Slow greens
Yankee Trace is a local fan favorite….but, uh…the greens were very slow, today. Other than that…everything else there is great…plenty of outdoor space for after round drink. Enjoyed it Centerville, we will be back.
Horrible Pace
Been playing here for a couple years early Sunday afternoons. The pace is absolutely horrid. The pandemic has caused a few local courses to close and Yankee Trace seems to have inherited all of them. I learned and played at one of the now closed courses so don’t get the idea I’m looking down on anyone. Forget about any etiquette whatsoever, you will not be playing through. You will be pushed and you will not see a ranger. Snobbery at its finest. I really don’t like being pushed, but if you want a ranger to deal with it you will need to call the pro shop. Having said all that, it’s a great place with a great layout. You’re warned.
Better than most
One of the best courses I’ve ever played. Pace of play somewhat slow initially, not from overbooking. Had foursome ahead of us that thought they were playing in the PGA. Lining up puts from all directions. Taking ridiculous amount of time to take any shots.
Gentlemen, Ready Golf!
Fortunately, ranger came by, and recommended they pick up the pace.
Thankfully they did...
Great Course!!!
Great Golf Course and facilities…
Course was in great condition and well maintained. Nice set up to challenge all skills and it gives you some chances to go for it. Highly recommend playing this course
Yankee
Very nice Course always seems to be wet and the greens are really slow but it was always in good condition
Snobs
I have played this course many times and although the starters are very friendly, many of the other staff are not. I do not know msny people in Dayton and stop to play there as a single and unless it is jam packed, they rarely force pairings. Golf is not enjoyable being stuck between holes of other groups either for the lone golfer or the groups behind and in front of him ( her ). I know what it is like to be in all situations and this is what starters are there for. In the past, I would usually ask if i could play with others snd the etiquette is to always say yes, hoping the lone player was not a beginner who slowed down the pace and overall mood but nowadays at this course, the golfers themselves act snobby and say “ no .” I am a 12 handicap player and have given up on this place. I realize that I book tee times as a single player but like I said, starters should pair up folks and teach these players to have manners
Soggy but good
Played right after a huge rain storm so the course was cart path only. Layout was great.
Great Golf!
I was paired with a wonderful couple by chance. Due to rain all week, carts were on the path which made play slow. We decided to ditch the carts at the starter and walk. Yankee is an easy course to walk and every few holes is a water station.
Great course
Super friendly staff, one of the very best courses I've played. Pace of play was kinda slow, but otherwise I couldn't have asked for a better expirience.
Awesome Golf Course!
Used to be a scratch handicap, and played at a high armature and collegient level for years. Played some great courses. This one def ranks above and beyond! Played Heritage and Legend. Over 7100 yards, a challenge for even the most skilled players, but with various tee boxes anyone at any level can enjoy this course! Played the tips and was a true test. Love this course, the amenities such as the GPS on the golf carts! Def will be back again and again! Booked a late afternoon Saturday tee time, best $40 you'll spend in the Cinci-Dayton area!
In good shape
One of the best kept courses in the area. One of my favorites.
Excellent value and a nice layout
Always enjoy playing Yankee Trace. Rough was extremely penal today and my group lost several balls that were not far off the fairway. When you found them, you needed a mid to low iron to muscle it out. Greens were in excellent condition and rolled true.
Decent condition; slow play; no rangers; baffling rotation
I usually end up playing Yankee Trace a couple of times a year, but each time I play, there is always something that reminds me why I play just once or twice a year.
First, the good news - decent condition, good range and practice putting green, great beer options for the 19th hole.
Now, the questionable: no rangers to help keep play moving. I saw a drinks/ snacks cart once...on the tee of my 17th hole.
And the baffling: perhaps because it was a special (although I did decide to walk), I was routed from the Vintage (normally, just the 9-hole course) to the Vintage (normally, the front 9). So, of course, I ran right into the midst of others teeing off on the Vintage for their first nine! What?! I felt badly because I inserted myself ahead of a group that had a tee time, but they were understanding and let me play through.
Lesson learned: just be sure you are routed normally, i.e. Vintage to Legend. Oh, and I don't think it is worth full retail price ($60-65 with cart). But, if you can get a better deal ($40 with cart) and the normal routing, then I would be more amenable to recommending the course.
