Brandywine Bay Golf Club

Was asked to play this course and I already knew it was going to be the worst. All three course this guy owns are the worst I’ve ever seen. It’s criminal at this point. Greens keepers should be charged for destruction of property for what they did to these golf course and brandywine is the worst of them all.

Kind of surprised still in business. Staff was very kind. Course however was not.

Greens were the worst I’ve ever seen. The sand traps had enough grass that the sand wasn’t even visible; not only was it disgusting to look at a weed-ridden sand trap, but it destroyed their purpose, they were basically their own ruff. The dirt on the entire course was rock solid and in terribile condition. Not only was this a course that nobody who has played golf before would want to play, it was also a course that would make any new golfer quit, as the entire course was covered in lakes and water spots, which for a new player would mean almost every shot being in the water.

Temp greens really was disappointing. Tee boxes in need of work. Course needs a lot of maintenance and lots of water needed. Still had a good time under the circumstances.

Despite the recent negative reviews, I decided to try Brandywine anyway. I got a Hot Deal for $40 and I’m glad I did. I would have felt cheated if I had paid more than that. They tell you in the pro shop that several holes have temporary greens. OK. What they don’t tell you is that a couple holes just have the cup stuck somewhere in the grass. Makes it nearly impossible to have a clean shot at a good putt. The cart path in areas would be more appropriate for an ATV than a golf cart. Those things aside, the course has great potential and I did see several guys working on the course, making repairs. So they ARE trying to make improvements. I enjoyed the nature (egrets, lots of turtles, a lot of water throughout the course). One other thing, bring plenty of water as they have NONE on the course. They are happy to sell you a bottle for $2, though. I feel that at the beach in the summer a golf course should provide water and not make you pay for it. If you really want to play golf and don’t want to spend a lot or can’t get a tee time elsewhere, then I’d say lower your expectations and play Brandywine. I’ll probably give them another try in a year or so.

Course is overpriced considering they have several temporary greens.

Brandywine Bay Golf Club is continuing to make noticeable progress, and it’s honestly in the best shape I’ve seen it in for quite some time.

The front nine is playing very well, with only one temporary green remaining. Most of the greens currently in play are in good condition, rolling well, and improving every week. The fairways are also recovering nicely and beginning to green up in many areas, which has made for a much better overall playing experience.

The back nine still has several temporary greens, and there’s no denying that work remains to be done. However, the course staff is actively working to bring the remaining greens back into play, and the improvements are becoming more evident each week.

If you’re expecting a perfectly finished product, you may want to give it more time. But if you’ve played Brandywine over the past few years, you’ll likely appreciate the progress that’s been made. There is still room for growth, but the course is moving in the right direction, and the effort being put into its recovery is starting to show.

It’s also worth remembering that continued play and support from local golfers provides ownership with the revenue needed to keep investing in renovations, course improvements, and long-term recovery. The more the community supports the course during this rebuilding phase, the faster that progress can continue.

Ive played this course about 10 times over the last 3 years mostly because its inexpensive. But this was very disappointing. Last time I played the back 9 was closed and I knew, new ownership took over. This time around was just dreadful and I worry about its survivability. The fairways were super short with a ton of weeds and sand patches. The greens that were open were also full of weeds. Almost half the greens were closed with temps in place. I was so disappointed. When I first played it 3 years ago, it was in better shape than now. Best part of the course is its overall layout and created some nice challenges.

I will say the course is a difficult one, but would be fun to play under better conditions. That being said…it should not be open right now. They have temporary greens for about 10 holes. Which makes putting pointless. One hole we were literally putting in pools of water on the fairway bc they still had sprinklers going off for the green maintenance. The back 9 has about 7 holess pretty much un playable. They did warn us about temporary greens but we didn’t think it could be this bad since they are still allowing people to play. I will be back when they have the course fixed. Maybe 2 years.

New owners are still working on the course, back 9 still closed. This is second time in about a week I've played there, mainly because it is close by and reasonably priced. Fairways were in OK shape, greens were fast and minimal terf. Last time I played, there was a temporary green, this time around there were 2 temporary greens. I can't wait until they get everything put together. It's a fun course but not in the best shape. I'd play it just to try it as it presents some interesting challenges.

It appears they are doing some major work on the course. I had to play the first 9 holes twice, which we were warned about upon arrival. It's the least expensive course in the area. You get what you get.

Enjoyed playing with my son but the greens had more sand then the beach they were terrible worst I've ever played. Aside from that course was awesome . I will play again next time I am on vacation there. I am on my 2nd stint as a golfer only now I play one handed due to lose of my left side from a stroke.

If you can avoid this course please do. The greens are bad, the sans traps have too many weeds and the course is not mowed often. They have basically lost to course to bad maintenance and management. This used to be a nice course, but now it’s just a cow pasture. I’ll take my golfing $$$$ else where as this is just not acceptable (even as a member) anymore.

Played here several times and played 9 holes this round. This has to be the worst condition Ive seen it. Its under new ownership and a lot of work is being put into the course. Upon arrival, we checked in and got some range balls, we were also told cart path only, back 9 is closed and one of the holes had a temporary green. The range which is irons only, was in horrible shape. Weed growth up to a foot high both on the range and the t box area. Areas without the weeds were dug out hole or large divots. Once we got on the course we found the rough to look a lot like the range. Deep rough about 6” of grass with the 12” weeds sticking up. The fairways themselves were a bit longer than expected with no roll. A combination of grass length and wet conditions. The greens were slow a Xmas and the cups seemed smaller than other courses I played, it was weird.

Unfortunately it is bad shape. Has not been mowed and greens need lots of TLC. I have played here in the past and it was a very nice experience. I think time has not been kind
