Cossett Creek Golf Club

About
Located just a few miles north of Medina, Cossett Creek Golf Club has an easily accessible location just three miles west of I-71. The course takes its name from the meandering creek that winds throughout the course. The layout is spread across 130 acres of scenic, gently rolling terrain. It's a round that is player friendly enough for beginners to enjoy but seasoned golfers looking for a quick and challenging round will also be pleased. The front nine is open and forgiving, a nice warm-up to prepare you for what's next. The creek comes into play throughout the golf course and there are three lakes that come into play on the back nine. The holes are tighter on the back nine and they'll put your accuracy to the test. None of the holes are particularly long, but Cossett Creek G.C. is a course that will make you think.

Much Better
The rain has finally stopped and the course has dried out. Much more enjoyable now. Lots of roll on drives. The greens a pretty firm too, so play for the front (they haven't been able to top dress yet). They are spongy a bit though so chips settle and they roll on the slow side, kind of an odd combination, but it works. Pace of play is never a problem at 6:30 AM. They continue to do work and improve the course. Go check it out.
Enjoyable course
Well maintained. Cart patches need work though. Nice easy course for a fun/practice round. Will come back. Staff very friendly.
Always improving
I play this course quite often. Conditions continue to improve. It has been easy to see the improvements since I started playing here 3 years ago. The course overall is in good shape, although earlier in the year the wet and cold temps delayed mowing and some of the low spots in the back 9 suffered. The front is open, except for a creek/ponds that come into play on 7 & 9. The back is very tight and winds through the same creek valley, but it is in play on 12-15 and 18. Their turtle-back greens are kept on the slow side, but they roll true. They are working on drainage and have patched some of the bigger ruts in the cart paths. All the sand traps are under repair, some being removed, some rebuilt. Pace of play isn't an issue teeing off at 6:30 AM.
Front 9 - Didn't lose a ball!
Feel free to spray it all around on the front 9 cause it's fairly open. Trouble on the right on 2 or 3 holes but most of the holes border each other and some good trees to provide blockage so you aren't in harms way.
The walk was thoroughly enjoyed with the music going and my game pretty good as well. i was surprised I had to drive 30 minutes from hotel to get to course as no other course had tee times after 4:00pm, good job Cossett Creek on getting me to come out by just posting tee times when you are open. Check out my pic of the tree colors, awesome!
The only knock I had was some hard pan turf conditions on fairway and round area around the greens. Tees had some bare spots but you are teeing it up, who cares right? Greens were punched about 10 days I'd guess and they were rolling well but a little fuzzy. but I played at 5:30pm so I expected them to be slow. they were in good shape, but I had 4 to 6 shots from fairway or around the green on a very tight dirt lie. For a hack, like me, I turn into Captain Skully or Sir Chunks-a-lot but all good. Bunkers needed some attention like a good raking and a de-weeding.
I'd go back and heard the back 9 is more cut thru the woods so bring your straight driver.
Average course
Nothing special about this course, I thought there was a good mixture of water hazards. Would play again.
Won't be back
So, we have played this coarse a couple of times now and it just gets worse and worse. When we arrived, the clubhouse staff was rude. Coarse condition and layout are fairly good but the fairways are cut to close to each other in many locations. I had 2 drives fade off, barely on to the next hole rough, but by the time I get to it, it's missing. The people who play here had no etticate or ability to play a bigger coarse. We left after 9 holes and will not return.
Cossett Creek, July 2016
A nice layout, pretty well-maintained. Rough was pretty burned out but it's been very hot and dry. Fairways could be better but not bad at all. Greens were in good shape but a little slow and hard to read. Didn't interact much with staff but they seemed friendly enough. Very small clubhouse. Did not eat or drink. Second time playing course.
Always Fun
I play out here pretty often and this is the best this course has looked in years. The ownership is really invested in the course and one can see the work being done. The greens hold well and roll true, but they are on the slower side, which is intentional as they are crowned and no one wants to have putts roll off the green. The first 6 holes the ball can be sprayed anywhere but a creek comes in at 7 & 9 and the whole back runs through a wooded valley. Shot selection is key to survive the back. They are often running promotions so check the website before booking a time.
A real steal
Reading some of the reviews, and considering the price, I was skeptical, but decided to give this course a try. I was pleasantly surprised that the course was in great shape, and the back 9 really tested your skills. Lots of dog legs made sure you were taking the right angles, and when you didn't, you could pay for it. Look forward to playing it again.
Winter Golf - Good Option
Good course in fairly decent shape ( a couple of rough greens but overall not bad). Tight course with hills on the back 9 with challenging greens. Will have to try it again when the weather is a little warmer.
Cleveland Golf
Any time you can play golf this time of year in Cleveland you cant complain....plus it was one of the fewest courses open that didnt jack up their prices that day...
Not bad. not the best
the fairways had more dirt than grass in some areas. some tee boxes were like hitting out of the rough.. overall not a bad course but I wouldn't probably play it again.
Great course
I've golfed this course multiple times in the last month. The only slow play comes with terrible golfers infront. The decent golfers let you play through but we have had some that don't let us. We have skipped holes 8&9 to play the back 9 twice as the back nine is more difficult and has never had people going super slow on. Overall conditions of the course is good. Few dead spots occasionally and tee box 13& 15 are like concrete. The fairways and greens are very well maintained. I have never payed more than $20 to golf this course so it is well worth the money.
Not very good
The course is perfect for beginners or someone wanting to work on their game. The greens were decent, but tee boxes need work.
Good Course for the Average Golfer
Relatively short course, w/ a couple of difficult holes. Average condition. Not recommended for the above average golfer. Excellent dining facility & food
Never again
Went because I found what I thought to be a good price.
Several shots right down the fairway ended up buried in the fairway, can't blame the weather because it didn't rain that day and I was at Coppertop just down the road the day before while it was raining and it was infinitely better there!!! Muddy, sloppy, cart got stuck twice. Had to wait half an hour after my tee time to start. Was highly aggravated by the 5th hole, 3rd time my ball was stuck in a FAIRWAY
Golfer on a Budget
since joining Golfnow i have played many new courses that without the deals you offer would've never happened, i been able to play courses that was always on my wish list but could never afford, the deals are outstanding and the courses have all been great fun, so again i thank you. STEVEN BRAGG
the course needs tender loving care
the course is laid out good but the greens are very small and almost all of them sit up. in some areas of the fairways it is hard to tell the difference between the rough and fairway, because it is hard to hit a ball in high grass in the fairway. the signs at each hole are great they give you distance to hole and also to water. overall course needs much attention, probably will not return
