Myth Golf & Banquet - Regulation Course
About
The Myth Golf & Banquet, formerly known as Beaver Creek, tumbles across rolling hills. Situated next to Lake Orion, the golf course sits on protected land that is home to an abundance of wildlife, including sandhill cranes. There is both an 18-hole championship course and a nine-hole par-3 course. In 2007, when the Myth was established, several improvements were made to the championship layout, improving its conditions and making it more challenging. The scenic golf course features boardwalk cart paths that cut through beautiful pine forests. Don't get too distracted by the scenery though because there is plenty to keep you busy including multi-tiered greens and water hazards on almost every hole. The 13th is the golf course's signature hole. This par 3 plays from an elevated tee over water to a generous green, offering a great opportunity for a birdie.

Hole 13, fun par 3 Photo submitted by Tait2dn on 05/09/2013
Greatest place ever...
Love this place...the layout..the staff... first class...Gem!!!
Very slow pace of play
Nice course and cool layout, but they heavily over book. They allowed a 6 sum that only came with 2 sets of clubs to tee off in front of us even though 2 of them shared the same tee time we booked. Every time I play here it is a 5 to 6 hour round. Not worth it imo
Good but so slow
The course was very good layout wise, the front 9 was very beautiful, the back nine didn’t seem to be as well kept. The pace of play was horrible, the 4 man group in front of us was taking their sweet old time and took a breakfast ball like every hole. When asked if we could play through since we were a two some they said “h*llno we ain’t waiting for you two” the proceeded to snap hook his drive into the trees. 18 holes took us 6 hours and 12 minutes. We tried speaking to the ranger when we saw him but he drove off talked to them but nothing happened.
Tight, forest design not for me
Basically no rough on this course, just narrow fairways carved out of very dense woods. Every shot not on fairway is a lost ball. Greens are severely sloped and very challenging. Interesting wood cart paths through forest. Nice scenery and sculpted landscape, but very tough to score well, and lost balls make it very frustrating. With all the other choices in the area, we won't be back.
Great value
The course is challenging and will make you pull different clubs besides your driver on some holes. We had a wedding cheering us on at 13 which added and extra star in the review. Worth every penny we will be back soon
If you’re ok with a 6 hour round, check it out
Really like this track, but be warned that you will be waiting 15-20 minutes at each tee box. We averaged just short of an hour per three holes. Made the turn at 3 hrs 10 minutes. Finished at 6 hours.
Poorly maintained.
Uneven tee boxes, swampy fairways, gimmicky holes, and bumpy greens. Starter was 20 minutes behind for our tee time.
We understand that the pace of play may be delayed on a sunny Sunday afternoon in May however, there is not excuse for teeing off 40 minutes after our tee time. Especially when we were ready waiting near the box 20 minutes before our tee time. In conversations with others standing around, we determined that there were 6 people with the same tee time as us. We had fun playing this course but seems like there is some disorganization with booking
The Myth
Drove down to the myth for a hot deal. The day was a little rainy, so the course was empty and I just played at the pace I wanted to. Of course it’s not always going to be that way but that’s not what I’m reviewing. It’s not a long course so you’ll have to keep your driver in your bag for a lot of the round. The greens will challenge you for sure. They did some work since last year and rebuilding some of the pathways through the trees that used to make it sound like there was a gun range nearby. I like this course and will be back.
