GolfAdvisor's Top 20 value golf courses in Arizona in 2014

Scottsdale and Tucson are beacons of luxury golf, luring Northern-based golfers south with glossy images of saguaro cacti and emerald green grass glittering in sunshine.

Rounds can often be a pretty penny in the peak winter months. Courses like TPC Scottsdale, which hosts the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Troon North and The Boulders all dazzle.

Few golf destinations have as many peaks and valleys in their pricing as Arizona, where the spring months yield top-dollar green fees. A course that asks for $200-plus in February can be lucky to get $50 for a loop in July.

So value is a moving target in Arizona. We've found the top 20 values in 2014 as rated by golfers on GolfAdvisor. We took the mean of their star ratings to find which courses were leaving golfers happiest. Many of them are working-class courses that appease retirees, RV-travelers and bargain-hunting snowbirds. Not that surprisingly, a lot of these courses are located beyond the Scottsdale-Phoenix epicenter and on the outskirts of the Valley of the Sun in places like Wickenburg, Peoria and Florence.

So check out the list and know that your fellow golfers say the most bang for your buck in Arizona lies right here:
