Golf now is a rip off
Booked for 4 guys on golf now and had to pay $19.25 PER person just to make the tee time. Then on top of that we all 4 had to pay $66 at the course to play. That is such a scam and I’ll never use golf now again and either will my buddies because $20 just to book a tee time is outrageous. Also the food truck outside served a cold, chewy, dry brisket sandwich which I threw away after 1 bite.
New Ownership & Business Model, Course is Crowded
First time playing the Golf Club of Wentzville this year, under new ownership. The same ownership of the Missouri Bluffs & Links of Dardenne. The first thing you notice is a new trailer/kitchen by the pavilion. The smell of the BBQ is wonderful. Next you see the clubhouse has been updated and expanded. In the middle of the clubhouse is a bar and the back end has been expanded with a large seating area with views of the putting green and hole 1 tee box. They have new carts too.
We paid $82 for a weekend greens fees. This includes a free lunch and a beer. You will have to decide if you think that price is worth it. You have to go outside to the trailer/kitchen to order your food. They have a nice one-page menu. Then you wait 10-15 minutes and then get your food and head inside to get your beer/drink. We thought the food was excellent. This free food with your greens fees is really bringing in the people. When we left, the parking lot was nearly full. At 2:30pm, players were lined up to play golf. You also get free peanuts/pretzels from the beverage cart.
The conditioning of the course was good. The course does not drain well and after ½ of rain overnight, the course had many areas of standing water. Always love to play here, a fun course to play.
My only complaint was the starter said they have been double booking on him. We teed off 10 minutes after our scheduled time. If they are doing this, that is a problem. Pace of play was awful. Waited 5-10 minutes on every shot.
Private course money for an average public course
I used to play here all the time; them new ownership came in and raised the prices well beyond what this course is worth.
On top of that they changed to 8 minute tee times, which is just stupidity.
You used to have to book a few days in advance for this a tee time at this course and the other nearby course they recently bought (links at dardenne- whic they raised the rates here well beyond the worth) and now with the astronomical prices they get very little business; which I hope shows them what greed gets you.
The course itself was a local favorite of mine, but I won’t be back unless they drop to fair rates
Overpriced
Used to play this course all the time but the new owners are price gauging with a fun course
Overpriced course
It’s not a bad course but they made a huge mistake by making their prices go from 70$ to 95$ mean this course should be 40-60$ tops they probably are gonna lose a lot of business because nobody’s gonna pay those price… very bad Of you guys and you need advice lower your prices or go to private course and fire the person who thought it was a good idea to raise prices bad idea
Disgusting Greed
I thought when they raised the price to 70 dollars they were crazy but oh no. Now we are up to 95 dollars for course that barely tops 6000 yards tipped out. The owner is a pompous professional profiteer trying badly to pump revenue so he can dump his management company to PE. Don’t play here.
Become private course
This place and the links should just become a private club at this point. Used to play these courses all the time and now they've become unaffordable and the times that are affordable all the "Membership" guests book all the affordable times leaving nothing left to book or a not going to finish cuz if it being overbooked in the afternoon. Like i said i don't even look to play here or the links now. They should just become private.
Another average public course with new crazy rates
Shocked to see a rate hike to $93 for an average feel good about your game course....won't be back
EXTREMELY overpriced
I moved to the area a year and a half ago and I was advised by many people to try it out; so I did. The course was in great shape and it’s a really great layout; one of my favorites in the area………then it was bought out and they’ve ruined the course.
Although the conditions are still good, they first moved the tee times from 11 min intervals to 8, so that killed the pace of play. Then they raised the prices up almost double what they were!!
Like I said, it’s a nice course but nowhere at all near worth $80 dollars on a week day and $95 on a weekend.
ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS
Everyone I know has stopped playing here (and Links st Dardenne - bought by the same organization and hiked the prices up there too) because of this.
Greed has once again destroyed something enjoyable
Beautiful
Amazing course great tees great greens and fairways we
It’s getting better!
They just got brand new golf carts which are very nice. Love playing here. Course needs a little love but it’s the heat of the summer so understandable. Pace of play needs the biggest revamp. Slow slow slow.
My Wife and I played and we enjoyed the course. Slow golfers 2 4some in front of us. At east 1 hole behind the group in front of them. Still finished in 4 hours and 10 minutes
8min tee times - Greedy
The pace of play is awful on busy days due to Management's decision to reduce tee times to every 8 mins. Layout is boring with only 1 or 2 bunkers that come into play and 1 pond in play. Greens are slow.
Golflation
Wentzville is a fun and well maintained course. Is the worth the 65-70$ weekend rate? Not a chance. They space tee times 8 minutes apart so be ready for 5+ hour round minimum. Staff is fine , pro shop is nonexistent. Putting/chipping area is nice and maintained. They are in the middle of an upgrade for the clubhouse and a food truck has been placed on location . I have hope these changes will bring the club closer in value to what they are charging.
Expensive and slow
The most expensive round of golf I've played this summer and the slowest round. This course is fun to play but not when you have to sit so much between holes. Also it wasn't in as good of shape as several of the other nearby courses. The greens were rough and the tee boxes hard as a rock. There are too many other better options so we probably won't be back this summer.
