El Dorado at Quail Valley Golf Course
About
Developers eventually had their way with this cow pasture on the fringe of Houston. Loaded with native pecans and oaks and supplemented with even more transplanted trees, the terrain is ideal for golf, with two creeks and five natural lakes on the property. In fact, it's good enough to host the PGA Tour's Houston Open in 1973 and 1974.
The traditional El Dorado Course plays to a par 70 and features five par 3s that go 190-yards-plus from the tips. Jay Riviere designed the back nine.
Jeff Blume managed the redesign and complete renovation of the El Dorado Course in 2009.

Golfer Reviews
Two steps forward , one step back
Played there about two months ago and it was a real treat. Challenging , great shape , great people , great value. Returned with a buddy yesterday and the pace of play for almost 5 hours , greens were slow and the sand traps were washed out garbage and is hasn’t rained in weeks . Trending the wrong way !
Avoid both GolfNow and Quail Valley. We booked a tee time at El Dorado through GolfNow and paid in advance. However, a massive miscommunication between GolfNow and Quail Valley meant our booking overlapped with an ongoing tournament. When we tried to resolve it, the Quail Valley pro shop staff completely ignored us and left us stranded at the first tee box. Both companies failed us—GolfNow does not guarantee your reservation, and Quail Valley has terrible customer service. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.
Nice Course
I would highly recommend this course. Great value!
Very nice experience
My son and I played an afternoon round and were very surprised how nice the facilities and course were. We played the El Dorado course which was in excellent condition in spite of recent heavy rains. We’ll be back very soon to play there.
Great local course
El Dorado is a really tough course especially the back 9 with lots of water hazards. Course was in great shape including the greens.
great course some staff need work
paid to play nobody else was really out there but they were trying to pair me up with some random. Lucky they didnt halfway thru I was about to have a heat stroke and had to drive back to my truck to get some cold water. starter was super unfriendly told me you dont like it you can go play somewhere else. he didnt even look like he ever played golf in his life.
El Dorado
If you are looking for a challenging course with greens that are in great shape, you need to play El Dorado. Pace of play was very good.
