Faulkwood Shores Golf Course

We will not be playing here again. I had played twice a couple years ago, so when the new clubhouse was finished, we thought let's try it out. So, unimpressed with the course conditions. The tee boxes were in terrible shape, finding level ground that has grass to even put the tee in was nearly impossible. There are plenty of courses in the Livingston County area that are better in my opinion.

I play here often and the improvements relative to new club house, parking lot, cart-paths(still a long way to go), are fantastic!

The fairways and greens are in good shape, actually the greens are in excellent shape.

All of The tee boxes need to be updated, repaired, etc… I am sure it’s in the plan.

The course is challenging for high handicappers, and with undulating greens and depending on pin placements 3 putting is a worry.

Of course the value is excellent if you can play during week and a senior.

Based on what I see as a major commitment to improving the course and facilities i am sure they have a long term plan for continuous improvement, NF the beginning of the Renaissance.

Old fashion course that has improved the course conditions. Greens , fairways and tee areas have been improved! The course has improved and they also added a nice addition to the club house and Pro Shop.

Conditions have improved significantly. Greens roll true. Tee boxes on hole 2 and 4 are always going to be a challenge to grow grass, given the limited light. Maintenance does a solid job. Very few dry spots on the course, fairways are cut short.

Layout is long with trees that will eat your ball if you aren't straight. Biggest complaint are some greens that are just unfair. Holes 12, 16, and 17 have gigantic slopes where balls will not stay on the green. I get that it adds to the challenge to the course, but it shouldn't be impossible to keep your ball on the green when you hit a putt.

There are good people who work at the course, but their bosses at Singh are absolutely going to try and recoup some of the costs to upgrade their clubhouse, carts, and parking lot with increased greens fees this year. Memberships were not offered this year. Cart paths will still need work.

But fairways and tees are beat up and its always wet. Doesn't matter. This is all of a 136 slope so people who like a challenge will deal.

Good course for the money. Will play again. Can’t wait to see new clubhouse being constructed.

Greens smooth and not to fast fairways perfect will play again

You want to play the slowest round of golf in your life?? Well even with 10 minute tee times apart from one another. You’ll play behind the rudest and most belligerent people you’ve met. Bad cart paths and worse cup placements and did I mention the worst cart paths in MI…. This is your place!!! 4 star my butt 🤣🤣🤣🤣 this place is a joke and a half. Scratch what I said before. It’s full of lazy, pitiful, and dumb out here. Perfect for the guy who has never golfed

The course could be so mice better if they filled the divots on tee boxes, didn’t have so much cart path in play, and biggest thing A CUP CHANGER WHO ISNT LAZY/HUNGOVER. I many cups 2-3.5 paces from the fringe. I work at a CC I change cups everyday. It’s pitiful what they do here. Not a single cup placement in the center of the green. Other than that, this place has a lot of hope. Good range, new club house being built. And good supply of Toro mowers!!! Best of luck but be careful this course I a 3/5 at best

Faulkwood shores has perfect tees for seniors and fairways and greens are in great condition. The tee boxes could use some improvement. The staff was very nice- looking forward to going back when the new clubhouse is finished

The reviews do Faulkwood Shores justice. It's an absolute beauty in its own way. Is the course in the best condition? No. Are you going to find a dozen range balls around the 11th green? Possibly. Will you 3-putt the 3rd green? Absolutely.

I think the most fitting description of Faulkwood Shores is to call it a time capsule. This is what golf used to be 20 years ago before the YouTube/COVID boom, which brought a very particular crowd into golf that many of us lifelong golfers try to avoid. The clubhouse caught fire, so they're operating out of a temporary trailer. The golf carts don't have Bluetooth speakers installed (which is a HUGE plus for someone who is trying to avoid the Bluetooth crowd). It's affordable, challenging, and plays fast. I paid $30 for 18 holes with a cart on a weekday. My first round at Faulkwood was over 30 minutes faster than my rounds at nearby courses.

As long as they keep this business model, they will continue to get my business and that of many other golfers.

There's no drink cart. The carts are old, held together by duct tape, and the alignment is off. The cart paths are bumpy. A couple of the tee boxes are mostly dirt.

Who cares?

By a wide margin, the most important thing to me is pace of play. Everyone else in the county is on 7-8 minute tee time intervals. Faulkwood keeps theirs at 10. Your round will be 20-30% faster here. I went mid-week mid-day as a two-some and waited only on a couple holes. Done in just over 3 hours.

People scared me off from playing this course, giving horror stories about the conditions. Yes, there was ONE tee box where I had a hard time finding grass. But the greens were great, the rough wasn't too long, the fairways were exactly what you would expect. The course was long which made it fun since you get to hit driver on just about every Par 4 instead of laying up.

A few interesting holes. #7 is a tough green to hit - a bunker spans the front of the green and everything over the green will roll OB. A few doglegs, several greens have water in front of them, just about every green has sand in front.

This is exactly the kind of course that got me into golf and in the post-COVID area of packed courses trying to squeeze every penny out of you it was a breath of fresh air to find a course whose focus was on enjoyable golf instead of packing as many people on as possible.
