Worst Conditions in NJ???
Very bad experience from start. Called ahead to ask about aeration, they said no. When we arrived they aerated that morning. Pro shop said it was "a surprise aeration" Course was unplayable...bunkers were hard packed full of stones, fairways had little to no grass, rough had no grass and some rocks.. Trees cut down and removed but no attempt to remove stumps or repair area where machines worked. I realize it was 3/31/16 but nobody was working on course to get it ready for play. There were so many bad areas that it would take a full year of constant work to get the course where you could play summer rules and not damage a club
Billy goat hill
The greens were in terrible shape aerated with the size of a quarter holes throughout wish golf now will let you know about the aeration would have never went .The course itself was a pretty good layout but very hilly
Beware
Course was not in great shape, granted it IS the end of the season. The course was just filled with leaves, you couldnt' find your ball in the middle of the fairway, the greens had recently been aerated and where nothing but sand pits, the bunkers had no real "sand" in them, was like playing from concrete.
I have played there in the summer and it's in better condition, but not a ton. Doesn't appear they have spent much on the groundskeeper of late or maybe it was just bad luck on our part.
For $50, it was not worth it, if it was a $20-$30 round, OK, I get it....but considering the time of year and the amount charged, I expected better.
NEEDS A RANGER
So started off slightly after the scheduled 10:06 tee time. Got out at about 10:15-20. Group ahead was slow from the first tee. Starter yelled to us we could tee off and that they were about 350 out on the opening par 5. Only took the one gal maybe 6 shots to get there. I had a feeling that asking for a refund before teeing off and calling it a day would have been a good choice but I decided to tee off anyway. Waited at every tee. Most tees we pulled up as they were still teeing off. Not once did I see a ranger. Starter didn't even notice the gap between them and the group before them. Pace sucked. Almost 5 hours to finish a round on a that should have been 4. Sad concise ring it was a nice course otherwise.
Good Course lots of trees
I play this course numerous times each season and it is usually in very good condition.
It is a fun course for all levels with some interesting holes.
I think that there is a responsibility that the course is neglecting in the last two times I have played the course over the last two times the pace of play was horrible!
There is not a single ambassador out there doing anything about it and in my last two outings the twosomes that I was paired with left me as a single one with 6 holes to still play and the other with 4 holes left.
There is no excuse for this in fact in the first instance I was paired with a member and his wife, great people, and he had to call the pro shop and argue with them to send someone out to speed things up, the person that showed up had an attitude and got into it with the member, things sped up after that.
It is a shame that with such a nice course that the FUN can get diminished and it is controllable
I will play there again and I will recommend it with caveats.

Uneven lies
Course varies as to difficulty of holes as to where you place you shots. there is a premium on hitting and keeping ball in fairways and near the greens. Poor tee shots can be severely costly to your score and psyche. Many varied lies up, down, many side hill lies place a premium on striking ball solidly.
Greens in terrific shape and every putt provides a challenge. Consistent ball striking rewarded, believe course resembles "target" type of golf.
Great play
Loved playing course...last time I played it was in 1990s in high school... Looks the same...only complaint was sand traps which was more dirt than sand...think the course was recently sold....but thoroughly enjoyed terrain and views...tough greens
The course is in great shape just keep ball out of rough
I have played here a few times. Every time I have played the staff is friendly the course is in great shape just keep ball out of rough. Hard to find your ball if you are in the rough. Overall great place to play for the price.
Great greens and tree-lined fairways
This course may put you in many uneven lies. There is a fair amount of changes in elevation. I liked the course and thought it was in pretty good shape. My husband said it used to be nicer. The greens are speedier than they look at first and they have lots of movement.
Great for the price
I went out late with a friend. For the price, I loved it. I'm not a picky golfer, but the greens and fairways were well maintained.
not again
drove from Morristown--greens like linoleum----sandwich a rip off at $7---many par 3's just a chip shot---many brown spots and little water
Fast Greens, tee boxes have too much dirt
I frequently play this course. The greens are always a challenge. Lately they have let the tee boxes go, need to seed more. Overall still a nice track for 60 dollars.
Great Course !
This was our first time To Beaver Brook . I would like to start off by saying that from the minute we got there the staff in the Pro Shop were very friendly ,laughing and joking with us. We were then Greeted by our Starter Pam who asked us if we had ever played there before .When we said "no" she gave us the lay of the land and some tips on what to expect and she was spot on! I must say that we had a wonderful Conversation with her while we were waiting to Tee off and then before we teed off on 10. Pam was so friendly and nice and made us feel like we had known her for years ! She is a great asset to Beaver Brook !! We found the Course (Greens and Fairways) to be in excellent shape considering the lack of rain in the area which could only mean one thing ,that the Grounds Crew are doing a top notch job! The only negative thing I could say are that the Bunkers are like concrete! It's probably because of poor Drainage. The Ambasssadors and the Food and Beverage girl in the Cart were also very friendly and did. Not drive past us without saying "Hello" or having a quick and pleasant conversation with us while we were waiting our turn at the Tee Boxes. Lunch in the Grill room was delicious and the waitstaff treated us like regular Customers . The course is an Hour from Staten Island where we came from and we can't wait to get back there ! The Manager of this course should be very proud of the People who work there ! It's what will keep us coming back time after time !!!
Nice track
Some challenging holes. Greens were fast. Course in good shape despite so little rain in the area this summer. Staff very friendly. Overall nice course and great value.
Beautiful views
After 12 years just started playing again. Took advantage of the $20.00 p golfer price w a friend. After coming off an 88 the day before at Quailbrook I was looking forward to at least an 90 here. No such luck. I played tee shots well; approach shots so-so which left us with many chips and a few bunker shots. The tee areas were poor as were most of the fairways due to the extreme heat. The bunkers were packed with not enough sand. All fairways were cut to 1/8" and after a few holes we tried to hit the lite rough. But the greens were both our demise. They were in great shape, but really tuff. From 25' we weren't guaranteed a 2 putt. These greens played very fast and balls took every little break. We probably 3 putted 9 holes each and we don't really suck. This made the round very tuff and scoring difficult. The staff was extremely friendly all round. We both shot in the high 90's and left frustrated. I'll definitely play again looking for some payback!
Great course, bring bug spray
Fairways are nice. Some great par5 holes for long drivers. Greens were rolled and fast. Tee boxes were being aerated so a week from now they should be greasy to go.
Overall, I like this place, would play again and def recommend to anyone that is looking for a course.
The ONLY major drawback was the gnats/bugs flying around on about 7 or 8 of the holes. Makes it tough to drive and putt.
Not My Best Golf Experience
This was my first time at Beaver Brook and may be my last. The price was excellent at $39.95 for a course close to my house in Hunterdon county. Now the bad news. Because of the price, the course was over crowded. Play was extremely slow. The day I was there they were aerating the tee boxes. I have been on other courses when aeration was being done, on those courses when you were going to tee off the workers stopped while you teed off. This was not the case at Beaver Brook, they just kept working around you while you teed off, very distracting. If they keep the price down, maybe we will go back in a few months to see if gets better.
Tee times mean nothing
Booked a tee time through golf now at 7:30. I was a single. Instead of letting me play at 7:30, they kept me waiting and put me behind a foursome. What cold have been a 3 hr round took 5 hrs
Worth It
The course was in excellent shape, the greens were receptive and fast. Friendly staff made it a pleasant experience, will definitely return.
