Terrible
Conditions are terrible. Don’t waste your time or money. I wasn’t expecting Augusta but cmon, I wasn’t expecting a wasteland either. The head ground keeper should be fired immediately and that’s if they have one. At the turn the starter asked us how was the course? We looked confused and asked him has he been out there. It’s just grass & dirt, actually more dirt than grass. Several fairways were bare. There’s no way this place could be brought up to speed anytime soon. This course was beautiful years ago. What happened River Oaks??? Won’t be back
Lester and the Team
The River Oaks staff led by Lester and others are the absolute best.
Tough year with little Calumet and the rain but they have the course in great shape!
Terrible condition right now.
First, I would like to say River Oaks has a wonderful course layout that I have played too many times to count. Chicago/ Chicagoland has experienced an incredible amount of rain over the past 2 weeks prior. From the excessive downpour, River Oaks had previously been underwater and is now almost in ruins. There are A LOT of barren areas (without grass), leaving just wet and dried mud. The sand traps are just crackled mud pieces that are hard as rocks. Unfortunately, there are golf cart tire tracks throughout the course and deep animal foot prints near greens with creeks and forest areas close by. The wildlife was out probably grabbing the trapped fish by the greens when underwater. I hope they get it together soon. Nicole the pro shop manager is amazing and so is her staff.
Unplayable
Was told 3 holes were unplayable because of water. It was actually 4 holes that were completely unplayable. High standing water on almost every hole. All this and was charged full price. Course should be shut down till water drains. Should have been told exactly what the course conditions were. It’s ashamed because I usually enjoy this course. Won’t be coming back here any time soon! Feeling ripped off!!!!
Obviously weather has been a struggle lately and we always do our best to keep the course open for everyone's enjoyment. We were upfront about conditions and offered every player to reschedule. Front 9 can play tough
Don't judge this course by the scorecard alone. It is short by yardage, but has a lot of hazards. The lady at the desk when I checked-in was very friendly and course conditions were great, except for some of the traps, that were gravel. This course has done quite a bit in recent years to improve itself and should be congratulated for it.
We appreciate all the kind words and we will continue to do all we can to improve conditions and guest experience. Hope to see you on the course again soon.

Great for rhe price
Friendly staff nice layout of the course. You can grip it and rip it. Greens are great for park course. Overall fun course great staff

Course is in great shape. Has improved every year for the past few year. Management and staff doing a great job. Greens rolling great to.
