Waxahachie Golf Club
About
The Waxahachie Golf Club plays to a par 70, 6,156 yards from the tips, and is famous for its blind doglegs and hilly terrain. The design incorporates a good combination of golf holes, both long and short par 4s, and especially the solid par 5s that all play over 500 yards from the tips. The opening hole is one of the easiest–a short par 3 that is one of the better ways to start a round. But the next hole is the number one handicap, a 513-yard par 5.
Getting there : From I-35 south, take the Business 287 exit and turn left. Drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

What a joke
The course was shut down. Bankrupt. Why wouldn’t GolfNow know that? Sure I won’t get my money back.
I didn’t get to play here because they were closed due to owing $1.9 million dollars in rent. I was supposed to play there at 2:10 on Saturday. I would like to get my money back. I also don’t understand how you can’t pay your bills but still show up on golfnow and take peoples money. Do better
Terrible condition
The course is in awful condition but so is the parking lot and the cart paths. Fairways and tees were rock hard.
cheap place to take newbie or just knock ball around
If you are looking for a cheap place to go practice, or take someone just starting out...this is the place! Only about 4 holes where homes might be in play.
Tee boxes where iffy as they usually are, but thanks to recent rains, they were soft. Fairways are pretty much a mix of mostly weeds and some grass. Not a ton of dirt spots.....but that is mainly due to weeds everywhere. (course was green wall to wall, yes, weeds are green ha ha ha ) Yesterday the fairways were long and had not been mowed in what looked like 3-4-5 days. (probably due to rains and small crew.) Greens were looking MUCH better than they have the last 2-3 times I've checked it out. Decent standing of grass and many dirt areas had started to fill in. There were no "temp" greens, as all 18 were back in play! The mowing height is a tad too high and they were SLOW but did roll somewhat smoothly. The guy mowing needs more training......many spots where he lifted reels too late and scalped the collars...MANY places! Several where he either did not get center reel down, or reels are set wrong. Several spots where he missed a line?? But I'm guessing Sat guy with no one watching over him?? You can't leave poorly trained guys on their own for weekend set up.....reflects badly on crew. (there could "possibly" be equipment issues as well, but did not appear that way to me)
So, again.....not a "go to" course but good cheap bargain spot. You will run into those who do not know golf etiquette, families, very new beginners, clowns playing in huge groups.....ha ha. It does look like they are really trying to get it in somewhat decent shape......but it will be a long uphill battle.
Lots of potential
First time playing there and right away I could tell it was an older course. Older big trees and lots of challenging terrain. Some holes had great layouts. Greens and fairways had some disappointing areas but at least I did see some attempts of repairs and maintenance. Groups in front moved way too slow. The couple I got paired up with left after the 14th hole unfortunately. Got a decent price for a last minute Friday tee time.
Good value home course
Course is in good shape especially compared to last year
Won’t be back
The greens are fairway length and the fairways are weeds and dirt. Feels like a course your friend claims he made in his backyard but it’s just short grass
Needs woork
The course has done a lot of work to restore the greens, however there is still much to do on the fairways. The potential for this course to be something special is there but it will take more work and investment by the forces that be. Look forward to see if they continue on an upward trend
Eh
It’s a course… but if it wasn’t close I’d never play here. It’s roughhhhhhh, and they charge the same as much nicer courses in the area, just don’t have competition in Waxahachie or midlothian.
Greens are Looking better!
The work that they have put into the greens are starting to payoff! I love their Course layout! It's challenging but forgiving. I also play there because everyone who works there are the nicest people!
Greens are green but that's it.
Had a 830 tee time. Management let about 20 members take off at their own will from the first tee ahead of us. It was a miserable round. I should have just refunded right then but the kids wanted to play. Ill never go back. To top it off the course is in terrible condition. They have improved the greens by making them green but that's all. Fairways are goat fields.
Waste of money
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this golf course absolutely earned it. From the moment we arrived, it was clear the place was in rough shape—literally. The fairways looked like they hadn’t been watered in weeks, with patches of dirt big enough to lose a ball in. The greens were even worse: uneven, bumpy, and so slow it felt like putting through wet carpet. Staff was nice but you would have to pay me to play at this course again
