Town Of Wallkill Golf Club

I played here for the first time this weekend. I would say if you live within an hour of this course try it.

Our senior group has played there all summer! We play on Tuesday and Thursdays! We really took advantage of the $35 before 8:00 as we always play early anyway! The people checking us in are always friendly and welcoming! The starters very good at their job and the course always in prime condition! Keep the green fees reasonable and we will continue to play, we are all retired so money is a factor!

The layout is great The tee boxes are usually in very good shape. My biggest problem are the greens. They are as hard as a rock the condition of the grass and everything is good. The rough is very thick and the greens are as hard as a rock. It’s very hard to chip. Last year the greens weren’t like this since April. I’m not sure what happened, but it’s very difficult. Your ball just goes flying off it.

This course is a great public course. It looks like a very straightforward course but it has some tight fairways and challenging holes. It is a great course to test your ability. I have had some great rounds and have also had some challenging days at the course

Course was in good shape, pace of play was good for fall conditions. Greens were partially covered with downed leaves, expected for the season.

Restaurant could have used an additional person, food was good and reasonably priced, the addition of a server would have sped the process up. Bartender was doing double duty.

We booked a morning tee time through TeeOff and arrived early. There was no bartender, coffee, or breakfast available. When I asked the front desk employee about it, he gave what felt like a sarcastic smile and said the staff wouldn’t arrive until the afternoon. The lack of service was frustrating, but his attitude made it worse.

We came back around 11 a.m. hoping to get lunch and still couldn’t find anyone to help. His explanation was, “We’re short-staffed; the students are back at school.” I understand staffing problems, but he showed no interest in helping us find a solution. We checked the dining area, found nobody, and returned to the desk without getting any help.

The starter deserves credit. As we were leaving to eat in town, he stepped in, called someone, and had a person there to help us within five minutes. He was friendly, understanding, and showed that he cared about our experience.

We also booked for four players, and when one couldn’t make it, we were still charged for all four, which added to the disappointment.

If outside food and drinks aren’t allowed, the club should make sure refreshments are available or clearly explain the limited hours before people book.

I hadn’t played here in three months, and this visit gave me little reason to return soon. For me, the course doesn’t justify the price when the service is like this. Three stars overall, with particular thanks to the starter.

The golf carts also raised serious safety concerns. We saw missing parts and signs of poor maintenance, and one cart broke down behind us. Our cart had a cracked windshield with a sharp, exposed edge. These are basic maintenance issues that should be addressed before carts are handed to paying customers.

The twosome that shared my tee time did not show up so they told me to go out as a single. Trouble as I immediately noticed a foursome in front of me. They waved me up after they saw me standing on the 2nd tee. That was the beginning of the end. I caught up to a twosome that didn't wave me up and who appeared to be playing slow. A few holes later I briefly got to speak to them and they indicated to me that there was a slow single in front of them. I was looking for my ball when I spoke to them so it didn't occur to me to ask to join them. By the 8th hole I knew I was only going to play nine. To add to my frustration I believe almost ever par 4 had a blind tee shot. There were I believe four holes where there was a bell to ring to alert group behind that it was clear to tee off. This was on one side. I have no idea what the other side was like.

Bottom line the course was fairly nice but the fact that the pro shop doesn't pair up golfers made my day extremely frustrating.

Enjoyed our golf game today, but poor drainage left a lot of mud and standing water from previous day rain. Conditions improved slowly as the course dried in the sun

Course is in great shape. Well-maintained. Grounds-keepers were busy mowing the rough, fixing bunkers, etc.

Staff is super-friendly and accomodating.

Price is right, a very relaxing round, and other golfers were super nice allowing me to play through as a single, so I was able to finish in just under 3 hours.

Greens were a little slow due to all of the rain and moisture, but absolutely playable.

Will definitely be going back soon!

Poured the night before, but the course was in excellent shape. Cart path only , but it had to be . Greens were in excellent shape.

The play was slow. Never found out why. The only negative was a number of tee boxes had a lot of bees on them. Made the tee shot interesting

Decided to play this course early in the morning. We had a great time playing the course and the pace of play was so good that we decided to play another 9 holes. Overall, I would play this course again, I feel it is a reasonable price for early tee time compared to courses in North Jersey. From prior experience I know 19th hole bar is a great space with outdoor seating. Unfortunately, I did not get to partake in any after round libations this day.

Went on Father’s Day with family. Almost 6 hour round, no one out there to police and move people around. Signs out there about pace of play yet no one to maintain.

Decently fast golfer, been playing for years. Been to Wallkill a few times over the years and has always been good, but not today. Was probably one of the longest rounds of my life. Unsure I’ll be back based off the pace of play.
