Sienna Plantation Golf Club
About
The Arthur Hills/Mike Dasher-designed Sienna Plantation is a flat, wooded course that has been enhanced to provide elevation changes. The result is a challenging track that rolls between lakes, creeks, and the native hardwoods that dominate the landscape.
In terms of playability, you'll primarily notice the abundance of risk-reward decisions that are required throughout the round on this course, which tips out at 7,151 yards.
Out of the chute you'll be challenged immediately-the opening two holes play as a 427-yard par 4 and a 601-yard par 5. It lightens up a bit on holes 3-4 with a reasonably short par 3 and a short par 4, but holes 5-8 can blow your score up quickly if you're not on your game. No. 6 is a monster 251-yard par 3 sandwiched between two 450-yard par 4s.
On the back it's more of the same, with the nine opening with four 400-yard plus par 4s. Both par 3s are over 200 yards, and the par 5s are each well over 500 yards. The only real birdie opportunity for the average handicapper is the 320-yard No. 16.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 59 south to the Williams Trace exit. Turn left on Williams Trace to Hwy. 6. Turn left and drive 5.5 miles to the Sienna Plantation main entrance. Turn right and follow the signs to the Information Center.

Sienna Plantation
Fairways need a little work and I believe the green on #6 looked like it had just had some repairs. All in all, love playing here. Got to play with my son and they offer a junior rate!
Horrendous
I wouldn’t play here if it was free, the range doesn’t open until 10:30, they didn’t have enough carts, the pace of play is the worst part(my grandpa can walk a faster marathon), the greens have more weeds than a dispensary, the drainage is terrible(literal lakes on the course from the rain), my partner got three more things at the restaurant yet mine was the same price, the hotdog bun was stale, THE ONLY POSITIVE WAS THAT THE STARTER WAS VERY FRIENDLY.
Not worth it
Crab grass invading the greens. Pace of play was insane. Front desk has more attitude than a senior prom queen.
I showed up to check in to my tee time and the front desk man (older white male) had the audacity to tell me “you can’t play bc you’re late,” HOWEVER, he spent 15 min talking with a another customer then when it was my turn to check in he proceeded to answer the phone and have another 3 min conversation. I would’ve made my tee time if you hadn’t spent 15-20min talking to everyone else.
After I pointed out his attitude towards me, he then proceeds to argue with me on how much I am to pay. I pull my receipts and stated “per golf now I am to pay $195 (3 golfers) as I paid the reservation fee through the app.” The man proceeds to argue with me about how he didn’t get his money. SIR, I am NOT golf now. That is something you have to take up with them bc they charged me. This is what’s due. After he completed his tantrum and “did the math” he confirmed my $195 due and proceeded to lecture me again about their “late policy.” As a director of marketing for 8yrs at a golf course, I know that if you REALLY want people to respect your policy it needs to be posted on your website and within the conditions of the booking app, which it is not. Not to mention I WAS ON TIME, you spent 20 min doing everything else but checking me in.
Course review:
Fairways are nice. The greens are invaded with crab grass and whatever’s leaking from the mower. Marshal LOVED to be on our tail reminding us of pace of play even though the group behind us hadn’t even left the green and we already hit our 2nd approach shots. Just bc the hole in front of us is open doesn’t mean we are moving slow. Even offered the people behind to play through, which they declined, and we stayed ahead of them by an entire hole! Yet the Marshall wanted to breath down my neck and rush me!?
Won’t be back. Too many nicer courses in Houston to be dealing with the attitudes and being rushed.
Layout is great but greens need work
Also, the cc machine was not working so I couldnt buy anything from the cart girl.
Sprinklers came on back nine
Tried going to go to the front nine tired of running to different holes quit and left
But they are always good to me
Please consider this a one time issue
I like the manager and people
I know they will take care of me when I talk to them in the future
Play their good people
I visit the Houston once or twice a year and this on one of three courses I play. The staff is was very friendly and helpful. For early Spring, the course was a pretty good shape. Could use a few more directional arrows to get to the next hole in some areas (such as #2, the tunnel was closed due to standing water) and a couple others holes. The greens are coming in fairly well but I think later on there may be a problem with crabgrass and poa annua.
When I return I will definitely play there again.
Overall great!
The only thing I wish we had was a marshal driving around because we had 2 groups in front teaching/practicing every single hole!
That was the only reason pace was slow after the front 9
Value!
I traveled an hour to play Sienna and it was 100% worth. Other courses with way worse conditions are charging similar prices for twilight tee times and I played at 10:15. Pace of play was great but I did play on a weekday after some rain. My only gripe is trying to find some holes but once you’ve been, it’s not as bad. The actual layout of each hole was nice and the conditions were great. I’m not sure how much it rained but the ground was pretty muddy and yet somehow greens were still fast and firm. I will definitely be going back despite the drive, the conditions and value are too good to not go back.
Course is in Pretty Good Shape
Sienna has been up and down in the past. Some of the tee boxes could use a little work, but overall they were in good shape. The greens and fairways were in pretty good shape. It is a little overpriced. You can pay a better/nicer course for a similar price. But overall good shape, good value if you’re in the neighborhood and don’t want to travel.
Great value with GolfNow
Course was in great shape for February play date. Greens were especially good. Nice layout for a challenging but fair round
Anything Goes
If you pay then just about anything goes. Here are my examples:
*no marshall
*twosome in front of us never raked a trap and at once point actually drove their cart across the green.
*greenskeeper actually turned the sprinklers on around the green as i hit my approach shot.
*at once point a groundskeeper on a fairway mower made me stop on the cart path leading to the next tee box in order for him to pass. My thinking is he should have stopped to let the paying customer go first.
*course and carts are overall in very poor condition.
