Improved but needs work

Played as a twosome Lake and Quarry course. Tee time was 1:30 PM. We began behind a foursome two men two women we observed for approximately 15 minutes on the first T as the men attempted to give the ladies a lesson there were numerous swing and Misses before contact was finally made after about 20 minutes. One of the gentlemen motioned us to play through. We accepted gratefully. We never saw them again. We proceeded to finish our round in approximately 4 1/2 hours, not bad considering. The course conditions were good considering the time of year. I have played the Lake course many times where the ground ate your shoes as you sunk into the sunk into the mud. This year, the fairways were consistently hard and the ball actually ran a bit the greens, where what I considered slow but true if you happen to go in a trap, he prepared not to see any sand. Overall, the course could use an influx of cash. The cart path are horrendous. I wouldn’t play if I had hemorrhoids. The tee areas are generally fairly beaten up and need to be rotated especially on the par threes. Despite the foregoing complaints I would still say it’s a playable golf course with a very good layout.

Need to fluff up the bunkers.

Hitting out of the bunker was very challenging. They were like dirt not sand. Lost a few strokes because the bunkers were not sand.

Overall Rate

Tee boxes definitely need work. The fairways were soft and bit on the hairy side. If you hit fairway it’ll roll maybe 1-10 yards or not at all. If you hit rough good luck finding your ball(not every hole). You’ll definitely run over a golf ball or find some if you’re right above it otherwise taking a stroke and drop is highly recommended. Greens were above average I’d say the stimp was about 8-9 but I felt it was a bit on the slower side(my dad and I are use to playing 10 and above) but that could be due to playing in the early morning. Pace of play was great finished in 3hrs and 10min. However, if you’re not hitting the first to fifth tee time you’ll most likely have a five hour round. Overall I’d rate the course currently 4 Star, great track.

PS. If you slice or hook often please do not play here otherwise go up to the very front tee box.

Nice course

Nice layout, the tee boxes could use a little attention there were a lot of bare spots and uneven footing. I thought the fairways could be mowed a little shorter. Not a lot of run out. However the greens were amazing.

Outstanding Day at Great Gorge Golf Club!

Outstanding Day at Great Gorge Golf Club!

Played a full round on Sunday, April 12, 2026, and I couldn't be more impressed. The course was in fantastic shape — fairways lush, greens rolling true and quick, and the views across the Vernon Valley were absolutely stunning as always.

The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly from the moment I pulled up. Check-in was smooth, and everyone I interacted with went out of their way to make the day enjoyable.

After the round, we headed over to Hef's Hut and it was outstanding! The food was delicious, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere with those beautiful mountain views made it the perfect way to cap off a great day of golf.

Highly recommend Great Gorge Golf & Country Club — whether you're a local or just visiting, this place delivers. Will definitely be back soon!
