Course was reasonably challenging and maintained well enough. For some reason, incredibly wet. Made it difficult to play. Didn’t appear to rain in the area the night prior. Some tee boxes in rough shape. Cart paths were gravel and bumpy. The overall course design itself had a number of challenging curves even with being wide open. Pace of play took a major stop around the end of the back 9. Front 9 was very stacked to start. Overall a good course - not our favorite, but challenging and affordable. Go during a dry weekday if possible.
Absolutely terrible
Guy at the desk wouldn't let me play at all even with reservation. Never gave me a chance to even walk the course. Proper golf attire. But my cousin goes there 20 minutes later with her friend with the same tee time(because we were supposed to play together) and let her and her friend play the course. Guy at the desk should be fired for discrimination honestly. Was kind and courteous the whole time. Even had a guy call and cancel a reservation in front of me and he still refused to let us play.
Nice course!
Nice course for the money and friendly staff. Always makes you feel welcome.
Nice course, good golf experience
Nice course, friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere, will play again.
Course was a good outting. Couple tee boxes still need work but I’m sure is being noted. Greens were difficult cause they were slow but all in all a great leisure course
Fun course
I like the lay out here. No water to deal with, but still some challenging holes.. it’s plays long for me. The course needs rain and the paths are rough. But was a great golf day. Will def it go back.
Wet
Played after several days of rain so it was a bit muddy, we’re aeriating the greens so putting was no good.. but over all I like Maple Ridges layout. The terrain is pretty rough on back nine. But you like the course. Staff is friendly
Fun course
I like the layout at Maple. Good yardage. Fun greens. Staff great. Price good. New golf carts, even Red. However the course isn’t in the best shape. Paths have lots of roots above ground. But I like the course.
Decent course for the money.
It’s been nearly 20 years since I played at Maple Ridge, and it felt great to go back. The course has an interesting layout. A wide open front nine which plays long off the white tees (those are the tips at this course as they only have white, gold, and red), it is quite forgiving on most holes. Limited sand and wide roughs allow even the most novice golfer a chance to shoot a decent round.
Switch to the back nine, and it becomes a shot makers course. Tight fairways, water, hilly terrain, and teacup size greens will have you driving or walking all over if you cannot keep the ball in play. All in all, it’s a fun course. The fairways were a little trouble to spot on some holes as they seemed slightly overgrown compared to where I’m from. However, if you’re in the Ashtabula area and you want a decent public course to visit, I’d definitely pay them a visit.
Open fairways
I got a killer slice
Some of the best looking open fairways I’ve seen made playing the slice a lot easier
Great day!
Had a great time at Maple Ridge. The course has a nice llayout, the green roll nice and you can pretty much throw darts at the flag because the approach shots stop right away. The front 9 is more open and much longer than the back 9 (3300 yds vs 2700) and the back 9 is much more narrow with more trees. The conditions could be a little better but I blame that on the dry weather. Once that improves with rain, the course will be awesome. The drive out to Austinburg is worth it
