Midlane, Memorial weekend
The course was difficult. It's been maintained. New carts, this year. There should be a ramp to the club house entrance. Driving carts to your car should be better. The curb ramp should be removed. At $69 for 18 with cart, it's higher than other courses in the area that also have electronics.
The restaurant is poor. At noon there should be a menu for food. 2 hot dogs and 2 cans of beer for $21 is expensive.
Gem in the northwest
It is in fantastic condition. I would ply it again. Greens in excellent shape. It is a tight hard course. Nice grass in fairways. Some rough areas were bare, but very few compared to the whole course.
1 hole not playable. Frustrating. Person who checked us in says under new ownership bar and restaurant shut down opening soon.
our round
as a group we liked the layout of the course. the owners need to maintain this place better! cart paths are in terrible shape, no fairway yardage markers we could find! dont play here without a range finder! challenging, fun course to play
Nice course with some challenging holes
Not a course you want to walk as some holes are seperated a distance apart
my opinion
great layout, water on just about every hole! no easy way to spot the few markers we found indicating yardages to greens. course was in good shape but needs better maintenance protocols. if you dont have a range finder its tough to gauge distances. for $70 per person i expect more. food and drinks in clubhouse are way overpriced! $12 for a hotdog and $8 for a beer? outrageous.
Great value for the price
Nice conditions, great bar and facilities, pace of play was right around 4.5 hours.
Questionable conditions
There are some decent holes on this course but the conditioning has become crap and the pace of play on a Saturday afternoon was atrocious.
Great Spot
Good golf course
Great price
Great staff
Theres not a better bang for your buck with a quality course
Beautiful Course with Some Flaws
In terms of course design and views, I highly recommend this course. Ponds, Lilly pads, wildflowers, wooden bridges, cornfields, trees in abundance. Challenging - right turns and (multiple) water hazards on most of the holes. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Stay on the short grass - roughs we’re very thick.
My only critique with the course are the sand traps. They need a groundskeeper to rake and soften (new sand?) the traps on a daily basis. They were hard as dirt (literally) in most places.
Beer selection could use some IPAs (really - none?).
Cost was affordable for later afternoon summer tee times. Pace of play was a little slow on the back 9. Could’ve used a ranger to get the foursome in front of us to speed it up a bit. For the few flaws - it was worth it.
Midlane Golf Course, Wadsworth, IL
The greens were in relatively good shape, but the rest of the course needs some work. The fairways were hard and areas adjacent to the fairways in many places were ground under- repair. It was difficult getting a divot on iron shots in the fairways. Sand traps were very hard and need to be raked to loosen the sand. Overall, this course gets a 3/5 rating.
