About
Situated just 25 minutes outside of New Orleans, Oak Harbor Golf Club is one of the area's most popular courses. The course is a challenging test without being too intimidating for beginners. It offers risk-reward holes that will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. Lee Schmidt, who worked closely with Pete Dye, designed the golf course, and incorporated many of Dye's signature features into the design. Sculpted mounding and native grasses frame the generous landing areas and you'll even find Dye's trademark railroad ties framing the greens. There are also several lakes that come into play throughout. Oak Harbor Golf Club's seventh and 15th holes are particularly notable for their intimidating tee shots over water. If you strategize carefully, the four par 5s provide some birdie opportunities but you'll have to carefully navigate through a combination of water, traps, and undulations.

Golfer Reviews
Hot Course - No shade
Tee boxes fair to ok condition.
Fairways rough lots of divots. For whatever reason there is no sand on any carts or any par 3 - you can’t repair the course as you play.
Cart paths are nice a few bumps very good overall.
Bunkers so so for the most part acceptable.
Enough water and forced carries make for a nice challenge.
Greens are very nice and roll good - big plus that sort of makes up for the other course defects.
No cart service, did not use any staged water.
Would play again, would recommend- this course is really hot 90+% in direct sunlight. Plan accordingly.
Could have been better
The course layout was great, the course condition Fair greens have been aerated about 2 weeks earlier Fairways crispy not a lot of grass. Pro was nice service staff was nice Unfortunately they did not let us know they were closing the Pro Shop and bathroom facilities at 6:00 p.m. we teed off at 4:05 unable to grab any more beverages for the back nine and it was 93° in humid and the GPS system on the carts was messed up cart would not go forward had to drive cart in Reverse sometimes 80 yards to get out of the GPS loophole screw up this went on for several holes on the back side. It could have been a much better experience I wanted to buy some shirts and the pro shop but it was closed.
Great value, wil be back!
I've played this course in the past, its a fun track. Somehow the greens are in the best shape of any course i've played in years, the fairways are a little dry and beat up but to be expected in south louisiana in July. This course is a putters dream right now, don't hesitate to book
Could be such a great course
Could be such a great course if someone would put some money into it and fill holes. Tee boxes need serious work. Greens are great but fairways and tee boxes are terrible.
Greens are awesome
Coarse wasn’t very crowded for a Sunday afternoon.
Greens were excellent. They really take pride in the greens.
The tee boxes need the same love. But easily the best coarse for your money.
Greens are slow but your ball rolls true. Fairways are where this course struggles. Lots of random ground in repair and holes and dirt patches. I recommend driving slow in the cart. Bring a lot of balls.
Dangerous coditions
My son and I played last weekend on Saturday 9:45 tee,it’s late June, temps in 90s, high humidity. While the greens, green side area and most of the fairways were in very good condition, the rough was layered with dead cut grass. It’s been hot and rainy, no excuse for rough and areas on either side of cart path.
However, the complete disregard for health of players is dangerous, there was no cart service the entire day. When we questioned the club attendant at the turn, she explained management was struggling with when to have staff on course.
It got worse, we were told ground crew was responsible for filling water coolers on course and emptiness trash. There was one water cooler on front, #3. So we played 6 holes without water, other than the bottles we brought along.
The back had jug at 11, with luke warm water and an empty jug at 13. That’s it.
Bring your own food and water, they won’t provide any.
fairway bad shape
Lots of water, Fairway and rough condition. Everything else good
Solid Value
Good, long layout, nice greens and tee boxes. The fairways and rough could use a lot of leveling, Great value.
Great greens!
I played Oak Harbor with a couple of buddies. The course is in good shape. The fairways have a few bad spots but nothing horrible. The greens are amazing. Every green looks great and the ball rolls consistent on all of them. A great course for the value.
Fairways
Very good layout of this course..very nice greens..but they refuse to fix the fairways over the years and I just don't understand it
Wildbill
Driving range is horrible. Fairways are bad but greens are descent
