Point Venture Golf Club
About
Built along Lake Travis in 1971, Point Venture was the first course in Leander, but has been overshadowed since the opening of Crystal Falls. The course has 9 holes that meander through a residential development and is loaded with dogleg holes and mature trees.
Jimmy Demaret designed the course, and his layout features two nasty par 5s. The best hole on the course is No. 7–a scenic hole that starts from an elevated tee box and plays downhill to a green surrounded by a lake.
Getting there : From I-35, exit FM 1431 and drive west approximately 25 miles to Lago Vista. Turn left on Lohman Ford Rd. and drive 8 miles to the Point Venture guard gate.

Great Place To Play
If you want chill laid back golf with some good views, this is the place to play! Good course layout and one of my favorite things is that Point adventure has a grass range to warm up with. They also have a golf sim onsite which is relatively new and I’ve yet to try it out but it looks cool and offers an alternative to warm up at (for a small fee of course). The 7th hole has a great view and hole 5 has an opportunity to win some $$$ with a hole-in-one. They Caddy Shack also features a full bar and has live music there often. I will add that there are plenty of deer who like to leave their mark and pellets behind on the course but the staff do a great job of keeping the tee boxes and greens well kept and free of deer dung lol. Overall, a cool spot with lots of character and great to sharpen your game without the hazards that make for a hard time.
Fun, fast 9 hole.
Played Point Venture Golf Course for the first time and had an awesome experience. The course conditions were great from tee to green, and the greens themselves can definitely keep you on your toes—in a good way. You can tell they put real care into maintaining the place.
Most of the staff was fantastic and really gave off that small, local club vibe that makes you feel right at home. The only downside was the gentleman who took payment; since it was my first time, I was hoping for a warmer welcome, but he wasn’t the most pleasant.
Even with that small hiccup, the overall experience was excellent. The layout, the views, and the atmosphere make Point Venture a spot I’ll absolutely be returning to. Highly recommend giving it a shot. ⛳️
Wild and Cute
Great little 9 hole course repeated twice for 18 holes but worth the repeat. Full of wild deer who are extremely friendly. Worth playing.
A green golf course!
After playing some other courses that have suffered with the drought it was nice to play on grass! The pro shop attendant wasn’t the friendliest. There are no bunkers, which was new. The fairways and greens were really well mown so your ball travels quite a ways.
In great shape
Pointe Venture is always in great shape! Definitely worth the drive to Lago to play a nice relaxing round of golf with great people!
Solid Course!
Wish this course was closer to me, I drove an hour and a half to play but definitely worth the money. Got a great deal, $15! (With a credit)
$15 for 18 holes and a cart at 11:30AM…not even a basic par 3 runs for that price! Conditions were great, green had slight dimples from aeration but not really enough to alter a putt.
Not usually a fan of 9 hole courses, but there’s so many ways to play the course the second round of 9 seems new. Slopes and wind kicking throughout the trees make it fun.
Basically played all the Par 4s with a driver - 56/60° wedge - putter.
Overall, definitely enjoyed. If I end up in the area, I’ll be back.
By far the worst golfing experience I’ve ever had. Booked a tee time on the GolfNow app, paid online and had the money come out of my bank account. Got to the course and they didn’t have my tee time. I proved it with bank statements, confirmation emails, and confirmation numbers. Had to end up paying double to play. Was told we had a free meal with the round… the free meal was a hotdog. Imagine that! The starter had my tee time down on his notebook but the person in the pro shop obviously didn’t. We had 6 groups of four skip ahead of us while waiting on the first tee. The course double booked EVERY tee time and then acted like it was everyone else’s fault. Overall the course was in horrible shape. Tee boxes were complete sand, the fairways were patchy as could be, and the greens looked like a European city during WWII. Just an overall horrible establishment. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU’RE OUT OF TOWN!!!!!
PV is OK!
Greens are getting back in shape. Fun course to play!
