Ron Garl came to Lancaster, Texas in 1989 to build Country View G.C., a truly unique course. No. 7 is the most difficult hole -- a long dogleg right with water in play off the tee and in the fairway. Also, get ready for no. 15, a unique par 3 that features a green completely surrounded by huge trees. Most of Country View's tee boxes are elevated and there is water in on over half of the holes.

Nice course - elevated greens - shorter

Good course to challenge your short game while not being hit hard by excessively long drive requirements.

Not worth the cost

Everyone was nice and cool and it had rained the week before but I could’ve picked 10 courses that were not as expensive but much better than this one, left up signs from old tournaments, no sand at all, not griping but you just see ditches where traps were, my brothers and dad were not too happy I picked that course but I remember it being much better hopefully with the money they are charging they can make it better.

Horrible condition and kayour

This layout is horrible most of it’s taken up by a creek and overrun. It also has a terrible pace of play and don’t know how to stack teetimes to prevent you from sitting there and waiting for 30 minutes at each hole.

Great Course but no cart person

The course is in good condition. The greens rolled true and the fairways were excellent condition. The water coolers on the course didn't have ice in them and it was 97 degrees. I think its criminal in Texas in the summer not to have a cart pperson. My only other complaint is I was told that the kitchen open at 11 a.m. I usually dont eat before getting to the course because I try to spend money with the course. But there wasn't anyone in the kitchen.

Rough conditions

Range was closed, chipping green had grass 1” tall, did not bother with putting green. Course was a muddy mess, tee boxes (white) were marked for mud so we backed up to hit on most of them. Greens were brown mostly with large grain sand, most holes were crowned and would turn a dying putt away. One par four is still detoured around a bridge that has been out for years. Poorly maintained overall, the only surprise was there was no for sale sign.

The only bright spot was the grill has a great cheeseburger and cold beer (but the phone system was out and you could not order ahead, so that added to the slowish pace.

Slow times

4th tee time of the morning and nearly a five hour round. It was cart path only, but still. People in front were hitting multiple balls, like it was practice time. NO rangers! Back nine was a wait on every shot.

Course was okay. Tee boxes weren’t mowed for several days, Greens were fairly good overall. The cups were most likely 4-5 days old.

Hole seven now a 100 yd par 3.. ugh.

Will not return.

Slightly better than a cornfield

Slow play all day by the guys in front of us who somehow paid $14. Much less than we paid. Almost no grass, dry and the greens were crap. We will not be back.

Great value

The course is in pretty good shape. Remodeling the #7 hole but turned into a temp part 3 was fine and felt fine. The issue that keeps this course from a 4-5 star is it is just a personal preference . The greens and course itself were in good shape, but I just am not a fan of elevated greens. The greens are relatively small and pretty firm . Having them elevated adds a degree of difficulty that is not really in line with the player base it directed toward. 9 or 10 greens that are elevated. Some over 15-20ft higher than the fairway so all shots just off the green rolls down sometimes 30yrds down a hill and fairway or water. Greens will usually always be minus ball mark bumps which is good but it's because they are firm. Overall It's a really good course for the value . It is a great course for the casual player to get out there and hit the links but can be frustrating. That is how golf is anyway so come out and slap it around here if you want to have a good conditioned course with friendly service and the restaurant open all the time.

suffering

I have played Countryview for over a decade, and it is currently in the worst shape I have ever seen it. The greens have invasive foreign grass and are spotty(have always had really nice greens). Pace of play was horrible... predominantly held up by inconsiderate golfers who are unaware of etiquette. Last but not least, fairways are struggling. Countryview has always been one of my favorite go to's....hopefully it gets back to shape.
