Soldier Hill Golf Course

I thought I'd enjoy my day off at Emerson and I found a hot deal for what seemed like a good price. I have played her multiple times and hadn't been back this year so I thought I would give it a shot. I arrived one hour early. Which I know is really early but I was off and there was no traffic. As soon as I went to check in the manger grilled me about how much I paid for the hot deal and scoffed when he realized it was half of what he normally charges. He said I was too early to start so I went out to their putting green. After a half hour on the putting green and watching no one go out I ask the manager if I could start. His response was that my time was 2:57 and I would start at 2:57. So I sat patiently for the next thirty minutes waiting.

The front nine was great and the pace was great. The back nine not so much. What no one tells you is at 4 pm they have both league players and summer camp school aged children playing. I arrived on the tenth hole to find that ther was three foursomes of 8 year olds in front of me. I'm not sure why the manager chose to start them on the back nine but my group and the group behind me finished the round in just under five and a half hours. Their costumer care is nonexistent and their attitude is poor. There is also no grill or food open at the snack bar.

Boring course, only 1 water hazard, sand placement not really challenging, non-inspiring bland landscape. I've played this course over the years, the course is in its best maintained state for only two months out of the year (June and July) -- other than that, I guess the course superintendent gets paid for doing nothing or just doesn't care because the conditions are terrible. Pace of play is SLOW as the ranges do not move the players along -- you can spend 30 minutes on one hole if your behind the "right" foursome. The course superintendent has an attitude and will blame you for every divot on the entire golf course whether you replace them or not -- not exactly a friendly guy. Golf can be frustrating enough without the aforementioned annoyances, which can make for a most non-enjoyable outing.

Course in great shape you can really score well on this course

Beautiful day, golf course in excellent condition. Very fair, greens in great shape.

Worst course in the area, especially for $80. Conditions were terrible, pace of play a joke. Thought it couldnt get any worse and then they threw a womens outing shotgun start out in the middle of our round.

The course has been managed well improved so that the couse is much better than last year.

Called a friend, we had time to go golfing last minute.

booked on golf now, saw we were running 10 minutes late, I called and they made the adjustment to get us at the tee box.

The course is long, so a straight drive will make the difference. The rough was deep, needed to hit perfect to get the balls out of it.

Greens were in great shape.

The young ladies on the beverage cart, were there when needed. It was a hot day, nice to have a cold 1 out there when needed.

The course layout is decent and the condition of the course is decent , the problem is they never space groups at properly and you are always stuck behind people- the pace of play is awful . The course is decent but would only be worth it for a good hot deal price - definitely not worth full price

played there 5/15. had read recent reviews off google and yelp, and was terrified. much to my dismay, 3 of us, 2 riders and 1 walker, flew around sunday after noon in only 3 hours. i was stunned, never did i think in the greater NYC area could you play that quickly at a public course in the afternoon. greens were good. fairways still need to be played via winter rules though. if mediocre conditions don't bother you, its worth playing. if pace of play means the most to you, at least off my experience, its worth playing.

The course condition is better than I expected after I saw all reviews. The course plays long from the back tee with small green. The green speed is faster than most of county courses. I enjoyed playing this course.

I am a regular player at Emerson GC. I understand that this is month(season) to have a green aeration.

I inquired about green condition and told that it is about 80% ready to play. However, when I went there, the greens were hard like a rock and there was no grasses at all on the greens.

Greens were not ready & tee box was terrible.

in addition, they still charging full green fees with terrible conditions. I would not go back and play.

average course short drive

I had not played this course for over 4 years because it was very expensive and the conditions used to be worse than muni conditions. I played this course on a late afternoon during a weekday. The course was empty so I was able to finish 18 holes in 2.5 hours and the conditions were very good. Like night and day compared to 4 years ago.

Good enough golf course for the family and friend rounding.

While the green was in excellent condition, the fairway had too much leaves and it was difficult to find balls.

Emerson is well kept. At,the discount price is very good. However they need a ranger on course to move play along. Player's can't be allowed to watch each other hit before going to their balll.

Will never play this course again. Totally not worth the $ for the conditions and (extremely slow) pace of play.

Horrible round. Teed off at 11:15, did not finish until 4:45. 5.5 hours for a round of golf at a semi private golf course is ridiculous. Course conditions were horrible as well. Greens were incredibly slow and unkempt. Sand was rock hard was clearly not raked in the morning. Tee boxes were in shambles. Greenside rough was in patches and had tons of fescue. Would never pay $70+ for this garbage course. Would never recommend. Go play the county courses instead.

The course is in pretty good condition. However, the course is not managed well enough to keep the pace of play moving. Every hole was backed up. Our foursome was so frustrated we left after four hours and we just finished the 15th hole. I normally play this course during the week and it's ok. $80 for a weekend round at Emerson is not worth it at all!!!
