Stinky
The course is terribly maintained, hole 15 didn’t even have a green, and it smells like poop.
Thank you so much for the great review. Hope to see you on the course soon

Cottonwood Fluff Everywhere!
The fluff from surrounding cottonwood trees covered every inch of this course. It is impossible to keep it out of your eyes and off your clothes and clubs. It’s also very hard to find your ball when the whole course is essentially a white sheet of cotton. The course was pretty empty, making for a very quick round, but the quality of the course is very poor.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We are working hard at getting conditions back up to par. Cant do much about the cottonwood but in a week or two that will be a non-issue. Give us another try in a few weeks and I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Just not worth the money
I’ve played at the course twice now. The first time was early in the season so I thought the conditions were just due to the lack of preparation and it just being very early in the season coming back to the course it is not worth $51 around when the fairways aren’t cut. There is no difference between the rough and the fairway. The grass is super long and super hard to hit out of. Also, the green are horrendous. Patches of grass missing in them holes and uneven dirt would not recommend for the price.
We are currently working hard at getting the greens back in shape. We also have some equipment on-site now that will cutt the rough and fairways at different heights. Give us another shot in a few weeks and I think your experience will be significantly different.
Thanks for the great review.
Cottonwood Haven
The staff here is so friendly. From the Pro Shop staff to the workers on the course. Everyone said hello and made me feel welcome and safe. It's been a while since I played this course. So, it was great going back and playing this course once again for the first time and over 5 years. Some things have changed on the course. But it's still Burnham Woods a local inexpensive Park Forest golf course. Great for the community a real local gem. "A great beginners course". I would not recommend it for the "Avid golfer".
Appreciate the kind words about the staff. This time of year the cottonwood hurts us a bit, but that will clear and wont be an issue. Please reach out at info.burnhamwoods@forestpreservegolf.com to talk about what we can do to increase the golfer experience.
It’s a course the county chooses not to maintain. Half the greens were unplayable. One had the flag stuck in the fringe like a spear. Staff is very friendly. It’s a course to get your practice in.
Couldn't be farther from the truth. We are currently working hard at getting the conditions back to where they need to be. I think you will see a real difference in the next few weeks.
Terrible course
Awful pace of play, poorly ran, awful conditions. This course is run like the local DMV feels like pulling teeth. The pace of play was horrid they gladly let a 6 some play with no enforcement with a round taking 6 hours to complete. The pro shop doesn’t know how to operate they let lines build up and take 20 minutes to get you checked in and to microwave a hot dog. The greens are like playing on the Sahara desert with the rest of the course being all rough. You should be paid to play this course it’s that bad.
Please reach out to talk a bit more about your experience. info.burnhamwoods@forestpreservegolf.com. This is not the way we operate and want to dive into your experience.
Fine for a quick 18
I’ve always gone to Burnham Woods when I wanted to get in a round of 18 holes in less than 2.5 hours. I’ve played there three times in the past three years, including yesterday.
That said, fairways are not, what you’d call, manicured. Lots of bare parches or grass clumps. Greens are in bad shape. Many have big spots of bare dirt.
There were at least a half dozen lawnmowers going over the course when I played so they were working on it, but, it’ll take more than grass-cutting to fix problems here.
Friendly staff, including the grounds crew.
We appreciate your review. We are working hard at turning everything around. Greens are getting much needed attention. Fairways and rough are as well. Check us out in a couple weeks and I think you will be very pleased with the turnaround.
Uncooperative staff
Staff demonstrated no common sense nor judgment to reschedule around for two players. Instead I paid for the rounds that we didn't play. Plus, I am Forest Preserve member.
The green
Three of the green they don’t meet the standard the grass missing around and in middle make it hard for ball to roll smoothly
Skip this Course
It's been a while since | played here, really wanted to like it for the nostalgia. This was the first place I played with my grandfather.
I understand it's early in the season, but this place needs a lot of help and it's not anywhere worth the price, and add $18 each for a cart, that’s ridiculous! So many better places for the same price. Do better Forest Preserves
Great lay out, not well kept
You lose so many balls here 1) because there are a few narrow tees and anything not straight gets lost in the woods. Thats not a huge deal it makes for a challenging course. but 2) the fairway is barely a fairway, its as long as the rough and you lose balls that you hit well! that's SUPER annoying when you can't find a well hit ball either! The greens have more than a few rough spots but for $40 you get what you pay for.
Not so great
This course used to be nice years ago. Lack of maintenance is an understatement. Not sure if it’s funding from state or what but for almost $50 normal greens fees I’d say no. But I got a deal on the app and it’s close to my fathers house.
DO NOT PLAY
There is basically no fairway height cut. No distinction between fairway and rough. There is not much bent grass at all in the "fairways" and tee boxes. Mostly weeds. There are many severely damaged greens. There are multiple tee boxes which have tree branches encroaching to where you are hitting them on your backswing. I would only play again if the cost was under $8.
The only charm is the staff was decent and there was a flock of wild turkeys wandering around.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. I would like to hear a bit more about your visit. Please send me an email at info.burnhamwoods@forestpreservegolf.com. We have been dealing with a tin of rain lately and has made it difficult to stay in front of the cutting. Dry conditions are ahead of us so this should help,
