Waxahachie Golf Club

About
The Waxahachie Golf Club plays to a par 70, 6,156 yards from the tips, and is famous for its blind doglegs and hilly terrain. The design incorporates a good combination of golf holes, both long and short par 4s, and especially the solid par 5s that all play over 500 yards from the tips. The opening hole is one of the easiest–a short par 3 that is one of the better ways to start a round. But the next hole is the number one handicap, a 513-yard par 5.
Getting there : From I-35 south, take the Business 287 exit and turn left. Drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Poor conditions and poor amenities
If you want sand dunes and tall grass in your greens with concrete for tee box’s then this is the place for you. Spend the extra 10-20 bucks for a actual golf course so you can have a fun experience.
Great course for the price
The course is nice greens are a little rough but great course for the price. Staff is super friendly, overall good course.
Won’t be back
3hrs to play front 9 coarse in very rough shape greens were terrible. Cart girl never made it to the front nine so 3 hrs in heat with only drinks if you bought in club house before the round. No Marshall to maintain speed of play. We said screw it after the front and called it a day went to Buffalo Wild Wings for beer and Golden Tee instead.
WOW un believably CRAPPY!!
I can’t believe people play here. When they can go 10 miles further and play on grass and real greens!! Fairways aren’t mowed 6 or 7 temporary greens that are better than the non temporary greens !
Good luck on finding someone to cook you something….
Stay away from the mosquito pool!!! WOW!!!
IT SUCKS!!!!
6-7 TEMPORARY GREENS!! I lost a sleeve of pv1s IN THE FAIRWAY!! Weeds are sooo hi!!
I thought I lost a wheel ina ditch on 18 under the trees !, it’s NOT WORTH 26$ or the 35$ weekly fee!!
The temporary greens are BETTER than the GREENS they DON’T have temp greens!!!
This place is a joke!!!
I can’t understand why anyone would would play more than once here!!!
The management has NO CLUE AS TO THE CONDITION OF THE COURSE!,
Drive the next 10 miles to lacncater … Country view.
The greens were extremely slow, and poor condition. Fairways were less than average. Pace of play was very slow, no marshals. Tee boxes were also poor to average. Would not play here again.
Okay for what it is.
The course itself is actually a pretty and fun course. It just needs more attention. The Fairways are green but patchy and need more attention. The Greens are okay in places, but patchy and sandy. On at least 5 greens, I moved my ball over so we didn't have to putt through a sandy low spot to get to the hole. They have a lot of temporary greens set up to I assume give the greens a break. That being said, if you can get a hot deal that is fairly inexpensive and you just want to find a course to go have fun on, this fits the bill. I've played it twice, just because it is convenient to me distance wise. But the prices is a bit steep for the condition of the course. I always have fun playing on this course, because the the course is actually a fun course. I hope they put some more effort into maintaining the grass, because it has a lot of potential.
Awful
Driving into the course you'll see that the holes visible from the road have little issues. Then when you get away from the road the rough looks similar to the fairways and the greens look like sand traps. If you consider playing this course be sure to stop by the clubhouse and have 5-6 drinks before heading out to play
Sand Traps on the Greens
This course was harsh. Grass was tough and shaggy. Patches galore. The greens felt like I was putting across 70s shag carpet. Sand was used to patch up what would have been part of the green on about half of the holes.
Group of 4 brought their A-game and made sure to use each tee box like a driving range only to let their 4 yr old 12 putt the greens. No one in front of them.. 4 groups stacked up behind them though.. The Marshall? I'm not sure where they were either. Took about 5 hrs to play 18.
No range. Chipping green was a dirt patch next to the parking lot. Putting green was a brown, patchy, wasteland..
I watched a 2-some of 20 something year olds drive full speed through the blue tee box on 12 and was dragging the tee box marker under the cart for about 60 yards.. its truly the wild west out here in Waxahachie..
Should out to Nick and Steven for making the day enjoyable. (Group of guys I got paired up with)
If you want to take your drinking buddy in a cheap date, I'd recommend here.
Good reason it's cheap
This is the worst course I've played on in my entire life. There's no difference between the fairway and the rough. The greens leave a lot to be desired. I'd rather play on a sand green. Course layout was real nice but it needs some maintenance.
Never again
Never knew sand traps could appear in the green when not planned for? Course conditions are horrendous! This course needs tons of work and should be called a land mine!
Quiet and peaceful
I’m a first time golfer, and this was a great course to get practice on! I definitely plan to come back.
The Reviews don’t Lie
First off, I read the bad reviews on this place, and due to opportunity decided to check it out myself. Yes, this place is terrible, no way around it. The carts have steering boxes that will leave you wondering if you can even operate a motor vehicle afterwards, and suspensions that will leave your body feeling as if you’ve been in a head on collision.
Now to the course. Average ball count lost by 4 fairly decent golfers. 15-17 each. Due to the recent rains, the fairways are at least 12-24 inches tall depending on area. The greens were mostly temporaries set up. Then if you are lucky, the greens crew will come out and change the holes while your group is putting. My group, just busted out laughing all being several beers in at this point. Middle of the day, Tuesday, and the holes are being changed. Unbelievable.
This course has good bones, and lots of seven figure homes lining it. Could be so much more, but sadly, no real care taken to the place.
If you are nice and buzzed, and just hanging out with the guys, it’s a good time, but any scorekeeping or serious golfing should be put out of your mind before you even check in. As long as you know that going in, it’s just a place to work on your tee shots basically. Anything else, prepare to lose 15-20 balls. Simply because you don’t have time to sift through the weeds to find them in the fairway.
Staff was extremely friendly, and the food was good. Hopefully one of these big management companies or investor groups will revamp this place and clean it up. It has potential and a decent layout. For 17 bucks, it’s a good time just to hang out and NOT be serious.
Worse golf course in DFW
This course is trash. No defined fairways, grass not cut and greens are straight trash. I called and asked about course conditions and was told it was in great shape. They lied. Avoid this course, you will not have a good time looking for your ball in the so called fairway. Very disappointed with this trash course.
Pricey Mediocracy
I waited 30 Minutes after my Tee time because of the lack of carts. Waiting in the 75 Degree Pro shop that carried almost nothing besides overpriced used balls. Only practice green they have may be able to handle 5 people & is next to the entry road.
This would be a great course for $25 weekend rounds, but a penny over makes it a waste of time.
