About
Shawnee Hills is home to two different golf courses, an 18-hole regulation course and a nine-hole, par-3 layout. The 18-hole course has a front nine that plays across gently rolling hills accented with water hazards while the back nine presents a different set of challenges with more dramatic hills covered with forests of mature pines, maples, and oaks. The scenic Deer Lick Creek also runs alongside the back holes. The second half of the golf course definitely has more of a Carolina-feel to it while the front nine is more like a Florida course. The back is a bit tougher than the first half of the course, but wide fairways throughout make it a fairly forgiving layout overall, though the golf course boasts what may be the toughest hole in the Cleveland Metroparks, the par-4 fourth. This dogleg left hole plays uphill and demands accuracy with a line of trees on either side.

Terrible service
Terrible customer service, we were scheduled to play 18 holes and pre paid on GolfNow. When we got to the 10th hole we were told there is a league in progress and we are unable to golf. They did not offer a refund and we were stuck paying full price for 9 holes of slow paced golf due to us being placed behind a foursome that was walking.
Pace
Course was great front nine was fast but then was stuck behind a 4 some and we were a 2 some. We asked to play through and they wouldn’t let us. Need to have rangers on the course to help out.
Greens topdressed, still roll well
- Pros: fast round walking, greens rolled well despite being topdressed last within the week, fairways cut
- Cons: drainage could always be better.
Overall: walked 18 holes under $25. Fairways and rough were soggy, but only 2 plugged balls the whole round. Greens were recently top dressed, but they still rolled OK. There was someone out mowing the fairways, but because it was soggy, they only did a few holes and tee boxes. I would highly recommend this course early in the season before it dries out in July.
The only complaint I have is the party in front of us were extremely slow. And the aeration holes at the flag made the ball bounce way too much
Nice Layout, Conditions were So-So.
Overall, decent course. Pace of play was veryyyyy slow. Not recommended if you don't have patience to wait on every hole. Irritated greens made putting impossible.
Unfriendly Staff
We played early afternoon, and there weren’t many players starting after us. We get halfway down the fairway, and the ranger already comes up to us asking if we’re “new golfers”, and told us we need to pick up the pace on the first hole… As there is nobody on the tee behind us. We ended up catching the group ahead of us who started before we even got there. Then when we hit the turn we were stopped by the ranger to check our receipt. I have never been stopped in the middle of my round to check a receipt especially since we already had a cart. We just felt harassed and hurried the whole round.
Staff was awful, course was in terrible shape. Just an awful experience
