Thundering Waters Golf Club
About
Thundering Waters Golf Club, so named for its proximity to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, has a unique layout that combines a parkland course with the tricky elements of a heathland golf course. There is an interesting combination of drivable par 4s and scenic par 3s that will provide a formidable test for even the most skilled players. The golf course first winds through heavily wooded patches and then finds its way to rugged hills dotted with thick fescue where true links-style holes with deep bunkers and large, undulating greens await you. The layout also features several doglegs and more than 100 bunkers strategically placed throughout. Water hazards come into play on 10 holes. Thundering Waters Golf Club was Canada's first John Daly signature golf course.

Course is not marked at all
There is not one yardage marker on the course (100, 150 or 200 yards). There are no yardage plates in the fairway. The course does not even tell you which way to get to the next hole and some holes are about a five minute cart drive. It is very easily to get lost your first time here.
The greens were in great shape but every bucker was being redone on the course and were full of grass and weeds.
I would not go back to this course. Instead play Rockway in Lincoln.
Thundering Waters
Played this course two days after a torrential rain shower, course was very wet, that was too be expected. Greens are in good condition, running pretty well with minimal ball marks on them. Every bunker on the course is in shambles, no sand at all, look like waste areass. Very disappointed they have very ittle to no yardage markers on the course, very hard to club select and pull proper clubs especially when it's cart path only. Makes for a frustrating experience. Hospitality was great, pro shop attendant, starter and on course marshal were very kind and pleasant.
A Real Gem
This is a course that I’ve played for a good number of years now and is one of my favourites to play in the Niagara region….. This is certainly not one of the longer courses in the region, but presents some real challenges depending upon which tee boxes you’re playing from…there’s narrow fairways on a number of the holes, some narrower greens on certain holes and some definite risk/reward shots one will come across along the way. Once the bunkers get redone, this will be a top notch course without one having to pay an “arm and a leg” to play it….
The greens were nice and quick without being diabolical…they rolled as true as possible. Tee boxes are in very nice shape. The cart paths are in pretty nice shape and you can see some interesting wildlife from time to time. I am looking forward to playing this shortly.
Bunkers Need Repair
Bunkers were non playable, just dirt and weeds
Marshall needs to keep groups moving at a correct pace of play
The prices were great (spring time). Only 1 flaw
Overall a great course. The only flaw is- the sand bunkers were terrible shape
Wet Spring
I especially enjoy the layout of this course as the holes have variety and with the undulations and water hazards it makes it very challenging. Unfortunately with the wet spring there was no roll on tee shots and it was cart path only. Also the bunkers are under repair and not playable. In view of the bunker situation I think the price per round could be adjusted. Despite the conditions I thoroughly enjoyed my round.
The greens well maintained
In May, the power carts at the golf course were pass-only, but it was nice to be able to play with a cart this time. The greens were well-maintained, and the staff were friendly, which was great.
Poor Bunkers
Greens and fairways fantastic shape, but unfortunately the fairway and green bunkers were bad. We spoke to the starter and he told us that they were going to be repaired once the weather gets better . Word of advice stay out of the bunkers
Super Friendly and helpful staff !!!
This was my first time playing here and it was typical early season conditions. Cart path only which slowed the pace of play a bit. Fairways and greens were very nice. The bunkers were pretty bad but the started told us they were in the process of repairing the green side bunkers. There were a couple holes that could have been marked better though. Overall it was a pleasant experience and a good value. I would definitely play there again.
Great layout and good condition
The layout is very interesting and challenging, the course is well maintained
Sand traps are terrible
Great little course, nice layout, greens in good shape, traps are crap
This course was in great shape,
Even with all the rain, the course was in great shape. Highly recommend Thundering Waters
