About

Holes 18
Type Public
Par 72
Length 6782 yards
Slope 129
Rating 72.7

Parlaying the successes of the Dallas-area Tour 18, Houston's version of America's greatest holes has become one of Harris County's most popular golf destinations. This one takes advantage of the Southeast Texas pines, with towering trees lining every hole, and the impressive conditions that have made both Tour 18s popular with the public.

Two holes stand out on the front side, and they're not the replicas of Augusta's Amen Corner (5-7 on this track). No. 1 is perhaps the most difficult on the course, intimidating off the tee because it is surrounded by wetlands. You'll need a solid drive to start well on this narrow, 440-yard hole. Bay Hill, La Costa, Inverness, and Pinehurst are also modeled, but the other great hole on the front is No. 9, a version of TPC Sawgrass's island hole.

Texas' own Colonial's third hole makes a showing on No. 12, and you'll get to see what Pebble Beach might feel like on No. 13. And those who've played the Dallas track know that the crew can sometimes get diabolical with their stimp-meter readings and pin placements, which is similar to what happens on No. 15-a replica of Shinnecock Hills' 8th hole. The green on this one slopes so heavily toward the front that a three-jack is almost certain.

Doral rears its head on No. 18, the perfect finishing hole for this track. Play the approach to the right side of the green, away from the water left, just like the pros do when they're protecting that precious lead.

Getting there : From US 59 north, turn right on FM 1960 and drive east for about 2 miles to the course entrance.

Enjoyable round of golf

Course condition in decent shape - Greens a little bumpy as recovering from being punched earlier in the month. Pro shop staff and Bar staff very friendly!

Past its Prime!

Played this course a few years ago and it was very nice. It has definitely seen better times.

The entrance sign looks like a $2 banner. The drive in looks like something from the movie “Deliverance”.

The Clubhouse is depressing, the bathrooms were disgusting and the driving range is dumpy.

This course should be $40 bucks at best, but $125 is crazy and I was a moron for paying that much!

Fun round, will be back for sure

9 holes for $55 is definitely worth it for this course. I recommend it to anyone. Only thing that got the course four stars instead of five was that the greens were being worked on

Fantastic course, slow play

Course layout is fun and in exceptional condition. Would be great to have a marshall circulating to keep up pace of play. The dispensers of ice cold water around the course are a lifesaver!

Great golf course

I got to play it twice in my stay in Houston. Great idea to have a course with all these famous holes. Fairways and greens were excellent when I played the first time. They were aerating the greens on the second time, but they weren’t bad. Very friendly staff. Driving range and putting/chipping green was very good.

Greens punched

Course in good shape considering how much rain lately. The greens were being aerated but we knew that ahead of time. Cart path only made for a long hot day! But again rain caused this and made the traps kind of hard to play. This is a very good course and I always enjoy it.

One thing they need some sort of way (bell or something) to let you know when 5th fairway is clear. Now before teeing off you have to drive up to see what’s happening … and feel kinda nervous on the fairway knowing someone might hit into you.

Overall good conditions. Due to recent rain traps unplayable

Hole numer 5 has a safety issue. Blind tee shot and easy to drive into group in front of you. Needs either a periscope to see over hill or some sort of bell to signal fairway is clear.

Tour 18 - must play!

Tour 18 was in good condition, except they punched the greens/sand so beware going forward. We played the back nine first while they punched the front nine.

Definitely going back!

Was a very beautiful course. Fun and challenging. Very well maintained. Definitely going back. They had all the cool and historical holes we'd expect and it did not disappoint. Drove all the way from Dallas area just to play.

Fun course

Always a treat to play here. But a 5 hour round on a Monday isn't what I wanted. The birdie on 9 made it easier.

Good value for what I paid

Greens are hard and difficult to hold. Layout is good but needs a lot of basic maintenance.
