Mystic Dunes Golf Club

Course was under repair with recent aeration and new sod noted in various places, including greens. Plays long and requires some precision shots. Very undulating greens difficult to read. Overall, a good place to play given the right price which is hard to get anymore.

This is my second time playing here. It is a tough course but a beautiful layout. First, the greens were in bad shape. There was sand on just about every hole making difficult to put. The greens are already hard enough without the sand. Second, some of the greens had patches of new grass making it difficult to put because it would slow down your shot. For $35 it's OK but for more than that I will go somewhere else. Staff are very friendly and awesome to deal with which is a plus.

Wow! I enjoyed my round even though I played so poorly. This course is fun to play. Reminds me of my home course at balboa park in San Diego. My only negative comment would be about the greens. There were 4 holes where the greens were in such bad shape you could not roll the ball. It’s obvious they’re working on it so hopefully that improves. But they maintain the course so well besides those issues which could be freeze related damage. I think if I played the course again id know more about what it’ll take to score here. Proper approach shots, these greens are really hard/gimmicky and the way you approach really can make or break a score card. Everyone was friendly and I will be coming back!

for a highly rated course - the upkeep on the grass is somewhat terrible.

It needs some TLC. Not sure if they have a fungus issue - there are some really bald spots out there and the price for T time does not reflect that. There are some greens that will not hold your ball. We call them the upside down bowl greens.

Greens were full of so many patches you couldn’t putt through them.

This course is only going to get better if they continue to maintain it some greens were under construction but we’re still rolling well the staff was great from the guy in the pro shop and the twins at the carts will only get better with the summer rain

Played Mystic Dunes years ago when it was new and it was great , returned a couple of years later and what a disappointment, was delighted at my visit yesterday as it was terrific ( couple of trouble spots on greens ) but from where it was to now is such a turnaround. Will play again without a doubt .

I’ve played before and enjoyed it so brought my 3 buddies while on our golf trip. So disappointed with the state of the fairways (bare patches on almost every one) and greens (much the same, larger bare patches, some very poorly repaired areas). Not the courses fault but the lack of bunker raking is so annoying.

Feel bad giving the staff a lower rating but the starter was not a pleasant man who talked at us, didn’t listen and said behind his desk with the lid up while talking to us.

Shame because I enjoy the layout and I will be back, but not with my holding buddies who said never again.

Course layout is fun and challenging but the pace of play was probably some of the worst I’ve had. Waiting 5-10 minutes every tee box

Had the 3rd tee time of the day, so pace of play was no problem. Enjoyed the course and the conditions. A few rough spots on a few greens, but nothing crazy. Starter was very friendly and thorough. Would certainly go back and play again.

Challenging course and layout. Waste bunkers are a huge penalty. Greens are tough with some being extremely sloped. Hard for someone who doesn’t know the layout. Greens are a mess though. Looks like a fungus has gotten to them all. Shame. I hope they recover.

Several greens are in very bad condition. No one informed us of this prior to play. Everything else was fine.

It’s not a terrible condition, but I think it’s a bit overpriced for the condition that it’s in. Some of the greens are in really rough shape, they’re also very inconsistent. Bunkers are terrible, rock hard under an inch of fluff. Other than that, in the condition that it’s in, I say it’s a $50/60 course at best.

I always enjoy playing Mystic Dunes as a high handicap player. Others I played with complained about the greens mentioning the course was better maintained before Hilton took it over. I plan to play again.
