens were well kept, firm and fast. Will be playing again ——> when I figure out my issue of course!
