Regulation Eighteen at Shawnee Hills Golf Course

About
Shawnee Hills is home to two different golf courses, an 18-hole regulation course and a nine-hole, par-3 layout. The 18-hole course has a front nine that plays across gently rolling hills accented with water hazards while the back nine presents a different set of challenges with more dramatic hills covered with forests of mature pines, maples, and oaks. The scenic Deer Lick Creek also runs alongside the back holes. The second half of the golf course definitely has more of a Carolina-feel to it while the front nine is more like a Florida course. The back is a bit tougher than the first half of the course, but wide fairways throughout make it a fairly forgiving layout overall, though the golf course boasts what may be the toughest hole in the Cleveland Metroparks, the par-4 fourth. This dogleg left hole plays uphill and demands accuracy with a line of trees on either side.

Good but not $60 good
Good municipal style course. Back nine plays harder than the front. Fairways and greens okay. Lots of debris on green but it was pretty windy. Overall not a bad course but I would not pay $60 a person again to play there. Much better courses for that kind of money.
Clueless starter
We showed up early for our tee time hoping to sneak out early. Asked if we could tee off the back instead of waiting for our scheduled time, totally understand that sometimes this can mess things up. Told we could not because they were so many people making the turn. Waited for our tee time for over an hour And watched one twosome hit the turn, beyond frustrating. We offered to play the back 2 times or wherever was easier
Shawnee's rough is not as impossible as at Sleepy Hollow and Big Met. Some spots it is penal as it should be, but not ridiculous for the average golfer. Greens were a little shaky as the sand filling the aeration holes was nowhere near uniform. Fairways are tight but again, with rough being fair that wasn't a big problem. Had a great day in beautiful weather. Shawnee's layout is interesting
Great course. Slow play
I’m not the best golfer but the pace of play was so slow. It took over 5 hours to play 18 holes. First 9 was finished in less than 1.5 hours. The back nine was packed full of groups in 6 or 7 players. The two rangers in course rangers must have driven past at least 5 or 6 times with no warnings or pushing the players to play faster. Love the course. Great layout. Probably will come back but it’s going to be during the week.
