The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes

About
The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes sits along the pristine headwaters of the Florida Everglades, surrounded by live oaks, towering pines, and palmettos. Two-time British Open Champion Greg Norman designed the golf course. He and his team focused on preserving the area's natural beauty and ecosystem. The ponds, wetlands, and mature trees were carefully protected and incorporated into the challenges of the design. The final result blends in so seamlessly it's as though the golf course had been there all along. Norman's commitment to the environment was recognized with the course's certification as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The player-friendly layout has wide fairways and generous landing areas but the subtly contoured greens and strategically placed hazards will keep you on your toes. Five sets of tees make the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes even more accessible to players of any skill level.

Wrapping up a great day. Photo submitted by Scott4497478 on 11/06/2012
You Get What You Pay For
Usually a $400 green fee but I got a $75 discount for staying on property. Beautiful practice facility with grass ranges, a short game practice area, and putting green. Played twice in one weekend. Both rounds done around 4 hours, not bad for a holiday weekend. Great company playing with locals and with vacationers. Course is in great condition. Wide fairways and smaller than usual greens. Greens got faster as the day went along. I like this place better than Waldorf and the Disney courses also in the area. Barry in the pro shop give above and beyond customer service. Staff is super helpful and friendly. I used ship sticks and it was a seamless experience. No cart girl around the course but there are stations for food and drink in the front and at the turn. I’d come again, I just have to save up lol. Spending lots of time in the practice area before and after my round made me feel like I got my money’s worth. 9 out of 10.
Awesome to play a fully overseeded track a few days after the Father son. Would not have played if I had to pay the GN price of 375. Top 5 course in central Florida during December.
Review
Played a few days after the Father son. Always awesome to play a course that overseeds fairways and rough. 375 is really steep for a course like this. But it is a top 5 Orlando track in December.
Grande Lakes
Course has a number of issues with the surrounds to several of the greens. We were given no notice in advance and were disappointed to be charged the full rate which was expensive compared to other similar courses. While the staff were very courteous and sympathetic they were not prepared to do anything.
Catering and staff in the clubhouse were excellent.
You would expect more…
I don’t like leaving reviews but the course was in terrible condition. Bunkers were never raked initially and were rock solid. No grass on parts of the fairway which put you in trouble even when hitting fairways off the tee and many more issues. You just expect more from the Ritz.
Overpriced for the course condition
Very friendly staff and good course layout, but fairways, areas around the greens, and traps are in bad condition: brown spots, hard sand, etc.
Not worth the money
This is your average resort course. The greens are flat, bunkers are flat, fairways are huge and not very memorable. You might remember one or two holes after your round. For $355 you could play 50 of the top 100 courses in the US, this course is not in the top 300. I would pay $125 at best for this course, if you like courses without character than this course is for you. There are much better courses in the area for much lower prices.
Fun course
My son and I played there last Monday and Tuesday. He is a high school junior and staff was great with him. Course conditions were fantastic. Juniors play free.
Beautiful course. Our caddy Scott was fantastic. Staff around the facility were great.
Thoroughly enjoyed the bunkers….. each and everyone of them!!
Amazing Experience
We had a wonderful 18. The staff were very friendly. The course is somewhat expensive, and there were some small areas around the greens where the grass was less than perfect, however it still had what I would call tour level firm greens and fairways. Our caddie, Bob, was fantastic and made the day 10 times more fun. If you are here and can get him, I would highly recommend him.
Foecaddie was a ZeroCaddie
I’ve played the course about a dozen times, but I’m not sure I’ll be back. I wouldn’t have been there this time because of the outrageous price ($355), but I was lucky enough to have a free round. In accordance with club policy, my foursome was given a forecaddie. He was terrible. Didn’t rake a bunker, find a wayward shot, or read a putt unless he was asked.
