Canyons Golf Course

If you've never played here go check it out just for the views. This is by far the most bizarre course I have ever played. No clubhouse for one. You check in at the Summit hotel, take an elevator out side where a guy in a cart drive you down a dirt path to the first tee and starter. No range juts a net. The you proceed to drive up and down and all around like a mountain goat hitting to fairways hundreds of feet below the tee boxes. Many blind shots abound. If you miss the fairway your gone, no chance to find a ball. Course was in really good shape, fast undulating greens as well. One and done course. If this is still open a year from now, I will be shocked.

Canyon courses are target golf which can be very frustrating. I DID NOT find that here. Fairways and green approaches are generous and the course is very friendly to play.

Only improvement would be assistance getting clubs from hotel valet to the golf carts. As a mid seventies aged golfer my days of carrying two sets of clubs to the elevators and then out to the carts have long since past.

If you like teeing off from elevated tee boxes this is the course for you assuming you can hit the ball straight. This is a mountain course so there are plenty of them here. The greens can be very challenging but don’t get upset. Just take in the beauty of the area

This is a very interesting course. Lots of elevated tees, beautiful views, narrow fairways and a couple with blind spots. I would highly recommend just bring plenty of extra balls! Only negative is it’s kind of hard to find. You drop off at the hotel, they do valet your car but we had to carry our clubs up 2 flights of stairs (elevator broken). Had a Great experience would definitely recommend, just a little different when you first arrive.

Booked 2 players on a hot deal for Monday late afternoon. Course is fun but I recommend playing the right tees for your skill level. Look at the slope rating, not the yardage. Typical mountain target golf, but still very playable as many times you can get away with less than perfect shots. Course condition was very good. Pace was a little slow. Our 4some finished in 4:30 and waited on most tee boxes. I didn't realize you needed to valet your car at the resort, then walk through the lobby to get to the pro shop.

Go in knowing that the front 9 is going to be silly, video game golf and just enjoy the views. I did & I enjoyed it.

The back 9 is considerably easier.

This was a true mountain course. Insane views and elevated greens looked like you were landing the ball on the peak of the mountain. Well worth a round.

313 yrd par 5 due to elevation explains why we feel it is a novelty course. If you are more into the views and something unique, this course might be for you. More of a typical/traditional golfer that is a bit more serious? Not worth trying as there are many blind shots, where luck will play a large role in your score. Bring your golf balls…or your “A” game and hope for some luck.

The pro shop personnel along with the starter were very friendly. The course was very hard and the greens were even harder…seems to the average golfer…it would have one or the other..hard fairways or tuff greens but not both…

Challenging but fair course if you have some control of the ball. You’ll lose some golf balls but the course is so pure. Really great views.

While traveling I like to use golf advisor for information for courses in the areas that I’m traveling too. Unfortunately the reviews were not up to date. We were staying pretty close to this course, so seeing a few holes when driving by I was excited to play the course. I will start by saying the course is very quirky. It’s lay-out has seven par 3’s, six par 4’s and five par 5’s which was fine, but some of the holes had blind spots and it is basically wrapped around a mountain. The greens are very unfair. Way to many undulations. It would be so much better if the greens were falter. I had asked on several holes, where are the clowns mouths. The course is in good shape and many beautiful views. Only complaint were the greens were beat up, but it is a resort course and so many people don’t repair there divots

This course is a lot of fun and I'd recommend it to just about anybody. For an intermediate golfer like myself, it was difficult and I lost a handful of balls. The positives are a really well-maintained course with maybe the most unique course layout I've seen. Nearly every hole has a gorgeous view either from the mountains down to the valley or with the mountains as a backdrop. I think the designer did a good job considering the course was likely an afterthought...it's sandwiched between chair lifts and luxury condominium communities. The negatives are its unique layout also means it's pretty awkward. The turn from 9 to 10 occurs at just about the farthest point from the "clubhouse." Parentheses because there's no actual clubhouse. There's a pro shop sandwiched between retail shops of the ski resort where you can pick up some things and pay for your round. My least favorite part of the course is the lack of a driving range. They set up two adjacent pads hitting into nets so you can warm up but that's all you're doing is warming up because you can't see how you're hitting them. Also, don't wash your car beforehand because the parking lot and road leading up are dirt and dusty.
