Greens need a little work
Conditions very acceptable, with the exception of a number of greens which had sprouts that did not allow for true putting.
Time
The course doesn’t open until 10 and the range was said to open at 1030..??… so a 1040 Tee time allows for lil to no warm up .. but the track is is fun .. greens well they have been the same for years … lil funky weeds…but still
Manageable …
Green Conditions below par
As with many local courses Newport Golf Course is having issues with weeds populating the greens. So much so that the weeds impacting putts.
Fairways are in average condition. Pace of play was very favorable as the course was scarcely populated.
I hope to see green conditions improve. If so I could in good conscience recommend the course to friends.
Greens fees at Newport could be more competitive, Premium price for course conditions that are not meeting par.
Great layout
Fun track . Just seems like they can’t get rid of that funky weed on the greens …Same conditions for years but still a fun track …
Only with Hot Rate and using my Tee Credit
I paid only $26 after a hotel rate and using my Golfnow tee credit. I would only play again for the same rate on a weekend again when everything else is expensive. This is my second time to play the course and 2 times I have had a member jump in front of me at number 10, they need to monitor this as this created extra slow play on the back nine and made us wait on #10 for ten minutes extra.
Now about the course, the tee boxes were horrendous, many with no grass, many with major bumps and nothing level. Almost all of the fairways had no grass. I know we haven't had much rain but got to water fairways at some point and this was like a summer drought conditions. Greens were terrible, lots of weeds causing bumps. Inconsistent green speeds from hole to hole as well.
Fun course
Pace was great. The greens were a little ruff with the unknown grass growing on them. The course does have a great layout.
Green weeds
The putting greens are inundated with weeds that affect most putts. Carts were clean & pro shop was very friendly!
Stonebridge good Hotdeal value
Course was great overall. But about a third of the greens were covered in crab grass which was annoying.
Bday party
Out in sticks but an average track, good for money. A few weeds on greens. But greens rolled ok. Good place to eat, staff nice
Good course but…
This course has potential but needs up keep.
For the price it show signs of better greens and fairways. For us amateur golfers its’s okay but drop the price a little.
Good course
Played the course for the first time. This after a day of heavy rain. The course was still in good condition. A bit difficult as the fairways are not too wide, didn’t really use my driver, only playing with irons.
Greens need help
Stonebridge has the potential to be amazing. But the greens are absolutely horrible. And they over water everything. It’s super soft. Bunkers were compact. Driving range is minimalist. Chipping green is literally a cup cut in the ground, no green to mention. Putting green is in better shape than the actual greens.
They’re charging way too much for half the greens to be basically unputtable.
Needs more bunkers and someone who can rehab the greens.
Overpriced but nice
Greens and tee boxes could use some work but fairways and layout are exceptional. I think it’s slightly over priced until they fix the greens
