Poor management
We had such a weird experience playing the west course. Started out well enough with friendly staff INSIDE the clubhouse. Checking in was quick, easy and they were very friendly. It changed once we got outside. The starter was unfriendly. He asked what course we were playing and when we told him the west course, his response was just “get in line” and pointed to a massive lineup of carts. So, we got in line and waited. Another starter came over, this one a little more friendly, and we inquired about the crazy line and were told that an outing was booked, so they combined the tee times from the other course with ours to accommodate the outing. That is simply poor management. Five minutes out from our tee time and we still had seven full carts ahead of us. Needless to say, we spent about as much time waiting as we did playing. Regularly there were three different groups at one tee box simultaneously. It took three of us five and an half hours to get through 18 holes, and that is without a break at the turn. Unreal. Another big complaint is the course layout. Being our first time playing it, we had no idea that there is no opportunity to get refreshments or food at the turn since there is no proper turn, as hole 9 goes right into hole 10 at the exact opposite corner of the property. Sure, we did see a refreshment cart throughout the round, but a hot dog would have been great. That said, the course was in nice condition. The carts were good and clean. Would we play here again? Sure, during off hours and not for full price. I don’t usually write lengthy reviews like this, but had to for this one.
Maple Lane GC at it’s worst
Booked for West course, got put on North course. They don’t seem to honor tee times. The starters just insert people where it’s convenient to get people out wherever possible. No control on slow play. Followed a group that took 15 minutes on pretty much every hole (this is the type of crowd you’ll get at Maple). If you want to hack this is the course, otherwise don’t understand why anyone would waste their money there. Greens are like carpets, Tee boxes look like herds came through. Fairways? We won’t go there (to be nice). Never again.
Overall Good
First time playing Maple Lane. Course is great for me because it's halfway between my son and I. We played the west course. Course layout is good and condition is average to the area. We enjoyed playing and will definitely return. The only downside is the starter was an *@s. Again, our first time playing so unsure of the layout of the three courses. Asked at check in and we were pointed towards where the first tee was but were told to check with the starter. Get loaded in the cart and approach the starter, inform him or our tee time and which course, his response is "so". I say just checking in to see if we're good to go. His response "why wouldn't you go?" Next time, ill just tee off on my own.
Fun course, a bit on the short side, but they make up for it with narrow fairways and dog legs. Pace of play was a little slow. But we had a good time.
Never Again
Horrible pace of place with not a ranger in sight (except the starter) because there would be nothing they could do. Really. Reason: Management is responsible for the TT spacing. They clearly are ALL about the money and do not care about the experience of the patrons OR the course for that matter. Grass seed? Fertilizer? A little water? A little TLC for the tee boxes, greens, and bunkers? Sadly No…
Came to the course by an invitation from a friend who hadn’t played there in several years. Well I can guarantee that WE will not be returning. You can play much better courses with standards for pace of play for just a few dollars more. Trust me…
Maple West
Course was in good conditon. The fairways could use some work. They have many uneven areas.
The greens are in great shape.
Slow Play
I played last Sunday and it took 5.5 hours. I know it gets crowded so I gave it another chance this week. It took 5 hours. The course was in good shape and they had rangers on the course but the problem was they send foursomes out so close to each other, that there will always be a traffic jam. They need to stretch out the tee times and that would help
Good morning round kinda expensive
The tee boxes could use a lot of work on the West Course also the pace of play is kind of da slow unless you’re one of the first groups out. I have walked a round with my brother and it’s taken 3 hours, and we have had rounds that have taken 6 hours.
