Beaver Brooke
Course was in great shape very challenging , greens were very fast and huge. , lot of 3 putts out there, we played front 9 with every other green still with moisture on them , and we were put in the middle of an outing after. 9 holes! We were not happy about that delay on our round , but over all we loved the course and can't wait to play it again !
Short course many irons off the tee
If you are looking to play short scenic good course then this is it. Many holes have narrow fairway and must hit irons. Par 3 are also very short for intermediate to Skilled golfer. Greens are in good shape but overall it's an OK course for me. Judging from people playing and residents around the course, this course sets up well for beginners and retired golfers.
Great course
Very friendly staff. Greens are in great condition. The only bad thing about the course is the carts are old and in bad shape. The cart we were using hardly had any breaks left.
Friendly Course
I have played this course many times. It is conveniently located just minutes off I-78 and typically easy to get a morning tee time on the weekends. The fairways and greens are in good condition. The layout is a bit odd as it starts and ends with 2 par 5 holes. It's a god course for a mid to high handicap player with wide fairways. Most holes are forgiving to an errant shot giving you an opportunity to recover. The staff is friendly and the food is very good. Just 2 concerns, the bunkers are dirt not sand and if you choose to tee off before 9 am bring your own beverages as the cart does not get out very often before 11 am.
great course
course was in mint condition. first time playing here and will definitely be returning to play again. staff was very kind and friendly.was great to see a ranger multiple times even though i was in the first group out for the day. I hope
Great Round and Even Better Service
It was a good day on the golf course. The course was in very good shape and the pace of play was perfect for my group. We actually played on the 17th as I made an error when scheduling the round and the staff was extremely accommodating in getting us out. The rangers were very courteous as the had to push us along once because we slipped a hole and 1/2 behind. We ate after the round and the food was very good. The service was excellent, inspite of the delay in getting the food, but worth the wait. I always enjoy playing this course. Great staff and great service.
Beaver Brook Golf
Average Course. Feels a little wet, I suspect there are a lot of areas that retain water. It is not a spectacular course but has all the ingredients that will keep you a bit interested.
aerated greens but didn't know ahead of time
normally a nice course, we showed up and was told that we had to play the back nine twice. very disappointed we didn't know this ahead of time. Nothing was on the website. The back nine was in good shape.
Beaver Brook
The PGA sized greens were great but their speed and slope rating are not for amatures. Its so easy to 3 and 4 put the greens leading to high scores. The bunkers are more waste bunkers than sand. Difficult to choose to play a chip shot or proper sand shot at times.
Fast play and reasonable rates
The course is in great shape. I've always liked the layout and the rolling hills. If you want some exercise, it's a challenging walk. The staff is always terrific. It seems to get light usage during the week, which is hard for me to comprehend given the course conditions, layout and price. Needless to say the pace of play during the week is excellent. Beaver Brook is a great value for a fun round of golf.
Nice course
The course is in great condition, but is not very pretty. I do not believe I saw a single flower during the entire round. It looks like they are in the middle of a landscaping redesign, but its been this way for most of the summer.
I was able to get a hot deal on golfnow.com and the cost per round was $40 per player so I thought it was a good deal.
The staff was not very friendly, but for the minute I saw them when I checked in it did not bother me.
Great Deal on an Early round
Booked a 5:36 AM tee time to play before work. As expected pace of play was great, course was in very good condition, greens held well and rolled nicely. Course is a good challenge and I would certainly look to play early again. Staff was friendly and accomodating for such an early tee time( I have had to wait until staff arrived at other courses unfortunately)
Great Course
Very nice course - very accomidatting . Try to avoid Friday afternoon as they have co-Ed leagues so it was backed up and kinda slow. Even with slow pace I enjoyed myself and the course has a nice variety of holes. Fairly narrow with many mature trees made it tough if your tee shot goes wide. Greens had some nice nuances and breaks - fun time !
Awesome track for the price if you like getting up before sunrise for a good deal.
My buddies and I look for specials on Golfnow and compare the specials with course rating/ reviews. This is a course that I have been seeing a lot (esp. early tee times) on golf now so we decided to book it since we were pulling an all-niter.. My buddy and I booked the very first tee time. left my house around 4 in the morning to grab coffee and be there early for 530 tee time, We were waiting at the door when it opened and the lady at the front desk was completely rude to use for no apparent reason. My buddy was looking for a sleeve of balls to play and he asked her for advice and she said "I don't know anything about balls". So we just said ok, thank you and proceeded on. We paid for the round and he asked her if there was a starter to give the receipt too? she fired back "you're late for your tee time". We had to swallow our words and head to the first tee even tho we were standing there when she unlocked the door... so initial reaction to the course was not a good one to say the least. I'm very easy going so I that kind of stuff doesn't bother me, I actually think its funny that people can just be that rude to paying customers.,
So we started playing and we were the first tee time so we essentially had the course to ourselves. Its an awesome track with some great holes. starts with two par 5s and ends with two par 5s that really get interesting if you are betting with your buddies. The only problem teeing off first thing is that they are still cutting the greens and they must soak the course over night because the course was extremely wet even when it didnt rain for day. We had to deal with some of the holes that were cut and dry and holes that weren't cut and soaking wet. Judging the speeds of the green where tough because of it and had to play lift, clean and place. But you have to remind yourself that you just paid 40$ to play here when it could of easily gone for 75 which it what they ask for during the day. We are budget golfers and we loved the course enough to go back again and the staff was much nicer this time around. even the lovely lady behind the desk. Even on the first par three, the green wasn't perfectly cut so we couldn't tell where the fringe started, and we play grennies (closest to the hole on a par 3) so we asked a staff member (that was driving by at the time) if he could give us his suggestion (to honestly, because it was $5 bucks for me and I wanted to test the staff) and he couldnt of been happier to do so. We told him about our experience at the front desk and he couldn't be anymore apologetic and even had, what they call the ambassador, come out and just see if we were enjoying our round.
So for finding a 40$ deal on golfnow, driving an hour or so to get there is always worth it cause the course is what I care about the most. So if you don't mind getting up early for a budget golfer or don't mind paying the 75$, its well worth it IMO. We play from the tips and have yet to shot a really decent round.. its a tough, fun track with some decent views and elevation changes. Just make sure you are on time, and tell the lady at the front desk I said hello.
Great Early Morning
I played this course is 1:57..... Of course, I got out at 6:30am and there was no one in front of me.
I enjoyed it as I thought conditions were great and the fast greens were challenging.
Good until we got stuck in between an outing
We were the first group out and we played 9 in an hour and 40 minutes. Then we got caught in between a shotgun outing and it was all downhill from there. The round winded up being 4.5 hours. Good thing the weather was nice so the wait didn't seem too bad. The greens were slow, but it was due mostly to the wet greens from the early morning. But overall the conditions were good.
No driving range.
Golf course itself was good, not great... narrow mature course with good fast greens.
Facility and infrastructure are in need of upkeep including carts and it wasn't a good value for a non-resident. I wouldn't likely go back.
Better this year
This was my third time play here. The fairway and green condition is better then last year. Good course!
Challenging but fair
The course is very challenging. With the fairways covered by trees on both sides, it is advantageous to be long and accurate from the tee box.
The greens are soft, yet, undulating and fast.
For all the bunker players out there; the bunkers are filled with white powdery sand and very meticulous.
I highly recommend playing 18holes.
