Fun course
I like the layout at Maple. Good yardage. Fun greens. Staff great. Price good. New golf carts, even Red. However the course isn’t in the best shape. Paths have lots of roots above ground. But I like the course.
Decent course for the money.
It’s been nearly 20 years since I played at Maple Ridge, and it felt great to go back. The course has an interesting layout. A wide open front nine which plays long off the white tees (those are the tips at this course as they only have white, gold, and red), it is quite forgiving on most holes. Limited sand and wide roughs allow even the most novice golfer a chance to shoot a decent round.
Switch to the back nine, and it becomes a shot makers course. Tight fairways, water, hilly terrain, and teacup size greens will have you driving or walking all over if you cannot keep the ball in play. All in all, it’s a fun course. The fairways were a little trouble to spot on some holes as they seemed slightly overgrown compared to where I’m from. However, if you’re in the Ashtabula area and you want a decent public course to visit, I’d definitely pay them a visit.
Open fairways
I got a killer slice
Some of the best looking open fairways I’ve seen made playing the slice a lot easier
Great day!
Had a great time at Maple Ridge. The course has a nice llayout, the green roll nice and you can pretty much throw darts at the flag because the approach shots stop right away. The front 9 is more open and much longer than the back 9 (3300 yds vs 2700) and the back 9 is much more narrow with more trees. The conditions could be a little better but I blame that on the dry weather. Once that improves with rain, the course will be awesome. The drive out to Austinburg is worth it
Long fairway grass, slow greens, overall pretty rough condition.
Super hospitable
Nice staff. Some dandelions, but overall a great course for the price. Played as a twosome I’m 3 hours and 15 minutes
Course conditions good and very friendly staff
Greens and fairways on front 9 were good for early season. The fairways on the back 9 need some work. Staff was very friendly.
Great course
This is a gem in a small local community. Interesting holes, challenges for every level of golfer.
No control of players
So my buddy and I decided to golf after work , we went to the closest course to us which is Maple Ridge and ya know , 25 bucks for 18 is okay I guess, so we go and within 5 holes we are stuck behind a group of 5 players , older gentlemen who have no regard for the two players behind them. They took their time and really frustrated me. At least tell your customers to have some golf etiquette. So it took us longer than normal to golf 9, then we were going to play the back 9 only to find out there was a high school match going on , unbeknownst to us. If I would have known that there was a match to be played I would have only paid for 9 holes. So we went to the front 9 which was really frustrating.
After all the trouble with that, the second play though the front 9 was fine, until around the 7th hole, another group of 5 elderly men jumped ahead out of no where to pass us, and we were slowed down again. The Sun was going down quick yet it took they guys 10 minutes to Putt when they had a twosome behind them waiting with two more played behind them. What should have been a 3hour golf day ended up taking almost 4 hours and that’s ridiculous on a Tuesday fall night. This is the 2nd time out of 3 visits the pace of play is detrimental to the experience.
We play here a few times a year. Its always enjoyable.. The course is pretty and somewhat challenging.
All around great course.
Excellent course for players looking for good course conditions, moderate challenge, wide variety of terrain and friendly people. Beautiful nature abounds!
Great value, scenic back 9 and not crowded
Every time I play here the staff is very friendly. Price is fair and I've never had an issue getting in even without a tee time. Great course to relax or for beginners because it's not over crowded. I would recommend this course to anyone. The back 9 is very scenic as well.
