Lago Vista Golf Course
About
The Lago Vista Course is Lago Vista resort’s original track, designed by Leon Howard in the late 1960s and renovated by Dave Bennett in 1992. The golf course has four water holes, more than 40 bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Lago Vista is known for its demanding par 3s, which all go right at 200 yards. No. 10 is fun because it can be reached in two: a 495-yard par 5 with a creek that looms right.
Getting to Lago Vista: From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north to FM 1431, then turn west 11 miles. When you come to Lohmas Ford Rd. turn left and drive 3 miles, then turn right on Boggy Ford R. Veer to the right and follow the signs to the golf course.

Golfer Reviews
They are making progress
2nd time in 2 weeks I have played here. It used to be my home course when I first started playing almost 14 years ago at 53 until it fell into disrepair. After going back 2 weeks ago I was very impressed with the condition of the greens compared to the last time I played there. They are also putting in all new irrigation system which unfortunately has the fairways so hard they are impossible to hit a good shot off the hard pan on some of the holes. I can't wait to see how well the new system brings the fairways back.
Getting crispy
The course is getting dry. Irrigation is going in now so lots of ground is torn up. Still a bargain
Lago Vista 07242026
Course is in good shape but the sprinkler system is not installed yet so lots of trenches and dirt piles sometimes interferes with your play.
Nice course in the making
Course was better than expected. People there were unbelievably friendly! The gentleman in the club house told us about the construction. When they get the irrigation done, and working, the course will be totally different. I sure would play it again
1st visit
I didn’t complete 18 holes. I was unaware that all golf carts have to be in by 7pm when I booked my 4pm Tee time. Overall I enjoyed the course. I will play it again.
Course needs TLC
Price is fair for the course. Pace of play was good. Course conditions need some improvement.
Putting in the work
Still 3-4 greens that have sand patch marks, but the rest are rolling nice. And you can see they are putting the money into new irrigation all over the course. It could be special next year.
Great little getaway!
This is a great course with beautiful views and some very challenging holes. The staff is great and very welcoming. The course co editions have improved greatly over the last 2 years with more improvement projects in the work!
Better
I have not played this course in over 10 years, but I have kept up with reviews. Based on those, it appears that this course is making a comeback. Some tee boxes are a mess. Some greens have sand filled dimples. But overall it is a playable course and, for the Austin area, a cheaper option. There are some wide open holes and some holes requiring accuracy. Note: I still haven't figured out the best way to play #16. To the City of Lago Vista: Please continue to improve this course!
